Thanks for the feedback, but I must be slipping.  What are the " Arduin
Grimoires"?  Are they Tolkien?
Seriously I think I might be outnerded here...
Please read all the rules before you play, Some of the changes don't make sense
with the original twerps format.

Wow....

I haven't read through it with a fine-toothed comb, but this is great.

...heh, now all you have to do is add in the stuff from the Arduin Grimoires
after the Starship stuff. <chuckle>

Honestly, great work!

Consider it positive :).

Another typo for you:

"A character fires a rocket at 2 targets in a hex. He hits the target hex.
He rolls a d10 and adds it to 8 (Rockets damage value), rolling an 8 for a
total of 14.6"

i'd swear i've never seen fractional results on dice before ;).

As far as the document organization goes: i'm on page 38 or so and i haven't
seen one explanation of how to do saving throws, but they are mentioned
heavily in the first pages of the document (e.g. the racial descriptions) . i
finally saw the attacking mechanism 34. i would strongly recommend
explaining the overall mechanics before diving in to the details of racial
abilities, super powers, etc.

Ah, here it is on page 40. Seems a bit too far in to me.

Okay, obviously i knew the mechanics because i first read Twerps back in the
early 90's. But the scope of your doc opens it up to all types of new
players, and i think the overall mechanics should be described to the reader
before the details are used to describe the available races, spells,
superpowers, etc. (all of which come before the basic mechanics in the doc,
which is kind of like TSR releasing the Monster Manual before they release
the Player's and GM's Guides).

Thanks Doc.  I should point out that I have altered a lot of the original
mechanics, so before you offer it out to new players as a guidebook, be sure you
like the changes I've made.

Wow, what a great effort!  While I did not go through the document with a
fine-toothed comb, I think that this would be a great TWERPS bible to print out
and give to players as a complete character creation sourcebook.  I wouldn't
mind seeing more.

i like it!

i have one suggestion:

Page 10, Revenant:

"... may ride from the dead at the cost of 1 ST permanently (returns at the
end of the adventure).. ."

i had to read that 3 times before i understood that the _character_, and not
the ST point, returns at the end of the adventure (which would contradict
the "permanent" wording).

i would recommend re-ordering that:

"... may ride from the dead (returning to play at the end of the
adventure) at the cost of 1 ST permanently. .."

Thank you, but to be honest that is less than 1/2 of what I have been working
on.  Those are the basic "fantasy" rules.  I have been working on all the
genres...
If this gets a possitive response the others will follow.

       hi all,

I am sorry for seeming like a tease, I will be reposting TAWH soon, but having
been made aware of several typos, I decided to polish this offering one more
time, and add a few more features before I repost.  It will be up in a pdf
format, probably by the end of the week.  My inhouse playtesters are trying to
"break" it for me, to see if I have missed anything...

I beg your indulgence for a day or so longer....

forgive my vanity.

Actually, though it has significant penetration, "Most People" don't

have MS Word...not the latest version, anyway. MS doesn't even stick to

it's own formats.

I'd say 'most accessible' actually. All now have FREE applications that

can output in those formats.

Foxit Reader is faster, and has less of a memory footprint.

(It's free too, I think)

If you're running Linux, Acrobat is available, but I'm sure their are

open source (ie free) alternatives.

If you're using Linux, you're in the choir, actually....

:)

Open Office - will open DOC files, output PDF files. It may now be

capable of opening DOCX files.

It's free, and as good as Word in my opinion.

It's "macros" - essentially, a short program that can be executed by

Word. MS programs have always had security problems - if you enable

them, you might find yourself sans a working computer.

Stick with PDFs in my opinion.

Tables, graphics - anything you want, really - can be put in a PDF file.

Download and install Open Office, open your DOC file, save as

PDF....Simple, can be read by anyone that has net access and the ability

to install programs.

Don't feel bad. The first thing I ever posted to a game list was for a game -
Risus - run by S. John Ross. The e-mail he sent me almost melted my monitor. It
took me about a week to work up the nerve to e-mail him back. When I did, he
kindly explained about formats (I was totally clueless).

The best formats are, in no particular order, Text, Rich Text (RTF), and PDF.

I like PDF the best, especially if your item contains pictures, charts, tables
or maps. Everybody seems to be able to open them and they maintain their
formatting. Also an Adobe Reader can be downloaded for free if you can't read
PDFs.

There are several free or share-ware PDF makers available, but you best ask
somebody else for advice about them.

RTF is another good choice, but sometimes charts and tables lose their
formatting. Pictures sometimes cause trouble too. This is best for text only.

Text, in my experience, almost always loses its formatting when somebody else
opens it. Everything runs together making it hard to read. It is best for short
non-formatted, text only items.

.doc is another format, but, in my experience is not used much by gamers.
Somebody once told me not to use it because it"contains dangerous micros". I
don't know what these are, but they don't sound good, so I don't use this
format.

Cheers,

Dale

Hi all,
I introduced TAWH today for the first time to an audeance which had never even
heard of TWERPS.
It is safe to say that the game was a huge success. Characters included: Two
Battle Mages, one Gnome Holyman, one Elf Ranger, one Panther-Woman Beastmistress
who happens to ride a Unicorn, and a fleet footed human thief.
The players filled a full demographic, from 12 to 45, males and female, first
time and veteran players... I was able to get a lot of feedback, all good.
So now if I can get some reviews from long time TWERPS fans...

Open office or NeoOffice can open it. Also the TextEdit on a mac can open it.

Open office and NeoOffice are both open source... There's also a plugin for
older versions of word that will let you open a docx.

I think this is the link: http://www.microsof t.com/downloads/ details.aspx?
FamilyId= 941b3470- 3ae9-4aee- 8f43-c6bb74cd146 6&displaylang= en

The file opens in Text Edit, and NeoOffice. Formatting may have gone a bit
wacky, but otherwise, looks good.

Hi guys!

For the past year or so I have been compiling and editing material for
T.W.E.R.P.S. A.R.C.A.N.U. M..

I have just posted the first collection Wandering Heroes. Some will recognise
this title from an earlier posting. This is NOT the same!

I have reworked and edited the rules to allow for even smoother play.

If you feel I have borrowed a previous submission, please take it as a nod to
your own cleverness.

Please check out T.W.E.R.P.S. A.R.C.A.N.U. M. Wandering Heroes, and tell me what

I think it must have been written using Word 2007?  That usually defaults as a
DOCX format.  I couldn't read it either, and usually it's something saved using
2007 Word.

M. Wandering Heroes, and tell me what
you think.

Norm:

I am unable to open this file. In fact my computer does not even recognize the
format it is in.

It is best to use common formats, such as  RTF or PDF since most (all?)
computers can open them.

Rather hard to read a file you can not open. :)

Cheers,

Dale
