Well, the SDG (
http://superdupergames.org/) thing has been going well. At first
there were a few tweaks to be made (you had to keep track of your dead pile on
your own, for example, and there was one error in the game rules due to a simple
misunderstanding) but everything's ironed out now. I've been playing it
regularly and have a half-dozen or so completed games and more on the way.
One of the things I like a lot is that the site keeps stats ... so once there's
a large enough sample of completed games, you can look at a game's stats and
know how many moves and average game takes, whether there's a significant first-
or second-player advantage, and so on (at the moment, one critic of the game
predicts a "huge" first-player advantage for Mastery, while the initial stats
are showing a notable second-player advantage, but the sample is too small to
tell anything yet ... from my own experience I've never noticed it mattering
much either way).
And of course, the best thing has been playing against folks with wildly
different play styles from what I'm used to.
I've issued (as "ghalev") a Standing Challenge using a new feature of the site,
so by all means, please come around and let's play :)
