HI I don't know why they were painted green but it is a dark green similar to olive drab that modern artillery is painted, and the Old gaurd horse grenadiers...

Various sizes for me. I usually use 2"x3", 3"x3" square, or even 2"x 4", depending on the size of towns I wish to have. I use these sizes for other wargames...
