With the splat books removed from the game, most of the special access
from the various meta-orgs related with Trithereon are now obsolete.
On the other hand, there's lots of new goodies from the various
sourcebooks to get access to.
What has caught your eye? What should the meta-orgs now grant access to?
If we can build a new list, we can submit it to the Circle for approval.
happy new year all !
now that the Year 3 scenarios have retired, here's some stuff i've
written up to submit to the Tritherion Metabook - summaries of the
Core, Splintered Suns Metaregional and Onnwal Regional scenarios
that i know of which have involved Tritherion related goings-on.
hope at least some of it's useful ?

COR1-08 "The Future's Bright" & COR3-01 "The Hidden Fortress"
A powerful Onnwalon sorceror, adventurer and follower of Trithereon
named Slanisar Bantu was lost after his personal ship, The Azure
Warden, was attacked and destroyed by some unknown dark agency off
the coast of the Bright Desert and he was drawn into the desert by
the Dreaming. A later mission to the Bright Desert, sponsored by a
priestess of Osprem from Kildeer named Marya Jernal, discovers
Slanisar's desiccated corpse in an ancient tower along with a letter
he wrote during his last days. In accordance with the letter's
instructions the adventurers take his corpse with them back to
Onnwal and deliver it to Eljayess, a follower of Tritherion based in
Kildeer.
ONW1-06 "Remember the Farmers"
Thirty-four Onnwalon farmers were burnt alive by the Scarlet
Brotherhood in Scant's Grand Market in Richfest 385CY. A soldier
named Leviticus was one of those who gathered the Farmers and put
them to the torch, receiving a vision from Pyremius during the
burning and creating the Scabbard of Pyremius in the flames. A group
of adventurers are recruited to ambush Leviticus, bring him to
justice and recover the Scabbard of Pyremius so that it can be
destroyed. In return for their work the adventurers are gifted with
the Sword of Remembrance, a masterwork silvered longsword forged in
Sornhill by Onrulf the Smith Prince using silver donated by Duchess
Saielma Relaster. The sword is blessed publicly in the name of Wenta
and secretly in the name of Tritherion at a Ceremony of Remembrance
for the Farmers, held in the Briny Halls at Sornhill and presided
over by a priest of Wenta named Havel, at which the adventurers are
guests of honour. The blade is inscribed with the symbol of Wenta, a
highly decorated tankard.
ONW2-05 "Rest in Peace"
The priests of Sornhill having discovered that the souls of the
Farmers are bound within the Scabbard of Pyremius, a group of
adventurers is asked to take the Scabbard to the Pool of Peace, a
place in the Headlands of Onnwal sacred to Wenta. Placing the
Scabbard in the Pool is the only way to destroy the Scabbard and
free the souls of the Farmers without dooming those souls to an
eternity trapped in Limbo. Arriving at the Pool despite Brotherhood
and Pyremian forces attempting to stop them, the adventurers throw
the Scabbard into the Pool where it is dissolved away and destroyed
as hoped, but the process corrupts the Pool and turns its waters
from crystal clear to stagnant black, tainting the Pool with evil
and killing its guardian, a water mephit named Watha. However, the
souls of the farmers are indeed freed - thirty-three of the souls
float off as pinpricks of light and travel on to the afterlife. One
of the souls remains behind, wishing to bond with the Sword of
Remembrance and its wielder in order to seek vengeance on the
Brotherhood. This soul was Branwenden of Scant, formerly a
worshipper of Wenta who since his death has devoted himself to
Tritherion in hopes of finding justice and revenge for his death and
the death of his fellow Farmers, one of whom was his younger
brother. If his offer is accepted then the Sword becomes a +1 Ghost
Touch weapon and the decoration on the tankard of Wenta inscribed on
the blade resolves into the symbol of Tritherion. There is a price
to pay, however, as Branwenden's will competes with that of the
Sword's wielder making them somewhat clumsier.
ONW3-05 "To Hell & Back"
A group of adventurers travels to Deenas Pyragov, "The Eye of Fire &
Smoke", largest of the Hezarin Isles. Within the dormant volcano on
this island the adventurers find an ancient temple to Ranet, a lost
Suel goddess of fire who was murdered by Pyremius, parts of which
have been corrupted to the worship and service of Pyremius and parts
of which are used by the Brotherhood wizard Martoch as a laboratory.
On encountering the Brotherhood monk Obadiah, who was present at the
Burning, some of the latent powers within the Sword of Remembrance
come to the surface and fill the Sword's wielder with the strength
of righteous vengeance. If the ancient vault in Martoch's office is
opened then some of the power released permanently enhances the
Sword of Remembrance such that its enchantment becomes more potent,
its wielder is a little less clumsy, it can detect evil and its
wielder's strength is increased when fighting against the Scarlet
Brotherhood, but in payment for this the wielder becomes slightly
more vulnerable to fire and can never compromise with the
Brotherhood.
TSS3-05 "For the Family's Honour"
During the Greyhawk Wars a vassal of Baron Halshas Geldrenn of
Onnwal fought in the campaigns of Idee. In addition to his men at
arms he was accompanied by his eldest son Serdorb Brandrenn, his
younger son Avorn, and Avorn's son and page Cavius. In the early
days of 382CY the father died in battle and passed the family's
heirloom, an axe sacred to Heironeous, on to Serdorb. Later in the
campaign, after liberating an occupied Ideean village, Serdorb began
assaulting Ideean women demanding a "soldier's pay". When his
brother discovered this Serdorb was punished and sent out into the
countryside alone, disarmed and unarmoured. This saved his life, as
Ivid's forces counterattacked the village soon afterwards and
slaughtered Avorn and his men. A short time later a priest of
Tritherion named Evannal led a column of Sunndian scouts to liberate
the village once more and discovered Cavius, left for dead, holding
the axe. Once the Greyhawk Wars were over Evannal took Cavius back
to the village of Queslor near the Vast Swamp and raised him in the
ways of the Summoner as an archer and priest, placing the sacred axe
in the village's shrine to Tritherion.
Meanwhile, Serdorb had returned to Onnwal as the only known survivor
of his family and claimed his ancestral seat in Silvervale as a
vassal of Baron Geldrenn. Travelling to Queslor over ten years
later, Serdorb murdered Evannal on the eve of the Festival of
Freedom and reclaimed the family's sacred axe, but in doing so was
recognised by Cavius. Cavius swore vengeance for Evannal's death and
his family's dishonour and travelled to Onnwal, where a group of
adventurers is caught up in his first attempt to assassinate Serdorb.
Depending on the adventurers' actions, Serdorb may continue as Lord
Brandrenn, be killed by the adventurers, be executed by Baron
Geldrenn or escape. Cavius may die, return to Sunndi or be appointed
as the new Lord Brandrenn.
TSS3-06 "The Prisoner"
A sizeable detachment of Ahlissan guards is transporting a group of
twenty-two slaves from the Calling Mines to Wyverntor. These slaves
are all Sunndian citizens captured during the Greyhawk wars,
including a dwur warrior named Furgern who was a personal friend of
King Hazendel and has a message for him concerning the fate of his
fiancee, who disappeared during the battle of Rieuwood. One slave, a
ranger named Robern, manages to escape during the night thanks to
the help of an undercover agent of the Idee Rebels. Robern runs into
the woods and stumbles across the camp of a group of adventurers,
whom he persuades to free his comrades and escort them home to
Sunndi. For their heroism in this endeavour King Hazendel awards the
adventurers the Order of the Bronze Sun and they earn the gratitude
of the Churches of Tritherion throughout the lands around Ahlissa.
TSS3-08 "Prisoners of the Calling Mines"
A number of slaves manage to escape from the Calling Mines of
Ahlissa and flee south to Sunndi, but during their escape many of
them have their minds ravaged by an allip that was lurking in the
tunnels. The Sunndian Church of Tritherion heals this damage free of
charge, leaving the escaped slaves in their debt.
Thanks for your feedback. I will correct all the
typos, mis-spellings and grammar errors you mention.
The section on the KotC will be C&Ped straight in!
And I would be grateful for any summaries of the
adventures you mention.

happy to oblige, looks good - nice work, should be a very useful
document. i have some comments, suggestions and proofreading points
listed below:
pg 3 para 1 - "called by some the" might read better as "called by
some by the"
pg 3 para 3 - "Tehn" should be "Tenh"
pg 3 para 5 - "Xaevner" should be "Xavener"
pg 4 end of first paragraph after "The Faith in the Splintered
Suns" - "on those regions" should presumably be either "of those
regions" or "in those regions"
pg 5 para 2 - do you mean "the secession of" rather than "the
succession of" ?
pg 5 para 5 - "Xaevner" should be "Xavener" again
pg 6 para 2 - "no headquarters, written rules" would be clearer
as "no headquarters or written rules" or "no headquarters, no
written rules"
Knights of the Chase - from the Splintered Suns metabook, might also
be worth mentioning their secret cant "The Pursuer's Code", the
difference betwen Squires and dubbed Knights, the common uniform of
most Knights and their oaths.
e.g. something along the lines of the following paragraph:
" Squires of the order commonly wear chainmail and cloak in the blue
of Tritherion, while those who have been dubbed full-fledged Knights
have their mail and cloak emblazoned with silver or gold pursuit
runes. As a result, many have given the Knights the nickname
of "Bluecloaks" or "Silvercloaks". The Knights are sworn to own no
more than they can carry with them or on a horse, and never to turn
away from those in need of rescue or protection unless those in
question are themselves guilty of oppression. Full Knights are also
rumoured to share a secret cant which they use to communicate
privately with each other, known as "The Pursuer's Code". "
pg 7, under "The Kingdom of Ahlissa" para 1 - "Xaevner" should
be "Xavener" again. the last sentence also implies that the Knghts
are keeping watch against the church of the Summoner, would be
clearer without the second comma.
pg 8, para 1 - "Xaevner" should be "Xavener".
pg 8, para 2 - "Naeire" should be "Naerie", "Xaevner's" should
be "Xavener's".
pg 9 para 2 - "the entire country were," should presumably just
be "the entire country,".
pg 9 para 2 - "The priest were" should presumably be "The priests
were".
pg 9 para 3 - "The ranks of the clergy was" should be "The ranks of
the clergy were".
pg 10 para 2 - "nobles and in some of" would read better as "nobles
and those in some of" or as "nobles and some of".
pg 10 para 4 - "Churches' on Onnwal" should presumably be "Chruches'
in Onnwal" or "Churches' of Onnwal" ?
pg 10 para 4 - "meaing" should be "meaning".
pg 10 para 5 - "an relic" should be "a relic".
pg 11 - might make sense to list the Church ranks in the order "lay
member, priest and curate" since Curate is a higher rank then Priest.
i'd be happy to write up a summary of the Tritherion-related events
in the Regional scenarios ONW2-04 "Rest in Peace" and ONW3-05 "To
Hell & Back", as well as a summary of those in ONW1-04 "Last
Respects" based on the info from Bart's website
at "http://www.banaticus.com/onnwal", if those would be of help.
pg 12 - "tollerant" should be "tolerant", should "surrounding
nation" be "surrounding nations" ?
pg 13 - "small bands specific missions" should presumably be "small
bands on specific missions".
hope this helps,

Enemies and Allies - Part 1
The Church of Lydia
Lydia's teachings of individual freedom and personal responsibility
have historically made the followers of Trithereon look favourably on
this Suel goddess. However, how they are treated now depends on where
they are encountered.
In areas that were never occupied by the Scarlet Brotherhood, the two
organisations continue to work together, albeit in a slightly more
arms-length relationship. Many still wonder how it was that the
Brotherhood managed to move so swiftly and with such accuracy in its
invasion of surrounding lands, and there has long been the suspicion
that some of the priests of the Suel pantheon in the region had more
than a passing sympathy for the Red Oppressors. However, relations
are gradually thawing between the groups, especially in Sunndi, where
the small church of Lydia has shown its good faith by taking in and
educating many of the orphans that have been created in the constant
conflicts in the area.
In the occupied lands, however, and especially in Onnwal, things are
different. Memories are still fresh here of the many `re-education
camps' run by the Brotherhood priests of Lydia, and passing priests of
all Suel gods, with the possible exception of Phaulkon, are regarded
as highly suspect, particularly if they are of Suel extraction
themselves.
The Jade Mask
Ostensibly, this organisation dedicated to the protection and
re-establishment of the Iron League should be natural allies of the
Trithereonites. However, their secrecy, self-selecting nature and
suspected ulterior motives cause the Summoner's followers to treat
them with extreme caution. In particular, their constant,
semi-explicit promotion of Oeridian causes and interests above all
others make many see them as simply another group attempting to
recreate the Great Kingdom in their own image, or worse, a dark mirror
of the Scarlet Brotherhood, preaching racial hatred and the
superiority of one group over another.
Interesting little read, am I to take it we`re going to see a
Trithereonite Metabook?

The Tenets of the Faith
In The Shackle Sundered, one of the holy books of Trithereon penned by
a former high priest, Peretin Lowstrider of Rauxes, the point is made:
It is not enough simply to achieve Liberty. Those who love freedom
must do their best to protect it, and the best way to do this is to
bring home to would-be tyrants and oppressors that their rule will not
be tolerated. Only by vigourously pursuing Liberty for oneself can it
be secured for all. Simply being free is not enough.
It is this ethos that best sums up the faith of Trithereon. While
striving to liberate the oppressed from those who dominate them, it
also pursues and punishes those guilty of oppression. What exactly
constitutes `oppression' varies according to the outlook, formative
experiences, and zealotry of each individual adherent, but almost all
understand it to include
• tyrants
• slavers
• those who rule by force
• those who prey on the weak
Followers of the Summoner often act as freedom fighters and
underground resistance leaders in the occupied nations of the
Splintered Suns. Even in liberated areas, they pursue bandits, former
collaborators and deposed rulers, bringing them to `justice', often of
a rough, ready and rather brutal sort.
The Faith Today
Throughout the region, the faith of Trithereon continues to act as
champions of the oppressed, fighting against the occupying forces. In
liberated areas, such as Sunndi, it keeps one eye on the governments,
making sure that they do not turn to tyrany, while turning the other
towards Ahlissa, not believing for a moment Overking Xaevner's
promises that he has no territorial ambitions in the region.
Two issues in particular exercise the faith at the moment. The first
is the fate of prisoners in Ahlissa. Despite the Overking's promise
that all prisoners have been repatriated, rumours persist of slave
gangs working the mines of Hollow Highlands, particularly the infamous
Calling Mines. A group of freeswords recently returned to Sunndi with
a group of liberated prisoners, and the church there is up in arms,
urging retaliative strikes against the Ahlissans.
The other is the recent arrival of Ahlissan troops in Onnwal, and the
price that the Onnwallon Szek, Jian Destron, had to pay for their
help, in recognising Ahlissan sovereignty in Naerie. This move is
widely seen, not just by the Trithereonites, as the first step in an
Ahlissan campaign to recover its historic provinces in the area by a
programme of careful subversion, and the faithful of the Summoner are
gearing up to resist the replacement of a Scarlet oppressor by ones
wearing the Imperial Sun.
The Faith in The Splintered Suns
The Splintered Suns region has always been a fruitful region for the
faith. Even before the former Great Kingdom of Aerdi fell into
madness and tyranny, when it was ruled by kings who were generally
wise and benevolent, there were always those throughout its wide lands
who sought to impose their will on others through force, for whatever
end. Numerous `Princes' – mostly petty nobles with barely any
holdings – saw the peasantry as a means to increase their own wealth
and power, and the faithful of the Summoner are still remembered as
champions of the common folk on those regions of Aerdi that have not
totally fallen to evil.
The faithful of Trithereon long fought against what they dubbed "The
Twin Oppressors" – the faiths of Heironeous and Hextor, who were seen
as equally rigid and dangerous, even though they sought to achieve
their means by different ends. As established churches within Aerdi,
they wielded enormous power, and the Trithereonites were ever wary as
to how it was being exercised. Furthermore, the other major faith in
the kingdom, that of Zilchus the Coinfather, was viewed by them as a
selfish, amoral organisation that cared only for profit, which would
happily trample others beneath them for the sake of a few coppers.
When the Great Kingdom descended into evil, and madness seized the
occupants of the Malachite Throne, the faith of Trithereon fought a
valiant rearguard action against the growing tyranny, and was
instrumental in fomenting some of the revolts that led to the
succession of many of the southern states of the Aerdi empire and the
eventual formation of the Iron League. Although eventually driven
from and banned in the Great Kingdom itself, the faith regrouped in
the surrounding states, and mounted raids into the Kingdom, focussing
particularly on liberating the slave gangs and prisoner details that
were pressed into the Overking's service.
While the emergence of the Scarlet Brotherhood in 572CY was noted by
the faith, it was not perceived as an immediate threat – the enemy on
the doorstep was considered far more serious. Indeed, the beginning
of the Greyhawk Wars was seen as somewhat of an opportunity by the
Trithereonites, with a chance to rally the faithful and deal a
deathblow to the tyrant in Rauxes once and for all. Thus, they were
as unprepared as anyone else when the Brotherhood struck from the
shadows, shattering the Iron League, capturing several of its states
and fragmenting the alliance.
In those states occupied by either the Brotherhood or the Aerdi, the
faith immediately went underground, forming resistance cells and
leading the fight against the occupiers. Taking whatever allies of
convenience they could, the Trithereonites found ready converts
amongst those driven from their homes, or made to pay homage to
foreign powers.
The Tenets of the Faith
In The Shackle Sundered, one of the holy books of Trithereon penned by
a former high priest, Peretin Lowstrider of Rauxes, the point is made:

sounds like a fine plan !

the ones that i know of from Year 1 and Year 2 are:
ONW1-07 "Hunters Hunted (For Whom the Bells Toll)"
see http://www.banaticus.com/onnwal/1/1-07.htm
and ONW2-04 "Rest in Peace" has Tritherion involved with the
Tankards of Wenta and the Sword of Remembrance.
i didn't play any of the Onnwal Specials from those years apart
from "The Envoy", so don't know if any of those involved relevant
stuff.

I think it would be useful to put together a Trithereon meta-book
covering all aspects of the Summoner's church in the Splintered Suns.
It could list established churches, meta-orgs (e.g. the Knights, the
Hounds), known temples, important NPCs - essentially a single place we
can gather together all important information.
We should also list 'historical' information that has occurred in
(expired) adventures in the region that has involved the Knights,
Hounds , Church etc.
It needn't be complex, or very long.
Any comments/suggestions?
> One of my (non-KotC) characters encountered these guys in a

i know that they're one of the Sunndian Metaorgs available to PCs.
there's a brief bit of background info about them in one of the Year
4 Metaregionals (won't say which to avoid spoilers), but it's fairly
sketchy - basically just mentions that they're a group of orphans
(mostly refugees from Idee, Onnwal and the Lendorian Isle) who are
raised by the Temple of Tritherion in Sunndi as fanatic
Tritherionites who then spread over the region to fight for the
cause of Freedom or take vengeance on those who chased them from
their homeland and killed their parents. they apparently have a bad
reputation in Sunndi as troublemakers who are intolerant of lawful
religions and people with a different opinion ! some (all?) of them
have a black tattoo on their upper arm showing a hound head over the
rune of pursuit.
have you tried the Sunndi website / Y*h**! group / Metagaming
document ?

Sure. http://www.sunndi.org , and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Sunndi
in the files section (meta org book and membership ARs). At sunndi.org
look through the various mini missions as well, they're often (ab)used

being a Church member doesn't count (since it isn't the same thing
as having an Influence Point), but being a Priest or Curate in the
Onnwal Church of Tritherion automatically gives you a certain number
of RIPs (Regional Influence Points) with that Church each year,
which you can either keep for yourself or give to other characters.
there's also a Year 3 Metaregional scenario (won't say which one to
avoid spoilers) which can give players an Influence Point with the
Churches of Tritherion throughout the Metaregion.

that's just flavour text, which afaik is assumed to be covered by
the other prerequisites, the Metaregional folks giving you an
authorisation code and the GM signing the certificate.
> Oh aye, while I`m at it does the church have a rank structure and

the Established Churches in Onnwal currently have four different PC
ranks (Lay Members, Paladins, Priests and Curates) with higher ranks
restricted to NPCs. see the Onnwal Metagaming Handbook for details.
> the weapon proficiency requirement just means you can use the
> weapon right?
yep, and a level of Fighter will automatically give you proficiency
with all Martial Weapons (including spear and longsword).
xan
Got it thanks, (both to xan and lilitheris) however I now have
some more questions (bet you wish I`d never joined the list :-) ) - it says in the
requirements that you 'Must have gained the recognition of the Knights
of the Chase through heroic deeds in the service of freedom by gaining
an influence point with either a church of Trithereon, the Knights of
the Chase or a member of the Knights', now I`m a Cleric of Trithereon
(got the cert and all) which means I have well liked RIP with the
church, does this count or do I have to go slap some more misguided red
robed lunatics about (yes, I`m Onnwalese and Suloise) to get said
influence point?
Also, the requirements also say that you 'Must be approved by a Master
Priest of Trithereon and must be an ardent worshipper of the Summoner.'
Umm, how do you A/ get approved? (I know the High Priest in Sornhill if
that`s any good) and B/ prove the ardent worshipper thing? (it`s a tad
hard to do in your average module)
Oh aye, while I`m at it does the church have a rank structure and
if so how does it work?
Lastly, the weapon proficiency requirement just means you can use the
weapon right? I`m taking a level of Fighter for my next level (4th,
2000xp to go) and I just want to check if the Fighter proficiency needs
to go on anything.
I know I`m being a nuisance but I`m trying to research this stuff so
that when I try to join (hopefully at next level) I have all the info
the DM needs to hand rather than going "DM`s name, I`d like to join
this Knights of the Chase Meta-org, can you get the info on it?", they
have enough to do without me dumping more on them.
The Splintered Suns book is much appreciated as it also gives info on
the Jade Mask which another player has expressed an interest in.
Thanks for your help,

full details of the Knights of the Chase Meta-Org and Prestige Class
are given in the Splintered Suns Metagaming book, which is available
as a pdf file from the Files section of the Splintered Suns Yahoo!
Group at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thesplinteredsun
not sure if it's in the Files section of this Group or not - if not,
i'll see if i've got permission to upload it.

Hello, I`m playing a Cleric of Tritherion in Living and am interested in
taking Holy Liberator as a prestige class. However to do that it appears
you have to be a member of The Knights of the Chase which wouldn`t be a
problem if it wasn`t for the fact that none of us have Dragon 297 where
said Meta-Org was described. Do any of you know where I can get a copy
of said mag or where the Knights are described on the web?
Cheers,
Neil
