Stagehanley,
This is how my 1500 list used to look before I switched to the
minimum 20 Warriors in order to keep phase out high:
- Lord (SoL, Orb, VoD)
- 3 x 10 Warriors
- 8 Immortals
- 2 x 3 Destroyers
- Monolith
Now my list looks like this:
- Lord (SoL, Orb, VoD)
- 2 x 10 Warriors
- 2 x 7 Immortals
- 2 x 3 Destroyers
- Monolith
My old list had 45 Necrons for a PO of 11 models, my new list has 41
Necrons for a PO of 10 models. A difference of a single model! Now
comparing the two lists, over half of my new list is T5 and can fire
at least 24" on the move with S5 or better. Being T5, only the very
few S10 ranged weapons will deny those Immortals and Destroyers WBB
and so can operate safely outside of Resurrection Orb range.
The way I play this list is to pretty much leave all of the dirty
work to the Immortals, Destroyers and Monolith while the Warriors
just sit back in or behind cover keeping my army from phasing out.
In most games, the Warriors don't do much but sit there and/or grab
objectives. If they can fire on something, then they will, but the
Warriors primary function is to avoid phase out. About the only army
I've had trouble with when using this list is a Tyranid TMC due to
lack of high strength low AP weapons which is a universal issue with
Necrons in general, lol!
Anyway, I think if you try this list out, you'll like it as much as I
do. The amount of firepower it puts out is nasty and then on top of
that it's very mobile to boot. Even though the Immortals don't need
the Orb coverage, I'll still run the Lord safely behind both squads
in order to veil either one when the situation warrants it. Anyway,
please post how the list does for you and your own personal opinions
on how it does. Anyway, good luck and happy harvesting!
