Although there was talk of cancelling the game on July 22, we will in
fact be playing Amtgard. Those of you who aren't at Clan should come
out with the rest of us, at the usual time and place.

Greetings again to Our undead minions, and to you still among the
living:

This weekend We visited the Duchy of the Iron Mountains, on Saturday,
where Our undead minions fought numerous invaders in one of the many
graveyards that dot the land after our invasion. The battle was
glorious. The sun unfortunately was out and it made Us long for the
cool dark of night, despite that fact the attendance was very good.

Sunday was the first of Our Imperial Game Days. We were disappointed
that very few members of neighboring lands journeyed to the Northern
Holdfast to participate in the games. Despite that fact, attendance
was good in the Holdfast as well. We understand that a group of
spiders and one of Our mummies fought valiantly to defend the crypts
of another graveyard from invaders. It appears that our generous
invitations go unanswered, We will have to show Our vassals what
homage they owe the Empire. Expect to be seeing Our undead legions
in your towns very soon.

Next week Prince Lief shall accompany Us to the annual Gathering of
the Clans. Much will be discussed between Us and the other Monarchs
of the world. As always We are glad to accept wise counsel on those
matters, specifically changes to the rulebook.

To the populace of the Duchy of the Iron Mountains-
I, your Duchess, have been sent on a journey by the Lich King.  I cannot share the details with you, but know I go to raise the opinion of our Duchy in the dread lord's eyes.  It will be fraught with peril, but I will succeed.  Know that I will return and lead you once again the next time we meet.
Regent River will be overseeing our lands in my absence.  Take any problems up with her.

Hey folks!  My family is having its annual get-together in Gunnison this weekend and Lief and I are headed off to that.  We'll be back next weekend.  If you have any problems, take them up with River.

I would have to agree with our new Duchess Cutari on this! There is nothing better than a fighter that can rez someone bigger and better. If you were at Rakis this year what was the most formidable duo on the field while the castle zombie battle was going on? My point exactly! Healers have the ability to change the dynamics of any battle game when done right. (tear drops) I love those guys!

Healers can be anything.  They can play a support role and spend their spell points and time mending, healing and ressurecting folks, or they can be a combat healer.  I've seen some amazingly aggressive combat healers that even sword knights would think twice about approaching.
Above all, nothing is more helpful than a healer who can bring back the team's "heavy" after they are dead-out.
It makes me feel good to play healer, and I feel like I really contribute to a team when I do.

Myself, I like Assassin. Part of it is nostalgia; assassin was the

wonderful jack-of-all-trades class, because you get shields,
projectiles, arrows, armor, and some neat abilities (poison weapon and
teleport).

I like assassin, it's diverse and fun to play w/out armor or a bow, the abilities are nice and gives you more of a forced strategy I guess, with armor you just go in there and pound people, assassin requires you to be sneaky and pick the right approach, ie let's leg the warrior with the full plate (but exposed shin) with a poison weapon, and then get outta dodge & wait for him to die, or teleport in with a poison weapon and maybe a stone skin enchantment, etc.. it's fun to play.

I don't know if I have a favorite, I'd say Bard, Assassin, Scout & Anti Paladin are in my top choices, they all have their own appeal/style, advantages and disadvantages.

Personally, I like the Scout. He's kinda like an assassin only better. He still gets throwing weapons, bows, and all that like an assassin, but I think his special abilities are more useful. Earthbind, camouflage, and tracking are great. He still gets some of the upgraded arrows that an archer gets but he also has some of the better parts of the more sword oriented classes.

Greetings Mortals and Undead of the Realm (quit yer sniveling R.A.N.,
those of us Undead actually deserve greater station than those of you
with a heart-beat):

This weekend We were pleased to be able to attend the Coronation of
Duchess Dame Cutari Roskara, and her Regent River Blackhand in the
Iron Mountains Duchy. Attendance was good despite the rainy weather,
We understand that you mortals dislike the chill and wet, and that
you can even die if exposed to it for too long, but We would never
have guessed it from the numbers of you who were present on Saturday.

Our thanks goes out to Baroness Serpentara and Squire Zumat for
making sure that the Castle was in place for battlegames, We enjoyed
Ourselves despite the lack of zombies, skeletons or ghosts.
Additional thanks must be given to Squires Jazzel and Kezgar who
cooked a feast so delicious that even those of us who can not enjoy
food and drink were impressed. We never would have imagined Our
Death Knights enjoying Kabobs.

Lastly, but far from least, congratulations are in order for Squire
Kezgar. It was Our distinct honor to award him his 9th Order of the
Warrior for his superb performance in the combined IMD and Imperial
Qualifications Tourney. He bested two of Our Death Knight Guards,
and the Prince Regent, not to mention the numerous other talented
fighters on the list field that day. It is a well deserved award.

We were unfortunately unable to make it out to any of Our vassal
lands this Sunday, however We would ask the entirety of the Empire to
join Us this coming Sunday, the 16th, in The Duchy of The Northern
Holdfast for the next of Our Imperial Game days.

We look forward to watching Our Death Knights cement Our hold upon
the realm. Come and stop them if you can.

Emperor Medryn Harlequin-Darkjester
Lich-King of the Iron Mountains.

I'll post them in the files on this list as well, and there will be printouts at the park for people to look at.

Scores have been uploaded to the yahoogroups files/Arts & Science section. I will also have printouts (on actual paper, even) at IMD on Saturday (where, by the way, there will be parts of the castle, food, and IMD coronation going on!).

Overall placings are as follows:

Lief - 15.65 - 1st
Medryn - 13.63 - 2nd
Cutari - 12.22 - 3rd
River - 6.80 - 4th
Jazzel - 5.67 - 5th
Molly - 3.37 - 6th
Falcwine - 2.13 - 7th
Jetara - 1.40 - 8th
Kota - 1.35 - 9th
Shaylyn - 1.07 - 10th

Best in Show - Jazzel - Court Garb - Purple 18th Century - 4.55

Congrats to Sir Lief for winning the A&S portion of Quals, and to Jazzel for her best in show!

I'd like to thank the judges for their time and efforts (though the food and beverage entries were awesome enough that I doubt thanks are necessary...)

Also a huge thank you to Serpentara, who ruled the park with an iron fist and kept the fighters out of the judging area, and to Cullum for being the first person to have the common sense to put us in a cage.

Thanks!

Tal

Do you belong to yahoogroups by any chance because the results are in there in the iron mountains list under the files section.  But I think Lief won it and Jazzel got best in show with her dress.

Just a friendly reminder that all dues expire at the beginning of the
reign. With a few exceptions, everyone needs to get money to me if
you wish to vote in the Althings and elections to come!

It's a small investment in the future of this great Duchy we all love
so much.

Or, it's a small investment in your ability to continue to make your
opinions law and force it down their throats.

Whichever gets you excited about paying me money is ok with me. =)

Also, thanks to ten thousand million other things I've had to do I've
fallen a couple of weeks behind in getting attendance updated in the
ORK. I sucketh mucheth and will be correcting that sometime between
now and tomorrow evening. In fact, I'm going to stay in while
everyone is out having fun watching fireworks tomorrow and force
myself to enter credits in the ORK as punishment. So there. Or
something. Yeah.

Have fun and be safe, see everyone at coronation this weekend!

Thanks!

Greetings to all mortals and undead of the realms--

The future promises to be a bright one, for those who are willing to
cooperate with the crown. Those who are not so willing, may find
life (or unlife) a bit more...interesting. I have endeavored to get
in touch with the Nobility of these lands, some have responded,
others have been more difficult to reach.

Let all in the Realm know that this weekend, apologies for the short
notice, there will be an imperial scheduling meeting at the IMD crown
tournament. I expect full cooperation from my vassal's and I expect
their populace to do their best to attend the festivities that will
occur on that day. Those who can not attend may send suitable
compensation and peace offerings.

Emperor Medryn
Lich-King of the Iron Mountains

/OOC

If you are park leadership I'd really appreciate it if you could make
it to the meeting. I have spoken with some of you, and have an idea
about your schedules. Lief and I have a lot planned for this reign
and we need everyone's cooperation to pull it off. If you can't make
the meeting please email me or call me so we can discuss scheduling
for the reign.

I'd also like to get as many people as possible to try and attend
other group's events, we should all try to play as an Empire, and I
plan on making that happen as much as possible this reign. My email
in box is always open, be you populace or peer I want to hear your
thoughts and concerns. Lief and I will endeavor to address those
concerns but we can only do that if we know what they are. In short,
communication, people. It's essential.

Hey the Dutchy of the Iron Mountains crown qualifications are going to be held in two weeks thats July 2nd, 2006. Sign ins will open at 11am or when I get there and will be closing at 1pm at the latest. It will be held at the park in Brighton.

Take I-76/Hwy 85 north to Brighton (when they split, stay on Hwy 85).
Take the Hwy 7 exit east.
Turn left on 10th.
The road will eventually curve around by the park (at 10th and Midland); the parking lot is on the right.

Also the week following crown quals we will be holding coronation at the park. We will be having some castle battles using parts of the IM castle. Also we will be having feast and court at the park. The park day will start up around noon so be there or miss out on all the fun. More information on the feast and price will be posted as soon as I figure it all out.

Saturday evening, 7pm at Jim and Kara's.  Come on out to play with us and celebrate him finally graduating.  He'd like all of his friends there, so please, pass this along and get folks to come party.  Bring your favorite drinks, I'll be providing soda's.  If you think of anyone I've missed, pass this along to them!

Quick note on the emergency Althing vote: You can choose to vote at the park in Brighton this Saturday, or you can email to myself and/or Takezu.  I will be printing copies of any proxies sent to me so that I will have hard copies at the park in case of questions.

Since there is only one choice on the ballot, I highly recommend that you vote and email them even if you plan on being at the park- that way if you get a flat tire or your mother-in-law breaks something your vote will still count.

On another note- guess what?  IMD is the #6 most active chapter in the last seven days according to the ORK stat report.  Yay us!

Below is the current list of eligible voters.

Able to Vote:
Falcwine
Kord
Kota
Morgan
River
Serpentara
Sir Cullum
Sir Cutari
Sir Jhonus
Sir Lief
Sir Medryn
Sir Moss
Sir Talisin

Can vote if pays dues:
Armist
Camilla
Zumat

As always, let me know if you need anything corrected.

Thanks!

Althing ballots will be available at the park on May 27th. As I am on
the ballot, someone else will be collecting and reporting Althing
votes for this election. Discussion and details at the park
(Washington Park) on May 27th.

Below is the ORK report for attendance and dues. The date range it
covers is 12/17/05 to 06/03/06. If you feel that you should have more
credits or paid dues and it isn't listed here, let me know. I'll have
this list out at the park on Saturday as well.

Note: Anyone whose dues show as expiring in June 2006 are considered
dues paid until the end of the current Duchy reign (which I believe
we decided was going to coincide with Rakis, but don't quote me on
that 'til after we all talk on Saturday!).

For those who haven't seen this before, the list format is as follows:

Name, # of attendance credits - dues expiration.

Remember that you must have 6 attendance credits to vote; there's
still time for those of you on the edge. Ballots will be available at
the park, or you can fill them out and email them to myself
(sirtal@...) or directly to Takezu (Ichiban@...).

And take a moment to notice that this means IMD has had 51 different
people attending one or more days during the last six months! Go us!!!

-On May 27th (this Saturday!) IMD will be playing at Washington Park.
There will be a Belted Circle at a nearby restaurant starting at
11am; the knights of IMD will be at the park once that meeting is
concluded. Once we are assembled, there will be an IMD meeting at the
park to discuss park changes that are being considered. (see below)

-Althing ballots will be available at the park on May 27th as well.
See next message for attendance and dues-paid info.

-June 3rd is Crown Qualifications down in Crimson Dawn, but we had
also planned to move the IMD park to Brighton on that date. If you
go out to Quals, great, but if you don't, PLEASE head up to Brighton
to help us in making our new members feel welcome and get excited
about this weird game we all play.

On May 27th we will be discussing moving the official IMD park to
Brighton for the foreseeable future, either on an every-other-week
basis (i.e., one week we play in Brighton and the next week we play
at the current park) or just on a weekly permanent basis. The vast
majority of our new members range in age from 14 to 18 and many can't
travel, so the question is whether to bring the park where the
members are. Most of those who attended on Saturday were in favor of
the plan in one form or another, so the 27th will be your chance to
get the skinny and voice your opinion. If you care about the future
of IMD and where you'll be driving to meet with us, please try to be
there or send me your thoughts at sirtal@... and I will bring
them to the meeting with me.

Thanks!
Tal

Hey all...

I know we've talked about this before and I thought it was really long
past time we set up our own list for Duchy-specific discussions,
officer announcements, and so on. Sending it out over the Kingdom
list just seems a little inappropriate, and I know there are plenty of
people out there who dislike hunting through the forums for
information. I'll be reposting some of the recent/important messages
from the forum, and then we can go from there.

Thanks all!
Tal
