Have you guys ever seen the movie "Priest"?
Not a bad little film, is quite a few years old now, but basically
tells the story of the new priest arriving in this little Irish (I
think) town and his attempts to fit in with the community, win over
people's trust etc.
There's this one scene where a young girl has come to confessional
and admitted that her stepfather is sexually abusing her. Now, due to
the rules of confessional, the priest cannot tell anyone about this,
and thus is powerless to help the girl. He prays for guidance, but
his emotions get the better of him and he starts screaming at God,
asking how He could let something like this happen and what is he
(the priest) supposed to do about it?
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, the mother of the child has
come home early for some unimportant and irrelevant reason, and
catches said stepfather in the act.
Interesting, isn't it? Ranting and screaming about something you want
to happen and all the time it actually is happening just a stone's
throw away, without you even knowing....
Hmm, I'm sure I had a point there somewhere. Oh well, it's all too
deep for me. Best to just forget it and go back to that ARG-
fansite 'zine I was reading. Oh, those poor co-eds...
