To the Populace:
Unfortunately life and work has gotten in the way of the South Gate and South
Gate Anex A trips scheduled for the 7th and 8th. I would like to move them to
August 1st and 2.nd
If that is not possible we can skip this month and make sure you are first on
the list for September, but I would rather not skip a month if I really don't
have too. I will change the schedule to show the change in dates but if this is
not doable dates then I will cancel them
Thank you all and am very sorry.

This last weekend we enjoyed the hospitality and friendship of our hosts in the Principality of Olympus, as we traveled to celebrate their first Mid-Reign with them.In addition to members of the Principality parks of Olympus, Starmount and Dark Shores, we were also very pleased to meet with about 10 visitors from the currently unaffiliated Mithril Forest, as well as seeing a few folks from Mists of the Dawn. The day was a bit chilly, but with a little fighting and a bit of a fire (Thanks again, Takezu, for getting that going!) and lots of good company, we had a great time!
Unfortunately, the WeaponMaster tournament was cut a little short due to failing light and a bit of a slow start.I was, however, quite impressed with the level of chivalry, and honor, and shot-calling I saw on the field during the tournament. The fighters who participated in the tournament are to be congratulated most heartily, and I hope to see that trend continue as the Principality continues to mature and grow.
There were also several fine entries in the DragonMaster competition, although I am afraid I missed seeing a few of them as they were put away before I got a chance to look all of them over.Sir Raphael’s raffle was a big success in raising money for the coffers of the Principality as well as the individual provinces.
Court and dinner were a very welcome change, as we were able to go inside and warm up!The snow had been threatening to come down for the last hour or so of the tournament and the temperature had been steadily falling.Dinner was a fine fare of several dishes and nifty desert, with interspersed court segments and a large number of well sung bardic performances to keep us entertained throughout the evening.
My thanks to His Highness Skrag and Regent Sir Raphael, as well as Sheriff Miago of Starmount, for the fun event and warm hospitality. It was our great pleasure to see many friends at this event, and to award Baronet Nanako, Duke Dayne and Prince Skrag Roses for their valuable contributions at this year’s Rakis.
My congratulations on a very fine Mid-Reign event!
Coming up on our schedule we have NH this Sunday as the scheduled Imperial game Day.
In less than 2 weeks – CROWN QUALS!! (Sat, Nov 22nd)
Get your stuff made and your ingredients gathered and your songs polished! And get your declarations submitted to Cullum post-haste!!
Declarations are due THIS SATURDAY at 12:01 am.
Quals will be held at Sir Jetara and Dame Camillla’s house, with the tournament running at the park down the street.
Entries will be due submitted by 1:30 pm and the Fighting Tourney to start at 1:00 pm.
Salutations to all IMers and Denizens of the Emerald City (Empire)!
We’ve just returned from visiting our esteemed neighbors to the south, Dragonspine, and celebrating their Coronation/Renn Faire/Maize Maze event with them.A fabulous time was had by all, and we congratulate his Majesty Anatole and Highness Darian (Dougie!!) on their ascension, and wish them a happy and highly successful reign!
Friday eve Maize Maze games unfortunately concluded before we were able to arrive; however, after spending Saturday at Renn Faire assisting with recruiting and fighting/teaching with many hopefully future Dragonspiners, we relocated back to the Maze.Coronation Feast was excellent - very warm and filling as the night’s chill crept in.The stepping down court of Her Majesty Emer and Regent Annabellee was well-paced and engaging, and the end of a successful reign for them.King Anatole and Regent Darian kept their stepping up short and sweet, and soon after we were in the Maze hunting Wizardy body parts for the first battlegame of the evening.
For those who don’t know much about the event, the Maze is a fantastic place to play at night, and much fun was had by the players! The moon was barely more than a sliver, and it was dark!!If you ever do have the chance to go down and play with them in the Maze, I highly recommend the experience.
The first game had 5(?) teams of 10 players – one Magic user with a mix of goblins and orcs – along with one half-team (we only had 6 on our team as we gathered up stragglers to take on the others) all seeking to acquire as many Magical body parts as we could in a limited time.Quick death counts for the players kept the game moving nicely and a frame tower in the middle of the maze naturally drew the teams to it as the game drew to a close.
A brief break and the second game featured most of the players breaking into 2 teams and spending a large amount of the game hunting each other, as well as avoiding the Dragon of the Maze.Fortunately for them, the Dragon, while incredibly fierce and resistant to their weaponry, was rather slow and encumbered in the limited space of the Maze. All in all, a very fine time and I enjoyed this visit immensely. It was great to see folks I had seen as recently as our Mid-reign, and as far in the distant past as 10 or more years ago.. as well as making some new friends we shall hope to meet up with again in the future.
To catch up a little while I’m here, the week prior, we had gone down to Crimson Dawn to play a bit of Munchkin Ball and consult with the folks there in need of some assistance.Unfortunately, attendance was a bit low, but those of us who were there ran and fought and sweated most satisfactorily! We look anxiously ahead to see how the Emergency Althing and upcoming elections process will work out for them, and stand ready to assist if needed.
Coming up next weekend, I will be traveling to Olympus Principality for their Principality Mid-reign/WeaponMaster/DragonMaster event up in Starmount (Minn). At the same time, Prince Medryn will be visiting South Gate again for their baronial Mid-reign celebration on Sunday.Anyone who has the time and can make it is encouraged to do so, but otherwise no special events are planned for any of the other core parks that day, and we hope that all remains peaceful and productive on the home front while we’re away.
In 3 weeks, we are holding Imperial Crown Quals (Nov 22nd).Quals will be in North Denver (Firestone) - with A&S at Jetara’s and Camilla’s house, and fighting at the Park very nearby – and we hope to see as many of you as we can out for that day.A full announcement for that gathering will be forthcoming very soon..
Please remember that declarations are also due soon!If you’re thinking of running, make sure to send those to Imperial PM Cullum (if you haven’t already) and we hope to see some folks ready to step up and take the reins for the next term!
Enjoy the beautiful weather and we’ll see you all soon!
Take care out there, mOZz

Dropping in to give word that our annual Maize maze and Coronation will be coming up!
I will be the incoming Regent of DS, and Duke Anatole will be the incoming Monarch.
It will also be the same weekend of our renn faire. heres the info!
when: Oct 31st, and Nov 1st will be the maize maze , coronation and feast on the 1st. Battle games and such will be at night! (its awesome!) when again: Nov 1st and 2nd will be the las cruces Renn faire w/Demos, and fighting all day, and returning to the maze in the evening to fight some more! I don't have all the times figured out yet but i will post ASAP!
Maize Maze will be $10.00 this is NOT a camping event, so hotel/crash space will need to be arranged.
I wish to thank all the folks who came out this weekend to IMD and NH for Castle Battles! We had a good turnout this weekend in both parks and were able to run several battlegames and militia battles.
In IMD, the flying monkeys and their forces were sadly very successful in overwhelming the castle defenders.Several attacks were carried out, and the Monkeys with their attackers could not be held off. Afterward militia Meat Grinder using the castle towers, and then Ring the Bell kept folks fighting with intensity and enthusiasm. We were very pleased to have some of the Darkmoon forces (I believe we had 8 DM’ers) come up to join in for the Castle-mania on Saturday!Several new folks also joined us for fun and fighting in IMD; hopefully we’ll see some of them return to visit us in the future!
NH hosted the second day of castle battles this weekend. No monkeys (flying, at least=) were in evidence, and the castle defense games lasted a bit longer, with the defenders managing to turn the attackers away the last couple of engagements.Meat Grinder, militia-style, was again run for several rounds, after which, castle tear-down and ditching was the order of the hour.Several IMD’ers came up for the day, and we were again also joined by a few folks new to our game.
Finally, I wanted to additionally thank everyone who helped with castle set-up and tear down/loading, and especially to Hannibal, Kota and Prince Medryn who helped castle-wrangle on both days!
Next week we’ll be in Crimson Dawn for Follow the Yellow Brick Road, and possibly a set of Munchkin Ball.We hope to see a lot of you at the game day, and look forward to coming down again!
The following weekend (Oct 31 – Nov 2) is Dragonspine Kingdom coronation/Maize Maze/Renn Faire.Come one and all to visit Las Cruces, and Dougie’s coronation as Regent of DS!
Cheers!

Yeah, I'm a dunce today aparently. Sorry about this folks. I just compared the newest corpora test to rev 29, and there isn't any discrepancies. So we're good to go. Sorry about the mistake, folks.

It's that time again. I need all provicial GMRs to contact me so that I can send out the next round or reeve and corpora tests. I kept hoping for the release of the 7.3 rulebook before now, but it hasn't happened yet, so this test will be based upon 7.2 still. And along the same lines, since revision 29 (that would include the latest althing results) of the corpora is still being worked on, this new corpora test is based upon the old 28th revision. When both the 7.3 rules and the 29th revision are released, I'll do a whole 'nother set.
However, for now, please all GMRs contact me either by email (casca0604 at gmail dot com) or by phone (813 area code 210 2062) to get sent these new tests.
Additionally, Darkmooners, is Krell still GMR? If so, could someone contact me with his (or whomever is your new GMR's) snail mail address so I can get your park's new tests in the mail to you soon.
Thank you, Casca
P.S. Does anyone know if South Gate has a yahoo group so I can post this there as well?
This weekend we are having Castle battles in both IMD (on Saturday) and NH (on Sunday). We look forward to seeing as many of you who can make it out to play!!
(See park directions in the Parks section if you need to know how to get there..)
Flying Monkees are attacking, and we need defenders!! (and attackers…)
These days will both be unlimited Monsters allowed per side, BUT you must abide by the following:
- You MUST have appropriate Monster garb. - No monsters over 3:1 ratio. - You are still limited to total of 2 monster credits per month. - Flying Monkees are especially encouraged, and are equivalent to Gargoyles (minus the Stoneskins), but count as only 1:1 ratio monsters.
Please come to the parks ~ an hour early (noon!) if you can, to help setup the castle pieces. We will have 2 towers and walls to set up.
** Next weekend we will be visiting CD for a round of Follow the Yellow Brick Road!
** The following weekend – Halloween weekend – we will be going down to visit [b]Dragonspine for Darian Redwolf’s (Dougie!!) coronation as the next Regent of DS!!
They'll have Maize Maze (and fabulous night fighting atmosphere!), Renn Faire and, of course, DS Coronation celebration.
Please see posts in the forum and on the IM list for details.
Hope to see you all soon!!
Cheers! -mOZz

A total of 25 votes were received; 21 votes were deemed eligible, 4 votes were disqualified.
One voter was disqualified by the park PM prior to the deadline due to not meeting attendance requirements; three were disqualified as they were not reported to be voter eligible by their PMs.
This last weekend was the Imperial Dragon Master Arts and Sciences competition. Thank you to those of you who came out to support the day!
Hannibal, who has recently relocated from Dragonspine’s western contingent of Wavehaven, came down from his new home up in NH, and the event was also attended by Azrael, Lothara, Leon/Cube, Sanji, Kota, Freak (Braedan), Talisin, Valorn, and 3 new folks (Chris and his 2 young sons, who live nearby) who stopped to say hello and learn about and play with us.
We had a slow start on the A&S competition, and too few judges to run the competition effectively, so I wish to extend my most profuse apologies and deepest appreciation to both Hannibal and Talisin, who were willing to withdraw their entries, and selflessly judged in support of the event instead. Thanks also to Lothara for first-time judging, allowing us to have 4 (along with myself) total judges.. not the optimal 5 (or more), but at least enough from which to draw a reasonable average of scoring.
There were a total of 31 Entries: Azrael : 24 Kota : 1 Rewth : 1 Valorn : 5
Item Scores will be the simple average of the 4 judge’s scores, and will be announced/handed-out at Mid-reign court on Saturday.
I hope to see as many of you this coming weekend for Mid-reign as are able to join us in the Barony of South Gate, Trinidad!!
Cheers! mOZz

Iron Mountains Summer 2008 Althing Ballot

This ballot must be returned to Talisin by September 14th at 11:59pm. It will not be accepted without your name and province on the lines above. You may email your ballot to sirtal@.... You must be voting eligible to vote. Speak with your local Prime Minister regarding eligibility.

Proposal #1: Rakis day trip fee
Add the following section to the Corpora:
3.G. Day trippers who are only attending the last day of Rakis may not be charged the full price of the event. They will be charged $10 per person for a day tripping fee.
Rationale: Make the fee for the last day of Rakis $10 per person, there are many, many day trippers who can only go the last day, but paying the whole fee is outragous.
Proposal #2: Imperial Treasury Disbursement
Place the following section into the Corpora and re-number subsequent sections accordingly:
4. Disbursement of Imperial Excess 4.A. Since much of the life of the Empire will go on at the provincial level and since money sitting in the bank doesn't really do us any good; the Empire will periodically disburse excess monies back to the provinces.
4.B. At the beginning of each Imperial reign, if there is any money in the treasury above $5000, the Empire will distribute it to the core provinces. 4.B.a. The one exception to this is the Empire may keep an additional amount in the treasury in order to maintain a minimum balance in the Imperial Bank Account (this amount is in addition to the amount given in section 4.B.) This money may never be spent and must be kept just to maintain the minimum balance. If this ever becomes unnecessary (changing to a bank without a minimum balance) this money must be dispersed to the subgroups as outlined in 4.C at the next scheduled disbursement.
4.B.b. The Imperial Prime Minister is responsible for disbursing excess funds to the provinces. 4.C. Each core province will receive shares of the excess based on size. Duchies will receive three shares, baronies two shares and shires one share.
4.D. If the Imperial Prime Minister is unable to reach a province to give them their disbursement by the end of the Imperial Reign, the money shall be returned to the Imperial Treasury. The Imperial Prime Minister must make a reasonable attempt to get in contact with the province, as determined by the Emperor, for the funds to be returned to the Imperial Treasury.
Rationale: First it is degrading to have to go begging to get some money to have a feast for your group, second some of us are poor, if a group has an account with say $750 or more in it, why don't they refuse the money.
Proposal #3: Remove Scribe
Remove the following section and re-number sections accordingly: 10.A. Scribe 10.A.a. Shall be appointed by the monarch as necessary. 10.A.b. The scribe shall be responsible for producing the newsletter during his or her term.
10.A.c. If the scribe leaves office for any reason the monarch may appoint a new one. 10.A.d. The scribe shall keep and post minutes from all althings. 10.A.e. At the end of the reign the scribe shall be responsible for updating the corpora and the rules clarification document (see 12.A). He or she shall pass this on to the new scribe when appointed and to the Imperial PM.
Rationale: A scribe position can be created and appointed by any monarch if they want to, but having these particular requirements in the Corpora seems pointless, as no scribe has been appointed or has performed these duties in years (if ever).
Proposal #4: Scribe Duties
Change:
12.A.a.6. When decisions are made in the Imperial Althing it is up to the Imperial Scribe to document such changes. This includes working with the Imperial PM to update the corpora if it is changed.

Judging is to commence at 1:30 pm, so all items are due entered by 1:00 pm.
I will need judges to help with Dragon Master – if you can assist, please contact me and let me know you’re available to judge.
Also, if anyone can bring out a folding table or two, and any pavilions that are available, that would be appreciated as well.
NOTE: We will be having a regular game day concurrently (ditching and battlegame goodness), NOT Weapon Master, so that the judges who are able to come and help out won’t be missing the fighting Tourney.Weapon Master will be next weekend at Mid-reign in South Gate.
We hope to see you all there this Saturday! -mOZz

The next item on the agenda was the declaration received from Zumat for the office of provincial Prime Minister. Vote of the present voter eligible members resulted in 2 votes for, 0 against, 0 abstentions. Zumat stepped up as ducal PM. Many thanks to Zumat for his donation of time and effort to the duchy!
The next item on the agenda was the discussion as to whether to move the park to Aurora or to some other alternate location. This item was tabled to allow the discussion with more members of the duchy since turn out for the althing was so low.
The last item on the agenda was regarding the issue of no declarations have been received for local monarch and regent. Due to personal obligations, there is no way that I can in continue as local monarch at this time and I stepped down. Pending Regent William's decision as to whether he will continue on as pro-tem monarch, IMD may be without leadership offices at this time until someone declares for these positions.

Perhaps there was a miscommunication on one or both ends of the conversation, but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt all things considered.

As we just got back from Dragon Blade Wars VI at the Duchy of the Desert Rose a short while ago, and are needing a shower and a good night sleep, this will be short, with a bit more complete post and mail to follow soon...
However, we would like to share with you all that again we had a great time at this event, and I'd like to ask you all to please join me in offering congratulations on 2 very special and significant elevations that occurred this weekend:
First, many hearty Congratulations to Sir Celdic Fitz Caliston, Amtgard's newest Knight of the Flame! We were pleased and honored to be able to recognize one of Desert Winds' most dedicated, influential, and ever-serving denizens at our court on Saturday evening. Huzzah!
Likewise, our sincere Congratulations to Amtgard's newest, now fully ratified and officially invested, KINGDOM of the DESERT WINDS! Long may she thrive and continue to show the rest of Amtgard what an amazing, dedicated, caring, beautiful group of people have come together to make that Dream a Reality..
And lastly I'd like to say a huge Thank You! one and all, to the folks of Desert Winds who once again showed immeasurable hospitality and friendship to us this weekend!! We love playing with you guys and look forward to seeing you soon!

This ballot must be returned to Talisin by September 14th at 11:59pm. It will not be accepted without your name and province on the lines above. You may email your ballot to sirtal@.... You must be voting eligible to vote. Speak with your local Prime Minister regarding eligibility.
For the office of Imperial Prime Minister:
____ Cullum Eyrewolf Valinor
____ abstain
Proposal #1: Rakis day trip fee
____ Yea
____ Nay
____ Abstain
Proposal #2: Imperial Treasury Disbursement
____ Yea
____ Nay
____ Abstain
Proposal #3: Remove Scribe
____ Yea
____ Nay
____ Abstain
Proposal #4: Scribe Duties
____ Yea
____ Nay
____ Abstain
Proposal #1: Rakis day trip fee
To:
12.A.a.6. When decisions are made in the Imperial Althing it is up to the Imperial Prime Minister to document such changes. This includes updating the Corpora if it is changed.
Rationale: An Imperial Scribe has not been appointed in quite some time; the Imperial PM has performed these duties historically.
Okay, Folks. It has been a month. I have received one declaration at this time for the position of the ducal prime minister, but I has yet to receive even a nibble concerning volunteers for ducal monarch and regent. If anyone has been wondering why there has not been a date set for local coronation, this is why. There is simply no one to coronate.
Look, Peeps. I'm going to be blunt. I am currently holding THREE offices in this Empire, and damn it all, it's about time someone steps up to take ducal monarch off of my hands. I have spoken with our current pm, Kord, and we have decided an althing is in order. It will be held on August 16th. That is two weeks from this coming Saturday, which seems to be the soonest day that doesn't overrun Stock or DBW and is before September. This Althing is in order to discuss and decide upon a course of action in the event that a declaration is not received before that date.
I will not be able to be out at the park this weekend. However, feel free to contact me regarding any questions you may have.
Declarations for Imperial Prime Minister are now open. Please send your declaration of your intent to run for the position of Imperial PM to me in writing or post it here: . Candidates for Imperial PM must pass a reeve and Corpora test and must be voter eligible; see your local PM for information. The new Prime Minister will step up at Imperial Midreign, September 19-21.
Submissions for the Imperial Althing are also now being accepted.
Declarations and submissions are due to me by no later than August 21.
Ballots will be distributed on August 23rd and are due to me by 11:59pm on September 14, 2008.
PMs, please update your voter eligible lists and have them to me by August 23rd. You can add people to the list after that date, but I'd like to at least have a place to start by then. Anyone whose name is NOT on the voter eligible list at the time the voting is closed will not be considered eligible to vote.
Recap:
8/21/08 - Declarations for IMPM and submissions for Imperial Althing due
8/23/08 - Ballots out / initial voter eligible lists due
9/14/08 - Ballots due to IMPM; voting closes at 11:59pm
Hey there everyone! (Cross posted from the IM Forums...)
UPDATE: We're moving the castle on Sunday, starting at 10 a.m.
IF you can help out, there'll be bagels and gatorade and water for all helpers. PLEASE come and help if you can. Contact Moss for additional details, or just show up! (Storage place, location below)
We've secured a cheaper storage location for the Castle, and are looking for a few good folks to help move it. Food/drink bribes will be included..
The current storage location is in Denver, off 6th and Wadsworth. To get there, take the One-Way Frontage Road just North of 6th Ave heading West, and pull into the Public Storage business on the right-hand side of the road. (It will be quicker than you think, so go slow until you hit the driveway so you don't go past it.)
The new location will be in North Boulder, off North Broadway. Ace Self-Storage, located on North Broadway in Boulder. Turn west on Violet Street from Broadway, and go to the end of the street.
If possible, I'd like to round up about 6-8 helpers to load and unload on Sunday.
If you can help with one location or the other, but not both, please also let me know!
We'll have a large rent-a-truck of some kind, so it should be a single trip.
Planning on starting Load at 10 am, and to be finished as soon as we can get it all packed in there (hopefully no more than a few hours plus drive time)...
Thanks in advance to the brave and mighty souls willing to help out on this! moss

Now that Rakis '08 has been wrapped up and put to bed...
..it's time for all you Future Rakis Autocrats to put together your bids to run next year's Rakis Event!
I'll be accepting bids for next Rakis from interested parties. So put your ideas down, round up your crew, and get those sent in to me by Imperial Mid-reign, please.
--Send all bids to [mossferatu at juno dot com]--
The most promising one will be chosen from those submitted.
Remember these helpful tips when putting your bid together:
- The more you can plan for ahead of time, the better off you'll be.Remember not only those Big jobs, like Gate-o-crat, War-o-crat, RP Tavern-o-crat, but the little ones that make the whole event fly like getting folks to commit to help set up and take down the castle *ahead of time*, trash crew volunteers, lining up walkie-talkies, etc, etc..
- A good crew can make any event easy.. and a poor one can kill the best planned event no matter what you do.Choose wisely, and make sure you have potential backup personnel for stuff.
- Know your terrain - EVEN if you've already been there before, it will probably feel like a whole different site if you're there trying to run the Event than what it feels like when you're attending the event.
- And I can't stress enough: GET AS MUCH INFO as you can from PREVIOUS Rakis autocrats and helpers as you possibly can!!They very well can be your most valuable resource as they've learned from past event problems and will help you avoid the same.
- A detailed accounting of costs for various activities and needs should be a part of your bid. This should include, at a minimum, anticipated costs for Food/Feast, War Event props, Castle Truck rental, Jugging supplies replacement/purchase, RP Tavern supplies/props, Gate supplies, and possibly port-a-potties.. and the list goes on from there.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions.
