We are looking for individuals who would be interested in
creating/maintaining a page(s) on our server dedicated to a
particular gaming venue. We are a new site that is dedicated to
becoming the foremost gaming sites on the web. We want to present
this opportunity to as many fellow gamers as possible. We would like
to have very knowledgeable people maintaining the information on
these pages. For the most part, you would control the content and
layout of your page(s). If you wish, you can have your name right on
the page letting everyone know that it is you bringing them all that
info. We are gamers ourselves, but obviosly due to the many games
that are out there, we would just not have anywhere near enough time
to keep things up to date. We are willing to allow a page or pages
for just about any gaming system or particular type of a gaming
system. The object is to have a site where any gamer can begin
his/her search for info, links, downloads etc. The site will soon be
incorporating discussion forums. If interested, please reply to
greg@... Thank You.

On-Board Navigation System (* Correspondance, * Forces; or **
Correspondance, ** Forces for doors; ** Correspondance, Life ****, etc.)

Many of the newest cars contain on-board navigation systems, or even in
some cases a system that allows owners to be connected to a live operator
for navigation aid or to unlock the doors of their car. The New World
Order has devised this rote to also take advantage of these systems, by
accessing the devices to pinpoint the location of any vehicle so equipped.

They can easily open doors, and could even potentially, using additional
experimental technologies or orbital lasers, directly harm or aid the
occupants.

Technomancers simply connect computers to the on-board technology servers
and access speed, location, and directional information in a moment.

[ The first effect allows Technomancer's to locate a item's speed,
direction, with an exactness based on the number of successes made. Once
initial success on this roll occurs, further Correspondance effects should
be at a difficulty of that of a familiar object (again, depending on the
number of successes).]

The second effect allows the Technocrat to lock, or unlock the doors. She
can also access similar simple systems such as the headlights, or radio.
With enough successes and enough Spheres, the possibilities are limited
only by the Technoracy's limit on vulgarity. ]

Possible uses in campaign: PCs steal a brand-new rental car, not realizing
it contains 'On-Star' technology...

(I based this mostly on 2nd ed. Spheres, corrections & comments welcome)

Greetings,

This past evening (and without bothering to notify group
administrators), eGroups became Yahoo! Groups. This won't
have an effect on where you need to E-mail (you can still
address @egroups.com, as you can see above), but in order
to use any of the other facilities that eGroups used to
have, you'll need to 'convert' your account.

There is a link to the wizard used to do this at
www.egroups.com, and it's pretty easy - you just have to
know your E-mail address, eGroups password, Yahoo! ID (or
create one) and password.

I have to agree with Owen, the Caine concept is an "in-game" thing.
While I haven't looked lately for clues, I don't recall anything that
specifically points out where he is or even confirms his existence.

The storyteller of one chronicle I played had gifted a Malkavian with
a drop of Caine's vitae that was venturing through our WoD on its
own. It came to him in the form of a tooth/fang (gory description of
the tooth replacing one of the Malkavian's own was a fascination all
on it's own) and slowly by slowly Caine's tooth/vitae was sabotaging
all of the Malk's independent thought and action. Of course no one
was aware of what was happening at first...

In my own chronicle, we have left the concept of Caine lie mostly
dormant, though the Ventrue & Toreadors (and the few Brujah) who can
recite their lineages invariably do so with Caine as first
progenitor.

There are many theories about Caine, but you're thinking of this in too
absolute a mindset. It depends on the story in which you are playing
whether Caine even exists - Not so much that he's now dead, but whether he
ever really existed in the first place.

If your character is convinced that he does and the storyteller is prone to
letting you search him out, then you can do that *in-game*. I could be
terribly terribly wrong, but I don't think any sourcebooks say "Caine spoke
with [person still alive]", let alone "Caine was last seen [here]". I think
you'll have a hard time researching this out of game.

No it's not essential, but these spaces can be used for additional
information so you don't have to write it on the back, also these
small sheets can be used to keep track of the PC's or convert
NPC's to PC's (for "guest players") and keep track of NPC's health
and having the Humanity and stuf like courage, Nature in easy
format in front of you is a big help in playing the Character of the
NPC consistently.

That's a pretty handy tip. I hadn't thought of that. I wonder if
this Lexmark can do that...

How about that? If you print from Acrobat, you can print to fit the
page size. If you set the page size to "3x5 index card", it'll dump
the sheet right onto an index card.

So I guess I'm going to have to get a few blank index cards, eh? :)

Something that I thought I might like to do is create a web page that
prints out index card-sized crib notes for NPCs (without having to
adjust printer settings, or squint at the little type). Is all of
the information on a sheet essential?

I'll check the page later but for stat's of NPC's I have a tip. With
most new printers you have the option to print 4 pages on one
paper. When you print the Adobe acrobat form of the one page
character sheet you get a nice small character sheet (1/4 of a
normall sheet) and the resolution is quite good. You can fill in the
apropriate dots (I find that when making stat's for NPC's that
putting down dots is quicker and less hard that writing stats) and
you can use the backside for the more character info or, if you can
write small enough, the frontside. One thing however, when trying
this don't try to print the one page sheet 4 times at the 4 pages on
one paper mode, this will give you four pages with each one small
sheet.

I've been building a web application that helps generate written
character backgrounds with minimal effort (on the visitor's part,
anyway).

If you are still interested in Great Minds and/or White Wolf
roleplaying, please visit my site to check it out. I would
appreciate any comments you have on my preliminary design.

The direct address to the background generator is this:

http://www.rpgwire.com/characters/backgrounds

Please note that you should use IE5 to view this page. It works in
Opera 5, so it will probably work in anything, but I don't even
bother to test lousy old Netscape these days.

If after you have tried it you have some suggetions on some
different/additional paths to take (you'll know what I mean when you
try it), please let me know. It's possible that members of this list
might like to hear suggestions on creating character backgrounds, in
general.

ALSO - I'm interested in anyone's ideas on how to store NPC stats
during a game. Sure, I mostly run games without written stats for
useless NPCs, but if you do have an efficient way to store and recall
this info during a game (say, on index cards), I want to know about
it. I'd be particularly interested not just in that you use index
cards, but what information you find most valuable for that small
real estate and what doesn't make the cut.

It seems to me that everybody's dealing with a lot of confusion and
misunderstanding of what they are. I'm sure any look through Oriental
mythology will give you plenty of possible misconceptions, up to and
including the hunters thinking themselves new kitsune or gaki or whatever. I
would think that there would be quite a few more Visionaries and those of
high Vision and still more Mercy than Zeal.

Maybe you all should actively canvas the internet for

you should be trying to play to?

Okay, since noone's taken me up on my request to shift moderatorship
of this list, and since we've really not seen any major activity
recently, I am shutting down the list.

In truth, I took it over when it was well into its' death throes
on Netcom. But, now I've had a few life changes, and just can't devote
the time and effort to get it up and going again, as I was working towards.

You need do nothing--when I shut down the list, the list will just
disappear from your egroups listing.

It was almost an interesting ride. But the Great Minds list has outlived
its' usefulness, I think, and it's time to put it to rest.

If you feel it's worth continuing, please email me via the list or
off-list at minds-owner@egroups.com before Midnight EST September 9th.
On that date, at that time, I will pull the plug on the Great Minds
List forever.
