Barbarossa saw the front running west-east instead of north-south as the Soviets
were forced to abandon the Blau hexes and refuse their left flank all the way to
Uralsk, with one and a half fronts cut off in Baku, while the Germans gobbled up
the Ukraine and the Caucasus -- reaching 18 points. However, two low odds
defenses of Baku in a row left the panzer spearheads spent and allowed the
Soviets to counterattack through Stalingrad and cut off two armies to die OOS in
winter of 1941.
Torch ended the North African theater in late 1942, but otherwise the Western
Allies had yet to arrive on the continent as of spring 1944 when the east front
was at Minsk-Kiev-Odessa, and the Axis ran out of time with vp around 21.
