There are currently 28 books and 12 novels.

Whilst the novels will remain at 12, Joe Dever is currently in the
process of finishing off his series and writing the final 4 books to
make a grand total of 32 books :)

Also I believe the first book has been re-written to include a new
introduction whereas you play Lone Wolf DEFENDING the Kai Monastery
through Zagarna's initial attack instead of simply waking up in the
forest.
