We are a group of modern board gamers who meet every Monday night at The Lion Tavern in Liverpool town centre. We play a range of games like Puerto Rico,Battlestar Galactica, Outpost, Small World, Power Grid etc. This site is used to plan larger games and for general announcements.

We meet from about 6.30 until closing time, enough time for 2 large games. If you intend to arrive after 7.00 PM let us know you're coming so you don't spend 2 hours waiting for a game to finish. The games are usually decided on the night, we bring a big selection each week but feel free to bring your own games to play. If you haven't played these games before we'll teach you the rules, and often play stuff that's just been released so we'll all need to learn it.

The Lion Tavern is on the corner of Tithebarn Street and Moorfields, opposite Moorfields station (Wirral and Northern lines), and 5 minutes walk from Lime Street station. For the sat.nav. users the postcode is L2 2BP. On-street parking in Moorfields, Bixteth Street and Pall Mall is free and plentiful, and buses to Dale Street or Victoria Street require only a short walk. Food is resticted to the excellent giant pork pies and salt-based snacks, there is a selection of good quality bitters, lagers and ciders as well as the chemical rubbish some people like. Our usual attendance is between 6 and 14 players (we have lots of irregulars) and we have reserved tables in one of the back rooms which gives us enough space for 3 large games and some privacy - curious onlookers amuse us some weeks with their questions, but generally we're left to ourselves. Twice this small pub has been too busy for gaming. If you can't see the games group (middle-aged men with lots of bags) check The Railway next door - we will probably be in a back room.
