It's Wednesday, sometime between the end of lunch but before the beginning of
afternoon classes. There's a chunk of time where students can just, get ready
for the second group of classes for the day. Cora had found Jeoffrey in the
Great Hall, and asked him, quietly, to meet her here immediately afterwards, and
do take precautions that he not be followed. She's here already, gazing out one
of the dim, dingy windows, partially hidden by the curtain shadows there.
Jeoffrey took a long, winding way through the Castle, ending up back here after
a long moment. Using his badge and a few looming glances ensured that people
didn't follow him too much. He then slips into the room quietly.
Cora turns slightly when she hears footsteps, but doesn't move from where she
is. Whatever is going on, she looks extremely serious and focused, and she
beckons you closer with a hand, but she doesn't elect to speak yet.
Jeoffrey walks closer, moving to stand behind you. He lifts a hand to rest upon
your shoulder, and says quietly, "You all right?"
Cora frowns a bit, and shakes her head some, "Do you know any Imperturbable
charms?" she asks, "We haven't learned them yet." Cora adds, "Anything that
would help ... prevent someone from hearing what I'm going to be telling you?"
Jeoffrey frowns and shakes his head. "No...we won't get into that until Spring,
I don't think. What's going on?"
Cora absorbs the news silently. She glances around some, unsure, and clearly
distraught about something. She takes a deep breath and asks, "How ... reliable,
do you think Richard Jepson is?" She pauses. "For information," she clarifies,
"Would you believe things he tells you?"
Jeoffrey scowls and shakes his head, "Not on a bet, I wouldn't, no. He's a
smarmy little bastard, and fits in quite perfectly in Slytherin." He pauses and
says, "I know how you got the concussion, by the way."
Cora tilts her head some and asks, "How? No one's ever really told me. I just
... woke up with Pomfrey glaring down at me."
Jeoffrey frowns, "Well, I know /basically/ what happened. I don't know
everything that led up to the actual event, but I do know that Sender did it to
you. Not sure if he used a Banishing Charm, or what exactly."
Cora is visibly surprised at that news. "No wonder he's not been speaking to
me," she half-comments more to herself than to you really. "All of you prefects
are going to drive me completely mad. I swear it."
Jeoffrey squeezes your shoulder and says, "You know you enjoy it sometimes." He
pauses, "So. What were you going to tell me?"
Cora glances to you for a long moment, her dark eyes studying you carefully. She
bites on her lower lip some, then eventually says, "Just ... watch your back.
There are some people around here who are.. " she hesitates, and shakes her head
some, "Watch mine for me too, would you?" Like she needs to ask that.
Jeoffrey raises an eyebrow and frowns, "What's wrong, Cora?" He turns you to
face him, a hand on your shoulder, the other going to cup your cheek. He
obviously looks worried.
Worry is just one of the emotions on her young face, but it is the primary one.
There is also something there, not many have seen. Her dark eyes can't hide the
fear in them. She takes a deep breath, and says, "I won't let them take you too.
I promise you that," she says, vaguely still, "But we have to make sure to get
to Snape's office for the full moons. All of them. We need to change how we do
this Jeoffrey. People will figure it out. I .. I don't know if I can stop them
if they figure this out."
Jeoffrey frowns more intently, his hand resting against your dark skin, "What on
earth are you talking about, Cora? Who's going to take us?"
Cora blurts out, "I don't know. He won't tell me, and I can't even tell if he's
telling the truth, and /that/ is the most horrible thing. It could just all be a
dog and pony act."
Jeoffrey rolls his eyes, "He's just trying to get at you, Cora, just like he did
me when we were in the locker room. He's a total twit, and should be pretty
heavily pummeled, if you ask me." He sighs, and moves to hug you close, "I'm not
going to let anything happen to you, Cora."
Cora is easily pulled into the hug. She desperately needs it resting her body
against your form. "I'm scared of him," she finally admits softly, "He wants
something. I can't tell what it is but I don't ... I don't like the way he just
things he's entitled to ... everything, and everyone."
Jeoffrey sighs and hugs you close, "He's Slytherin, Cora. They're like that.
He's probably jealous that /he's/ not a werewolf."
Very, very quietly, she also tells you, "He kissed me the other day," clearly,
this has also bothered her, "I don't want him doing that again. You're the only
one who gets to kiss me without at least asking first." She pauses then, waiting
to see how you'll take that.
Jeoffrey blinks. "He kissed you? Why?" He tightens his grip on you faintly,
staring down at you.
Cora seems to still be distraught. She speaking more to your chest than your
face, but her tone indicates her puzzlement, "I don't /know/," she insists, like
she's almost trying to convince herself, "He just goes around and claims he
knows all these things that people are planning to do to me, and then he thinks
I'd kiss him back to get the information! I wouldn't!" she insists.
Jeoffrey strokes your hair quietly and says, "He's definitely jealous." He runs
his fingers through your hair and leans down to whisper, simply, "/Mine/." He
then hugs you again. After a moment, he sighs and says, "Granted....don't know
what's going to happen in the future."
Your whisper brings a smile to her face, and a little bit of color to her
cheeks. Apparently, she likes that label. "I have been for the longest time,"
she says so quietly back, "It just took you forever to see that." Then she
shrugs a bit about the future, "I don't know either, but it'd be a lot easier if
people stopped trying to tell me in advance. I can deal with it as it comes, but
anticipation of things that may or may not come to fruition... that just ...
sucks."
Jeoffrey nods and just hugs you close, stroking your hair quietly. "Whatever it
is, just let me know. I'm here for you, Cora." As far as the rest of it goes, he
makes no comment, his own cheeks pinkening a bit.
Cora seems content now to just hug back in silence, enjoying the closeness. She
rests her head against your chest some.
Jeoffrey says mildly, "Just kick him next time." He pauses, then says, "Oh, and
look up?"
Cora glances upwards then, dark eyes looking to you, "What?" she says, wondering
if she should look higher.
Jeoffrey moves a hand to tilt your head back, and leans down to kiss you firmly
in response.
It takes her a moment, but she responds, returning the kiss eagerly, arms moving
to wrap around your shoulders and rest against the back of your neck.
