It's been a long, long time since I've posted any writeups. But last
weekend I had the (mis)fortune to sit through the four Toxic Avenger
movies, so....
The Toxic Avenger
(Melvin Junko)
Strength 11X
Agility 4X
Intellect 3X
Willpower 3X
Edge 1, Handsize 3 (17)
Calling: Outcast, Guardian (Tromaville)
Hindrances: Frenzied (against evil), Hateful (evil), Monstrous
Powers
Detection (Evil Detection) 15
Leaping 2
Resistance to Fire (and Radiation?) +7
Equipment:
Mop +0
Personality: Surprisingly well spoken even when murderous, kills each
bad guy using a different theme, devoted to his girlfriend (Sara or
Claire), Mamma's boy, helps little old ladies across the street, eats
cleaning chemicals.
Appearance: Bald bulging head, eyes at different levels, has a
combination of pasty and burnt skin, wears a blackened tutu with tights
and a sleeveless shirt, steams when aroused, fireworks appear when he
uses the toilet.
One-sentence movie plots
The Toxic Avenger (***, stupid fun caricatures): Mean-spirited prank
causes scrawny janitor Melvin Junko to fall into a barrel of a toxic
waste and mutate into a monster "of superhuman size and strength" who
becomes a hero by horribly mutilating and killing all the evildoers in
Tromaville before living happily ever after in the town's toxic waste
dump with his blind girlfriend.
The Toxic Avenger Part II (*1/2, poor but lots of gore): Evil
corporation Apocalypse Inc. tricks Toxie into windsurfing to Japan
where he fights his drug-smuggling faux-father and is doused with
Anti-Tromatons which he overcomes with the help of Sumo wrestlers
before returning to rescue Tromaville.
The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie (*, sucked the
last bits of fun out): Depressed Toxie needs to pay for his
girlfriend's eye surgery so he joins Apocalypse Inc. as their spokesman
and naively assists as they take over Tromaville before facing off
against the ultimate big bad behind the evil corporation.
The Toxic Avenger Part IV: Citizen Toxie (**1/2, back to basics plus
porn-star cameos): The explosion that wipes out a school of retards
(their term) and Toxie's sidekick Lard Ass sends Toxie to an evil
dimension where he runs from the law while his evil counterpart takes
over Tromaville until Toxie returns to battle for the life of his
unborn child.
Toxic adventures
Located just outside New York City, Tromaville, New Jersey is the toxic
waste capital of the world. Master criminals tend to be corrupt
politicians or businessmen. Thugs tend to be visible stereotypes or
members of groups outside the white suburban mainstream: Black or
latino gangbangers, Jews, midgets, foreigners, tranvestites, Indian
chiefs... the more ridiculous the better. Fights occur in mundane
locations, like fast food joints or video stores, and Toxie usually
uses the location as a theme when killing the evil doers (turning a
villain into a Sundae when in a restaurant, for instance). Cars explode
in huge fireballs at the slightest provocation. About once per movie, a
character will quote a classic work. The only consistent characters are
his mother and his girlfriend (whose name and appearance changed after
the first movie). Lots of gore and bathroom humor.
Design notes
No skills. He does use a mop, but he's never demonstrated a sufficient
level of skill to justify Clubs. There was also the Sumo subplot in the
second movie, but it's only referenced one other time and he never
displays any particular skill at Wrestling. Toxie has occasionally
demonstrated minor heat control, specifically causing burns by touch,
heating up water with his breath, and causing jars of popcorn to pop.
At best, this would be Fire Control 8 (Limits: Heat Only, Infrequent,
Striking Distance only, Unpredictable). That's too many Limits to be
worth listing in his main entry. Resistance to Fire is based on one
event in the second movie and his general ability to survive
explosions, and adding Resistance to Radiation is purely speculation.
Toxie was much dumber and more oblivious in the third movie, but I'm
going to attribute that to the contract.
