London - #77 Inthi Way - Potter Residence(#1365RAJ)

It really is quite a nice house, if one can look past the leaning. Located
more or less in the middle of Inthi Way, #77 is pretty spacious, with a nice big
kitchen and three levels. At present it's still a work in progress, with the
lesser used rooms only sparsely furnished and the occasional gap in the main
living areas where a planned for piece has yet to materialize. Those areas that
have been completed, however, are homey and welcoming. In the living room on the
main floor a glass-topped coffee table is surrounded by a big comfy couch and
assorted chairs, including one well-worn one that almost-but-not-quite clashes
with the rest of the decor. The kitchen and dining area, on the same floor, are
also fully furnished. The bedrooms can be found upstairs, one obviously the
master bedroom, another containing the paraphernalia of a teenage girl, and a
third currently in use as a cross between storage and office space.

It's Tuesday evening, after both dinner and dinner dishes have been cleared
away. Cecily is in the living room, curled up on the couch with a copy of Witch
Weekly that's making her alternately snicker in amusement or snort in disbelief.
"I should write for these people. I bet I could come up with something more
believable."

Harry occupies a corner of the sofa, looking moderately studious as he reads
through a portfolio of something that appears work-related. He looks up as
Cecily speaks. "Hm? They offering advice on snagging a wizard again?"

Cora has spent a busy day or so packing. She's almost overly eager to return to
school, her previous semester having been cut short by a month's stay at St.
Mungo's. She has been keeping out of trouble as of late, and except for a very
/very/ late night on New Year's Eve/New Year's Day which for some reason
involved her returning home around 7am, and complaining of very sore feet. She
doesn't bother to do much for tonight's dinnertime meal, save show up, shove
down a plate of food, and quickly retire to her room again. Every once in a
while the sound of her labors can be heard, as something goes crashing against
the floor, or is dropped, or whatever. Packing sucks when you can't just cast a
"pack" spell.

"Oh, always." Cecily says with a roll of her eyes. "But this particular article
claims to be things Ginny and Sirius bought for Catella's nursery." She gives
the magazine another appraising look. "And where to find them, should you have
gobs of galleons to spend on hideously ugly furniture and want to give your
child nightmares for the foreseeable future."

Harry laughs, and leans over to have a look. His eyebrows lift almost
immediately. "Is that a hippogriff mobile? I can actually kind of see Sirius
going for that..."

*CRASH THUMP-THUMP-THUMP* Goes something upstairs. This is met with a torrent of
not-so-quiet angry French, and well, it's cursing. Yeah, you've probably heard
her do it enough to realize some of what it means these days. Then there's the
distinct yowling of her pet, Cat, as she's taken to calling the Ocicat. Then
things quiet back down.

Cecily eyes Harry suspiciously. "No hippog-" She doesn't finish the thought
before the crash, which causes her to wince and half-rise off the couch. "Is
everyone still in possession of all of their limbs?" she calls.

There's no immediate answer, because noise starts up again. There's a distinct
and definite sound of something big and heavy being shoved across the floor.
Then, there's a brief pause, followed by the most awful racket as Cora sends a
seemingly full trunk down the stairs. The trunk comes bouncing down the stairs
without anyone to stop it, rolling over on itself a few times, before finally
landing with a resonating thump at the bottom, slightly askew on an edge, mostly
blocking the stairwell. Or at least it will, unless someone stops it.

"Oi!" Harry protests, getting to his feet now as well. "Cora, are you alright?"

Cecily fully rises, though she doesn't dare step out to the stairs yet.
Something else might follow the trunk down. "Cora!" she echoes. "Do you need
help?" A wry look is given to the poor trunk. "A little late to make that offer,
I suppose."

From atop the stairs Cora gives a slightly surprised, "Course I'm alright,"
finally at least answering the adults. She then thuds down the stairs herself,
and moves to lift her trunk, and shove it across the space, to rest over near
the entrance way. While pushing she manages a slightly exerted, "I don't need
nobody's help," in her typical stubborn manner. The question now, is does the
shoving leave lovely scratch marks on the floor?

Harry doesn't seem to be thinking any such question. In fact, he's looking more
at the wall of the stairwell, presumably for dents. "Well, if you'd accepted
some, I think your possessions might've thanked you."

"Remind me to show you an ironing spell before you go to bed." Cecily says
drying, eyes still on the trunk as it gets shoved over to the door. "Is that
everything?"

Cora nods a bit, turning now towards both the adults, "Yeah, there will be two
more bags, one with books, and one with a couple day's worth of miscellaneous
stuff, but that's the bulk of it. I've cleared the room out good, so just have
the Ministry drop me a line as to where I am going this summer. I've got backup
plans already, just in case they are as slow with that as they are with my
working permit."

Now /this/ gets Harry's attention big time, and he sends a questioning look in
Cecily's direction. "Er... we haven't really talked about that. Have we?" This
last is directed at his wife.

Cecily's eyes go wide and she shakes her head at Harry in response to the look.
"No...but it sounds like we'd better." she says after a moment's hesitation.
"Sit down, Cora. We can grab your other bags in a little while."

Cora shifts a bit from one foot to the other, "I'd rather stand if you don't
mind," she says, with just a slight edge to her words, but then she sighs a bit,
and says, "Don't worry about it really. I haven't told anyone. Other than
Winthrop, and he won't tell a soul. It's your lives, ya know? I get it. And I
certainly don't want to be a bother anymore. Nor do I want to be a threat, I
mean, I would hate to find myself a bit too hungry some full moon." She just
stays by her trunk. Cat comes sauntering in, now that all the noise has stopped.
He leaps to the top edge of the trunk, and sits down, looking around some with
his wide yellow eyes.

"We don't think you're a bother," Harry answers gravely, "but the threat is
always there for any werewolf. We're both sorry that it means more uprooting for
you, though."

Cecily runs a hand through her hair. "You aren't a bother." she repeats
emphatically. "And I'm very sorry we didn't have this conversation sooner. We
don't want to make you feel unwanted, Cora. And we certainly weren't trying to
keep it a secret from you."

Cora gives a bit of a shrug, and says, "Whatever. It really doesn't matter. I'm
used to getting shipped around from place to place," perhaps just a touch too
glibly to come of as truly not caring. She pushing back a few of her long raven
locks from her face, then manages a tight smile, "Good luck I guess," and she
doesn't quite sound sincere in those words either, but at least she's attempting
a brave face here.

Harry's answering smile isn't his best, either. "Thanks. We're really happy
about it. Cecily's due in early July, if you'd like to visit on summer break."

"Yes, do visit." Cecily encourages, not smiling yet at all. She still looks a
bit worried as she studies Cora. "Keep in touch. I'd like to hear about how
things are going at school, with Quidditch and such."

So that's about all the alledged faking Cora thinks she can take. She glances
first at Harry, then Cecily, "You can stop pretending now. It's alright. I'm
sure we'll run into each other again at some point, but let's be real here." She
scoops up the cat, then glances back towards the stairs, "I've still got some
work to do ...so ... unless there's anything else, I'd really like to get back
to it."

The tips of Harry's ears turn red, and he's on the verge of an angry retort, but
then lets all of his air out in a heavy sigh. "Fine."

Cecily closes her eyes for a moment before nodding. "All right. Call down when
you need to move your other bags - to spare the walls, if nothing else."

Cora strokes the cat once or twice, before turning and heading back up the
stairs. Her boots thud against each step as she does so. Once on the landing
above she begins to narrate to the Cat, a slightly odd trait of hers, in French,
telling it some such story or something.

Harry remains standing where he is, watching the progress of Cora's feet as she
ascends the stairs, only speaking when they're out of sight. "Have you noticed
that the more you try in vain to convince someone that you don't dislike them,
the more you do?"

Cecily sinks back onto the couch. "I think in this case it's more exhaustion
than anything else. Every time I think I'm getting somewhere with her, a scene
like this happens."

"Yeah," Harry agrees listlessly, then returns to the couch himself. "I feel like
we've failed her, but I don't know if she would've ever let us succeed." With a
glance toward the floor he adds, "How are your feet tonight?"

Upstairs Cora continues to tidy away her life again. A few remaining textbooks
get put into her school bookbag. All that's really left are two days worth of
clothes, and her uniform. Her broom rests against the corner wall. She continues
conversing with the cat, in French. Her words are measured and pleasurable, and
once, she even grins while midstory.

Cecily brightens with the change of subject. "Is that an offer?" she teases,
stretching a leg out and wiggling her toes in Harry's direction.

Harry grins and pats his lap. "At least I'll be able to do /something/ right
tonight."
