I'll be there!

Hope we don't get snow...last time cable was buggy was snowy... may not matter though.

I was all set for a few good hours of gaming too.

James, when I tried to join via magicstar's web page, the java

the default room, type "/join #indierpgs" without the quotes.

Woohoo! Interest! :)

I sure hope so... I'm planning on getting one started as soon as
the SOAP game finishes up, which should be this week or next.

I was kind of wondering if anyone else would be interested in
running a Cornerstone playtest. I'd kind of like to see how it
works with a "clean slate" as it were... a GM who can come to
the table without the preconceived notions of the designer
(I.E., me).

Fun was had by all,

but we almost didn't need the game system at all ...though the formatting makes it nice for forum / pbem play

It's interesting... SOAP almost seems incoherent. On the one
hand it's a trim, elegant framework for free-form nar / sim
gaming. On the other hand, there seem to be some elements of
gamism there - the encouragement to mess with other player's
characters, trying to guess their secrets so you can kill them
off, competition in bidding wars, etc.

I think we drifted it pretty hard to the nar / sim side of
things throughout our play. We only used the challenge mechanic
once, and that was when one of Bob's sentences directly
conflicted with Chris' character's Secret.

I think one of you guys should start an Actual Play thread about
the game. I'd do one myself, but I'm getting ready to go to
Springfield, so I don't think I have the time to give it the
coverage it really deserves.

Cornerstone next Monday! The tentative setting is a Jules Verne

Victorian day setting with interesting gadgets like "Analytical

center around an expedition to the planet Mars, where we will
explore Martian canals, Martian jungles, Martian volcanos, etc.

How is this going to work? Lemme know because I want to play. I
have Martian Dreams. I'm seriously into it.

Alas, I'd like to play too. But it sounds as if you meet on Monday
night and I work second shift and don't get home until 12:30 AM.

Sigh...

I'll just have to test it myself.

Ok...

we probably should post characters to the list by the weekend or earlier.

Make sure you have an IRC (internet relay chat) client program working.

I'm on a Win2000 PC using the chat client.... mIRC (which was easy enough to set up)

We will get together to play on Magicstar IRC at 8 CST

http://www.magicstar.net/

in the room  #indierpgs    (for the game narration)

and probably #indie_ooc   (for out of character chat and Dicebot rolling)

Nathan (Paganini) is running this...I'm sure he'd like as many testers as possible.

Check out the Cornerstone rules, they're easy... players can run either 'straight' rolls provide me with "wins", or, (in a Donjon/Pool way) rolls provide me with a "Facts"...or a mix of both in one roll.

I'll be posting my character later tonight...

I'll be dropping in to check it out. I'd love to play, but I've never game on the net before and I'd like to just sort of get a feel for it first. Hell, since I'm groupless, this might be my lucky break...

Would be cool to play Cornerstone, though...

Make up a character anyway! :>

Play goes slow enough over the web (because we are all typing it out) its easy enough to jump in once it gets going. You can let others go first for a bit...

None of us have ever done Cornerstone (including Nathan) so, we'll have to work out how we do things in that game anyway.

We often get their early...well, I do. I'd be happy to show you how we do the dice rolling etc... same with anyone else whos reading this!
