Glad to hear that, Wendy - and thanks, chevnir - that was cool of
you to do that . . .

It might be worth mentioning again that it's totally fine with me if
anyone who has any of these files would like to share them through
email to others. All that I ask is that the zips be sent intact
(with the ReadMes included) so that all the necessary info is
there . . .

Hi Kate. You know, I've been curious about that myself but I
haven't checked into it much. I know of others who have done so,
and it doesn't seem like it should be too difficult. I'll make a
point to check out a light soon and see about adding that to an
ordinary object. I'll let you know what I find and how it goes.

I may as well try it with a counter . . . :)

"Pistachio" <kate@p...> wrote:

I'm working on atm is a lit counter, I've made one version that
lights up and it works well but has no ambient light surround it as
a lamp would (its using the fire light settings) - so step 2 is
getting a version that does this to see which I like better! Its a
retexture of the superstar boutique counter which imo with that
glass section in the middle was just crying out to be a lit counter!
Anyway I'd really appreciate being pointed in the right direction on
this one as it would be v useful thing to learn to do :)

Hi Clark. Each zip contains the paintings from that particular
expansion pack. So if you have them all, you would want all four
zips to cover the ones from the original Sims through Hot Date . . .

I belong to another group that also has this problem with bandwidth
and they suggest you download within the first ten minutes at the top
of the hour. I tried that last night and was able to get two files.

A while ago, I posted a question on the Sims Resource regarding the
stupid problem with the move_objects cheat. Laphelot gave me a fix
(THANK YOU!!!!!!!) and I was finally able to creat me story! This

the beginning of the story. If you've got the time, please read it

You are right, Sir_Laphelot, it takes persistence to get the files from
Yahoo when the bandwidth monster strikes. I managed to get all the
files but three at 1:00 am and then got the last three at 4:00 am. I
basically just keep the window open and try the downloads every few
minutes until they get through, lol. Persistence is definitely the key.

Hi everyone,

This is a great site, thank you to Sir Laphelot, for all your hard
work. I managed to download all the files but one, the Superstar
Fence Upgrade, and Yahoo won't let me download that one at all. I
don't think it's the bandwidth monster, coz I managed to download
files after that one wouldn't download. If anyone has a suggestion,
I'd really
appreciate it. :)
Thanks again

Thank you chrevnir and Lucy - and sorry about the trouble. I just
heard back from someone who sent me a message earlier today saying
she couldn't download anything at all. She wrote back to say that
she tried later and downloaded five files but kept getting kicked
out. She then tried later and had no trouble downloading the rest
of what she wanted . . .

So I think Yahoo is just having trouble with a hundred new members
joining a new group all in the same day, with many wanting to
download at the same time - on a Labor Day weekend!

So all I can really say is that if you're still having trouble, try
again later tonight (or maybe 4 am!) I was going to announce this a
few other places, but I think I'll hold off for a while!

Sir_Laphelot, you are out of bandwidth. I have been trying to download
the majority of your files since about 1 pm EDT today, and so far I
have 5 files, lol! It will just take a lot of time for those 60 of us
that joined recently to get the files, I guess.

And may I say, thank you for starting this group. I love all of your
tweaks and upgrades, you make my game so much more enjoyable, I am
fairly faint with excitement at the prospect of these new patches.
Thank you so much for making my game fun for me! Have a great weekend!

I was so happy to find this group but I can't download anything
either. Tried several times. I'm getting 403 forbidden. "You are not
authorized to view this page." May be the bandwidth monster.

I just woke up and found that sixty people joined while I was

Hi, Iris - it's good to see you here - that was funny what you said!

And thank you and welcome Rob, PamySue, Linda and Lori - I'm glad
you're happy with the things I've done in the past - though Lori, I
should say that I can't take credit for the two things you
mentioned . . . :)

Hi Nancie - I saw the question you asked at Simslice. I had the
same thought quite a while ago that it would be cool if it could be
done, but I never checked into it. Just a few days later, someone
at TSR asked the same thing, so you both inspired me to do it! I'll
be working on the more "graphically correct" final version soon, as
soon as I finish the painting (which I hope to spend time on
tonight . . . )

Hey Kate - this group may not be existing right now if it wasn't for
you! I started it almost two weeks ago, but didn't tell anyone. I
had uploaded three files, then began wavering between trying this or
something else. On a whim, my sister peeked in a few days later and

out there that I'm sure will help - including some for those who are
just beginning, to familiarize you with the basics of certain
hacking programs, and how an iff file is set up, etc. I'm behind on
knowing what's all been done lately, but I think Mistress Vera's
site has links to many (if not all) of them . . .

One thing I'd like to do soon is work on the links section and list
some sites with good tutorials and hacking info - and also some
threads on TSR that have been helpful. I've also had the thought to
write up a few myself, but I haven't got around to it . . .

And greetings to the genius Sir Laphelot himself of course !
Just a quickie - would it be at all acceptable for me to pick your brains on a
bit of remedial hacking? I'm sure you get loads of people asking so I wont be at
all offended if you say no! I don't have the patience or the skills to create
anything remotely useful and have always been totally amazed by your creations -
me, I'm just happy if I can make sims learn something different from a bookcase
I made lol!

Wow - thank you, Karen! You - and many others - have made it
worthwhile to continue sharing these things by your enthusiasm! Of
course, I enjoy changing things too when I'm able - to see if I can
make the game a little better and more rewarding to play . . .

I've been working on a new object lately, and it looks like it
should be ready in the next few days. It's a painting you can use
to assign interests to your sims. You click on it, choose an
interest, and then a number between 0 and 10. The sim will go up to
it and then let you know what he or she thinks about your decision!

You can also use it on the lots away from home. But still, I wanted
to do more with it. I've been having trouble talking to the
somebodys/anybodys especially - it seems like they only have one or
two main interests assigned to them. I had been meaning to go into
Sim Enhancer and change them, but that can be a tedious process . . .

So I also made it so visitors will go up to it on their own and have
certain selected interest values assigned to them, as you watch
their reactions. I selected one or two values for every interest,
and made it so it would only be available (in this situation) to
sims with certain personalities, skills, etc - whatever seemed to
fit. For example, somebodys/anybodys would be attracted to
hollywood and style, those with high creativity attracted to music,
etc - etc . . .

In that situation, interest points can only go up and never down -
and only those who are not neighborhood sims will be able to do so
on their own. So that means you never need to be concerned about
your neighborhood sims viewing the painting on their own and having
their interests changed - only non-neighborhood sims will be able to
do that. So you can assign your neighborhood sims any amount in any
interest you want, and it will stay that way . . .

I think the part I like the most about this is when I began to
ponder over what kind of painting to use for this. I tried to
envision some type of image that a sim could look at and see
practically anything. I even thought of using an ink blot! So I
began searching the web, and eventually found a website belonging to
an artist named Lynne Taetzsch. http://www.artbylt.com/

She has ten galleries on her site full of colorful abstract canvases
she's painted - and I found one that would be perfect for this!
From what I can tell, she's rather well-known, and her work has
travelled all over. But I sent her an email explaining what I had
in mind and what I would like to do, asking for permission, and she
said yes! So I'm rather excited about that!

I only have a little bit of touching up left to do, and I'll let you
know when it's ready . . . :)

Hi everyone. I suppose I should say first that I'm not abandoning
Simslice and taking off on my own. But I've been thinking of a way
to make the newer things I've done available to others, and a Yahoo
group seemed like the best solution. Of course you need to join
before you can download anything - but once you do, you can have
some new game fixes and other things you may not be able to find
anywhere else.

Also, feel free to share any of the files posted here through e-mail
to anyone you like - it's fine with me . . .

I know that forums can sometimes take on a life of their own rather
quickly - but I'm hoping most of the posting here will be sim-
related - that is, questions and comments about the files, or
anything concerning the game in general - and help and solutions of
course . . .

I'll be checking in from time to time to see how things are going
and I'll try to answer what I can. There's a lot I still don't know
about, so hopefully others will help out too with that . . . :)

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy your visit here,

   -Kurtis (Sir_Laphelot)
