like a sin city theme, female hero, she tries to defeats the villlians
of the city like mob bosses, she usually gets caught, tortures, and
left for died. But because she's part demon cat(part vampire part cat),
like "cat woman",possessioned by her pet cat, after a "blood rush" she
gets her power and kills the bad guy. Powers are very flexible,
balance, quick, many lives, able to heal quickly. Not always "good".
Having things to toss around is fine if your
heroes have the financial backing of a gazillionaire who pays to replace all those
“footballs”. I think we had this discussion before but l believe if
the heroes “cut loose” then they have to be held accountable.
Picking up the tanker of volatile chemicals and chucking it at the bad guy sure
looks cool but when it explodes, you’ve just destroyed someone’s livelihood
or cost some company a lot of money, either the owner’s or the insurance
company that covered the truck. The lost of the goods will impact the bottom
line of the shipper and the receiver and both companies could face bankruptcy
because of it.
I run a campaign where these things bear
consideration. My group is mature (over 110 years combined Champions playing
experience) so they tend to be more cerebral in there approach to problems
because of the consequences. So when you are planning the location of the big
battle, it is just as important to leave things lying around that can be used
to overcome the villain without creating an economic catastrophe for people not
involved in the conflict.

When Running any sort of super hero game. It is always
a good idea
to for the game master to try and place fights in a dramatic setting.
After all for heroes who can pick up trucks and toss them like foot
balls. It helps if there are some big heavy objects to toss around.
Here are a few idea's that recently came to mind.
1) A busy section of highway with an over pass. Just in front of the
over pass on the main highway is our villian a big nasty brick who is
very tough as well. He is here for either random destruction or to
rob an armoured car that will be driving by any second. Also on the
road are numerous cars vans and other ordinary vechiles. But there
is also a gasoline tanker that is full and has shitty brakes.
Perhaps a school bus loaded with kids on a field trip. A couple of
bikers who may try to do a snatch and run with any loot that might be
near by.
2) A busy airport with lots of luggage vechiles and planes of all
differant sizes plus a few refueling trucks. Our villian is a flying
brick or team of super villians. The goal of the bad guys is to
steal
a) a new experimental plane that has just landed. b) a shipment of
fine art on loan from a european gallery to a local one. c) to rescue
a prisoner from the police.
3)A steel mill see the 2nd terminator movie for ideas. Hot steel
will kill normals and hurt even fairly tough heroes. Mechanon???

Have fun withh all your games Ferret!!
Well my favourite tv super soap opera is set to return to the airwaves
this monday night on NBC. After the two hour premire there will be a
1 hour special a sort of meet the cast kind of thing.
Knight Rider returns to TV as well this wed. Plus Smallville has
already restarted for I think it's last season. Then Terminator the
Sahra Conners chronicle is also back. I saw ad's for Flash Gordon but
it just looks silly. Anyway enjoy your favourite shows this TV season
no matter what they are.

Leslie and I saw the Incredible Hulk just last week. I enjoyed it alot
more then the first one. This movie was much better scripted and more
entertaining. Ulitmately the Hulk needs to smash stuff! Boy lots of
things get trashed in this film. There are hints and clues to a
possible third film. Plus Lou from the TV series makes a nice Cameo
appearance. So over all I rate it 3 stars out of five. There are some
neat idea's to steal for your super hero games as well.
Have fun!

Spider-Man director Sam Raimi told reporters that he's waiting on a script for a fourth installment from writer James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Rundown) before deciding whether to helm it, though he'd like to.
"Right now James Vanderbilt is writing the script, and he's working on it, and I'm excited to read it," Raimi said in a group interview in Century City, Calif., on June 5. "I think it's going to be done in a few months. I'm hoping it's as great as our discussions were about it and hoping it feels right for me, because I love Spider-Man, and I'm hoping I'm well-enough rested to, like, really embrace it and hoping that Sony wants me at that time to direct it. So if all those things come together, I would love, love to do it. But this is a lot of unknowns about the future."
Asked whether he'd recast the roles of Peter Parker or Mary Jane Watson--who have each moved on to other projects--Raimi demurred. "Well, I hate to recast anybody in the picture," he said. "I
couldn't imagine that. It's like the new Darren [who was recast during the run of the 1960s TV series Bewitched]. Whenever that happened. So I don't know. I can't imagine that."
Raimi also offered a brief update on other projects, including a proposed remake of his Evil Dead films. "We never actually pursued it," Raimi said of his Ghost House Pictures partners. "We said we were going to do it, and then we got so busy with other projects we never actually pursued it. So we still want to do it. We still think it's worth trying, and ... I've not done a single thing about it."
As for a feature-film sequel to the vampire movie 30 Days of Night, which Ghost House produced, Raimi said none was in the works. But he praised FEARnet's upcoming Web miniseries 30 Days of Night: Dust to Dust, which features his brother, Ted Raimi.
"It looks really good, and I don't know when FEARnet is releasing it, who their financiers [are], but ... I highly recommend it. It's a blast," Sam Raimi said. --Patrick Lee, News Editor
Thanks for the information Ron. It gives me something to look out for.
It is amusing that they had not said which characters will be used.
Ha. I know which ones. Nightwing, Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven and
Cyborg. Now for the bad guys I am betting on Slade, the Terminator
(later Deathstroke). He's the best baddie for anything Teen Titans.
These ones are the main characters since the re-grouping of them in
the 80s and are the ones in the cartoon so I assume I am safe to say
it is them. I mean, who else would they use? Wonder Girl, Aqua Lad
and Speedy or Kid Flash?
Yeh call me a geek.

I saw Batman 2 the Dark Knight this past saturday it was extremely good.
Lots of great evil gaming idea's for a darker more vigilante style of
game. I give the film 4.5 stars out of five. I think the director
needs to improve the filming of fight scences. Plus Joker make up
could have been better. But honestly I'm just nitt picking at the
film. People will need to decide for themselves what version of the
Joker they like better Health's or Jack's. I still don't know because
they are very differant characters; In very differant films. Action
scences are exciting and there are a few funny lines in the film.
There are a few minor twists in the film as well. It is making a stack
of money all so. So grab your bat bank and head to your local
multiplex and see the latest Bat film. Enjoy I certainly did.
Saw the trailer for Watchmen which is on the web now as well take a
look. It is worth the time!
I saw Hancock it was ok only 2.5 stars if that. Fans of Will Smith and
comic books only.

Marvel Publishing joins forces this fall with horrormeister Stephen King to transform The Stand into a series of comics through a licensing agreement with the Doubleday Broadway Publishing Group.
The Stand presents a post-apocalyptic world in which a band of unlikely heroes must come together to fight one of the most memorable villains in any genre: Randall Flagg.
The series will be adapted by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Mike Perkins will illustrate the series.
"There's nothing more interesting--and more fun--than seeing an old work take on new life in a new medium," King said in a statement. "I've enjoyed working with Marvel on the Gunslinger series and am excited about this collaboration regarding The Stand, which will bring Stu Redman, Frannie Goldsmith, Lloyd Henreid and Randall Flagg to a new audience."
The comics will be presented as a limited series based on The Stand: The Complete & Uncut Edition. The comic series will be available in stores across the country, with the first installment due in September. The entire saga will be overseen by King as the creative and executive director on the comic-book series.

Rob Rogers told SCI FI Wire that his novel Devil's Cape is a superhero novel in which the world is filled with heroes, but the book focuses on a city that has none to protect it.
The setting--the fictional city of Devil's Cape, La.--is a dark, corrupt place run by crime lords, villains and thugs, Rogers said in an interview.
In the book, a group of superpowered criminals and murderers--a team of former carnival freaks called the Cirque d'Obscurite--returns to Devil's Cape after having been on the run for years.
"A team of superheroes from another part of the country comes to Devil's Cape to try to arrest the Cirque d'Obscurite, and things go really badly for the heroes," Rogers said. "That incident drives the action of the rest of the book, as three new heroes rise up to try to stop the Cirque d'Obscurite and the crime lord the freaks work for, the Robber Baron."
Rogers didn't want all the superhuman elements to come from the same source. "That kind of shared background works really well in the Wild Cards books, for example, where the differences between that world and the real world start with an alien virus," Rogers said. "But I wanted something more closely resembling the messy, disconnected backgrounds of most comic-book universes."
The three protagonists of the book are "Argonaut, who gets his powers from Greek myth; Doctor Camelot, a brilliant scientist wearing high-tech armor; and Bedlam, who has been magically cursed," Rogers said. "That's a pretty good indication of the kind of disparate backgrounds in the book."
Devil's Cape is a synthesis of all the things Rogers has loved since he was a kid, he said. "Superheroes, pirates, carnivals, fantasy, science fiction, crime stories and action," he said. "I tried to write the kind of book I like to read."
Rogers said that superhero fiction seemed like an untapped niche. "There were books out there, of course, but most were different from what I intended, either featuring licensed characters from comic books or taking a satirical tone and making fun of the genre," he said. "I wanted to play things straight, imagining what it might be like to live in a world of superheroes." --John Joseph Adams

Director Peter Segal, who is developing Billy Batson and the Legend of Shazam, told SCI FI Wire that writer John August is back working on the script in the wake of the writers' strike and that the film will go back to the original comics for its version of Captain Marvel's origin story.
"There've been several incarnations [of the origin story]," Segal
said in an interview while promoting his upcoming Get Smart film. "And there's a new incarnation about how Billy has to win the approval of the individual gods before he can gain their powers, and that's a completely different take from the original. So, once again, we're staying very faithful to the source material, and we're just continuing to work and try to make the script as good as it can be."
The movie is based on the comics, now published by DC, about a boy who is given the ability to transform into an adult superhero by uttering the magic word "Shazam!" "You have to please the
original fans, but also make it survive on its own for people who might not be familiar with the series," Segal said. "So we try to do both, and that's constantly the balancing act. But I think the underlying similarity between adapting Shazam and adapting Get Smart is you have to love the source material, you have to embrace it. You can't look at it as a fixer-upper."
Segal denied rumors that various actors, including Patrick Warburton, are under consideration for the role of Captain Marvel. (Segal's Get Smart cast member Dwayne Johnson has confirmed that he's talked with Segal about playing the villainous Black Adam character in Shazam.)
"We haven't really discussed Patrick," Segal said. "I love
him, and I'm working with him right now. Never talked about that particular role with him. There have been a lot of rumors about [Captain Marvel]--and it's fun for me to read all the rumors. Not that Patrick wouldn't be good for it, but we have not spoken." --Patrick Lee, News
Editor
I read about a new Punisher feature film. That is to come out this
Sept. The lead will be played by some guy named Ray Stevenson. Don't
know anything else about the film right now.
In other news about super hero films. Though I have yet to see it the
new Hulk film got better reviews this time. Hope to see it some time
this summer.
Well more later........
Adam Brody, who was connected to George Miller's now-stalled Justice League movie, told reporters that he'd still like to play the character of the Flash should the movie go forward, but that he has no inside knowledge about when that might be.
"I am a huge George Miller fan, and I'm a huge comic fan, so I'd still hang in," Brody said in a group interview on the set of the horror movie Jennifer's Body in Vancouver, Canada, on May 13. "But maybe I won't be. I know Ryan Reynolds was attached to The Flash for a while, and then I got the part, and then I read on the Internet, 'Oh, he's no Ryan Reynolds! He's the only Flash.' So if I don't do it, hopefully in a year or so it'll go to somebody else, and he'll get s--t for not being me, and I was the only person that could ever have conceivably been the
Flash."
Brody was one of several young Hollywood actors who were linked with Miller's superhero movie, which is now on hold.
When asked if he'd consider playing a different superhero in the proposed adaptation of the DC Comics franchise, Brody laughed. ""F--k Ant Man, man," he said. "As for other heroes? There are a lot. I'm trying to think more in terms of graphic novels off the beaten path. They're making a lot of them. But as I kid, I mean aside from The Flash, which I like, who's always been a dream, would be to be Spider-Man. I always associated the most with Peter Parker. The rest are all [cool]. I mean, I could never be Batman, obviously. So they're making a lot of awesome graphic-novel movies that maybe I could be in, but the only one that from a kid that I've always been jealous of is Spider-Man."
Brody is currently wrapping Jennifer's Body, which is slated to open in 2009. --Staci Layne

All fans of comic book super hero movies must see this film. Yes it is
that good I give it 4 stars out of 5. Yes there are a few flaws but
over all well worth it to see on the big screen. Way better acting
then most of these sorts of films. I loved it well done Marvel!!
The film brings Ironman to the present time in a great way. Since I
don't want to spoil anyones enjoyment of the film that is all I will

Over this summer here is a short list of some other super hero films.
For pulp action we have Indiana Jones (4)and the Crystal skull.
Later comes the super comedy Hancock with Will Smith playing a rouge
super hero. Plus there is the latest Batman film staring Heath Ledger
as the Joker and Christian Bale doing Batman. There is a new Hulk film
due out not sure if it is a retelling or a sequel. If I'm missing any
please let me know.
In gaming news Chaosium is doing a deluxe version of its Basic
roleplaying system which is to include it's famous Super World rules
for building super characters. The wild Card series of books was
inspired by a game run by George RR. Martin. This Basic roleplaying
book should be out very soon or even now.
The guys over at Hero System plan on doing a 6th edition of their
famous rules. Champions being the the super hero version of it's
generic hero system rules. The new version of Champions is currently
being discussed on their boards and is due out August 2009.

Ok I admitt to totally borrowing this idea from the the novel Polar
Shift by Clive Cussler with Paul Kemprecos. I will add I have yet to
finish the story which means few spoilers. In the book a crazy
scientist imagine that. Has discovered away to shift the polar
magnetic fields which of course. Will create all sorts of horrible
disasters. Up to and including the destruction of all electronic
devices. In the book when the device was first tested for some reason
giant whirl pools where created and whales became more aggresive. Of
course people tried to kill the discoverer of the secret. Plus people
tried to leave before the evil genius put his plan into action.
Our super heroes if street level focus on trying to stop the mad man.
If our heroes have powers then they can deal with sinking ships crazy
whirl pools. Attacking whales and other hints to the disasters to
come. Of course the mad man is on an Island some where out in the
ocean. He will have agents to defend his fortress and perhaps a super
villian or three as well. Well I hope you enjoy the book and get a
kick out of this idea. Ferret..........
I have been seriously considering running a pulp game after my current
Fantasy game ends. This game would be done using the gurps rule
system. As it is what my players like to play the most. I plan on
using a fair bit of horror from adventures published by Chaosium for
Call of Cthulu. Those folks really know how to set a conspiracy into
motion. Plus it is easy to add weird science and black magic when the
elder gods are involed. I'd toss in a few converted dungeons and
dragons modules for good measure. Things like B4 the Lost City buried
beneath tons of sand. The city rises forth during a sand storm. Just
lucky that our brave heroes are here to explore it. Sure need to drop
some of the fantasy monsters but hey I can just add in more Cthulu
ones. Next up I will want to take some of my super villian
organizations and modify them for a pulp game. No mutants after all
but mad doctors are literally a dime a dozen in a pulp game. Toss in
some commie spies, bootleggers, bank robbers and the giant Ape and you
got a game. See now you have some tips on how to pulp a game for the
1920's-1940's. Lastily visit the boards at hero games they have a huge
pile of tips for any pulp game. Have fun Ferret.
IESB.net reported a rumor that Warner Brothers may delay the start of George Miller's Justice League movie.
Citing an anonymous source, the site reported that the film's start date may be pushed back to as late as July.
The site reported that the studio had concerns about the cast of unknowns, as well as worries that the movie might conflict with Christopher Nolan's upcoming The Dark Knight.
The film is slated to begin shooting in Sydney.

Here are a few simple ideas for holiday adventures.
1) Your players can help Santa Claus deliver presents to all the
worlds children. This can be a cool dream senerio in which super
villians are out to stop Santa. Or it could be a mystical adventure
where literally the spirit of Christmas is being attacked and
destroyed. By villians of the spirit or dream worlds.
2) Perhaps pc's help ful fill some unusal christmas wishes. Like
helping prove Santa exists to a bunch of orphans. Plus perhaps
charities ask for help to generate donations and deliver presents.
3) DNPC needs help to cope with a stressful holiday season. She may
need to just talk perhaps though the trouble is worse. She has been
evicted and has no place to stay. Or has no funds to purchase
presents with. Or a friend of the pc's is really depressed and needs
something to cheer about.
4) Lastily there are still criminals around even during the
holidays. People stealing gifts from kids playing on a snow hill
near the mall. Nasty folk breaking and entering into homes and cars
to steal gifts. Plus various places will have special christmas
displays that can be stolen. Oh yes vile villians are still active
during the holidays.
Well that is all for this post except Happy holidays to one and all.

Dwayne Johnson, the actor formerly known as "The Rock," confirmed to SCI FI Wire that he will play the villainous Black Adam in the upcoming Shazam! movie, and not the superhero Captain Marvela choice he made at the urging of fans at Comic-Con and elsewhere.
"And talking to those fans down there, they had talked up to me about, you know, 'There's also this great character called Black Adam,'" Johnson said in an interview while promoting his upcoming SF movie Southland Tales. "I said, 'Oh, really? Tell me about it.' And they were telling me all about it. And I got some more history about Black Adam, and I just found Black Adam, just for me personally, more interesting to play. He's really a badass character. I love that."
Black Adam is a super human who is the
flipside of Captain Marvel, according to Wikipedia. "When I was doing the junket for the Game Plan, someone had asked me about Shazam! again, and I said, 'Well, to be honest with you, ... what I would like to see is for the fans to decide who they would like me to play,'" Johnson said, adding: "Considering how passionate the fans are about this, I said, 'I don't believe it's up to the studio or the director or myself.' So there's [Captain Marvel]. And there's Black Adam. And I said, 'So, you guys let me know who?' And across the board, it was all Black Adam."
Shazam!, based on the classic DC Comics series, centers on Billy Batson, a young boy who gains the ability to transform into the superhero Captain Marvel by saying the magic word 'Shazam!'
Johnson's Get Smart helmer Peter Segal will direct Shazam!, which is written by John August (Corpse Bride). Johnson said that August turned in his
most recent draft of the script on Nov. 2 in advance of an impending writers' strike. Shooting is expected to take place in late 2008, after Johnson completes his role in Disney's upcoming Witch Mountain. Patrick Lee, News Editor
A supposed
casting list was sent around to several major sites over the weekend for Warner Bros. Pictures upcoming "Justice League" feature, yet there's several minor differences amongst each.
Cinematical yesterday had "Friday Night Lights" star Scott Porter as Superman whilst Superhero Hype has "Skin" star D.J. Cotrona in the role. The same
scenario happened for Adam Brody and Anton Yelchin who're both being mentioned for The Flash.
All versions however have some commonalities. The previously mentioned Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Common as Green Lantern, and Teresa Palmer as Talia al Ghul are cited. New ones include Santiago Cabrera (Isaac on "Heroes") as Aquaman, Armie Hammer as Batman and Zoe Kazan as Iris.
CB got a response to both this list and their Scott Porter scoop already from a source who has the most reasonable explanation so far: "He's been under consideration for a role but not for anyone in particular. Everyone came in and simply read - they didn't come in to read
for Superman or Batman or whoever. And the rumor was that Miller thought he might make a good Aquaman and Superman, so he was probably short-listed for both. I don't know that he ended up getting either role though. I can't be sure, but I don't think so. If he doesn't, he was definitely a contender though. Miller is making his casting decisions this weekend, and it's very close, but I guess you'll find out next week sometime? I can't confirm any of the other names."
In any case filming may be on hold for now with the script not yet finished and the current writing strike delaying the previously rushed production.
I just finished reading Identity Crisis by Dc Comics. It was a mini
series with I believe 7 issues. I read the graphic novel though. I
loved the story and the plot line. It really brought the whole
secret Id thing to a new Level. I don't want to spoil the story so
all I will say is that it was a great read. It involes many
characters of the Dc universe. It does not try to explain how a tiny
mask like Robin wears can hide his Id. But it does explore the need
for heroes to keep secret Id's in the first place. The art is very
good as well perfect for this book. This book is a great read for
both players and super hero gamemasters. Enjoy!!!
For gamemasters they should keep in mind that in games like Champions
where having a secret is a disadvanatage. That every once in a while
someone should be snooping around looking to discover a super heroes
secrets. After all with that knowledge comes great power over our
hero. Reporters, photographers, the police and the government in
general may want to know who that masked man really is. Also
accidental discovers as the homeless person in the alley witnesses a
costume change. Or the guy going through the trash looking for
bottles or other goods. Perhaps even stealing some mail that allows
the crook to fraudulently use our heroes secret Id. For both false
credit cards and other money hustling schemes. Plus perhaps false
passports or other documents. That end up giving him or her a
criminal record or trapped on some no fly list. Because of the use
of those false documents. So keep in mind folks shred those pieces
of mail with your name and address on them. Ferret...........
David Dobkin will direct from a Craig Wright script
November 2, 2007
The DC Comics favorite "The Flash" is now being brought to the big screen by the men who brought you "Wedding Crashers" and ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money."
Go figure.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Dobkin has signed on to direct "The Flash" for Warner Bros. The superhero flick will be written by Craig Wright, creator of "Dirty Sexy Money."
The addition of Dobkin and Wright continues the revolving door on the apparently complicated DC property. David Goyer wrote a script and was attached to direct, but exited the film earlier in the year amidst creative differences with the studio. He was replaced by Shawn Levy ("Night at the Museum"), who left because of scheduling problems.
DC first
premiered The Flash back in 1940. Over the years, the ultra-speedy hero has actually been four different characters -- Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, Wally West and Bart Allen. Thus far, it's unclear which incarnation Wright and Dobkin will be tackling.
The character will also be a part of George Miller's upcoming "Justice League of America Movie," though it isn't expected that they'll be connected.
Dobkin, whose next film is the holiday comedy "Fred Claus," has also directed "Shanghai Knights" and "Clay Pigeons."
Perhaps that is the reason we have not seen a second film. Because
people had a hard time understanding the Punishers developement. They
just expected him to break into the bad guys house and start shooting.
Plus the film got a bit weird with the big Russian and the honky tonk
assissin. Perhaps this is why they have never made an Executioner
film. In a book that is basically a light action adventure read. That
you just can't take seriously. Yet most films try to take the subject
and themselves seriously. In a novel when a books adventure takes it
self seriously we the reader can say hey no way. But in a film it is
harder to do this. In the Punisher film it goes over the top almost
from the get go. Plus where are the police during all those shootings.
All of this is just to say that I agree with you.

Well I have been watching the new Bionic Woman series and so far so
good. It is not a great show but hey it is better then many other
super hero shows. I like the action and the actresses. However I wish
Jamie was the blonde and not the bad girls hair colour. The concept of
having the missions based on Hi Tech devices in the hands of mad men is
tried and true. If a bit predictable over all though.

While better than the original Punisher movie (although I like both
Dolph Lungren and Lou Gosset Jr.) the second movie left me puzzled
for the exact reasons you listed. It wasn't about JUSTICE, it was
about REVENGE. Seeking justice is an admirable quality and makes for
fine heroes. Seeking revenge is not so admirable and I found the new
punisher to be somewhat sadistic in that regard. I guess I tend to
view vengence as "Trying to out-badguy the badguys". Frank Castle
has no nobilty to him. Sure everything he was and loved was taken
from him, a necessary developement for creating a creature like the
punisher; but I was waiting for the moment when he trancends his
tragedies a becomes something greater than a exploitive murderous
psychopath. It never came so I was wondering who were the good guys
and who were the bad guys in this film.

There was something interesting about the recent Punisher movie. The
fact that our hero does not just kill the bad guys but ruins their
lives first. I'm almost done a book called Exact Revenge by Tim Green.
Our hero in the book has arrived from the son of a rock man. To being
a wealthy lawyer with a beautiful girl friend and on his way to being a
congress man. Next up prison he is framed for murder and heads to jail
for 18 years. I'm giving away nothing when I say he gets out. Gets
very very rich and pursues revenge. Now then the revenge does not
invole going out and beating up the people who framed him. No he ruins
them one at a time and it is not pretty. No details but he is not
nice. In some cases he lets them hang themselves so to speak.
I think this could make for a great street level super hero origion.
After all character goes to jail learns many new skills. Learns all
about criminals and how they operate. Next he gets out of jail
somehow. Uses his new talents to create a new fake idenity a
costume??? and goes out to destroy the people who set him up. Then he
continues his war on crime after wards. Also consider making the
character a woman just to be a little differant. Well hope this helps.

Zack Snyder, who is directing a movie based on Alan Moore's Watchmen, told SCI FI Wire that he will shoot the film with some of the techniques developed in making 300, but will also make use of real sets for the story's alternate-universe New York City.
"We've got some sets built," Snyder said in an interview at Comic-Con International in San Diego over the weekend. "We are about to break ground on the backlot [in Vancouver, Canada]. The New York City backlot. So they laid the streets."
In other scenes, Snyder will shoot on simple stages and lay in virtual backgrounds and environments, as he did with ancient Greece in 300.
"Only for, like, Mars and Antarctica," Snyder said. "Because it's Mars. ... I mean, look, there's a sequence in the movie where you have,
like, a [computer-generated] guy [Dr. Manhattan, played by Billy Crudup,] on Mars, looking at a giant glass palace that just grows out of the earth. OK, there's like something to shoot." Watchmen is slated for release on March 6, 2009. Patrick Lee, News Editor

This is a little something about Christopher Reeve. A human hero
of epic proportions.
Bishop Jonathan D. Keaton eloquently described this in his Go Make A
Life sermon: "To see Reeve in a severely incapacitated state brought
back memories of his famous acting roles as Superman and Clark Kent.
Memory told me that Reeve could leap tall buildings with a single
bound as Superman. Also, I saw Christopher Reeve as a gem of an
investigative reporter... Admittedly, Superman was make-believe... I
concluded that Christopher Reeve is Superman, right here, right
now... Reeve shows us the power, the possibilities and the results of
a fierce and persistent commitment to growth and development. With
God's help, Reeve is Superman because: 1. He survived the horse
riding accident and challenged himself physically during countless
months of painful physical therapy. 2. Because he remained committed
to his role as a loving husband and doting father 3. Because he kept
hope alive in the face of injury and paralysis that can destroy all
hope-in the face of having to depend on his wife and many others to
feed, wash, change, move and carry him to the doctor. 4. Because he
came to the conclusion that God still had something for him to do...
So, Christopher Reeve turned his focus away from his paralysis and
began figuring out how he could live afresh. Reeve decided that a lot
of people might like to hear his story. Instead of limiting the
communication of his story to letters, books and videos subject to
edit, Reeve chose the lecture circuit. That meant showing up in
public, allowing the public to gawk at his incapacity, talking about
his condition and sharing lessons learned. Thus, Christopher Reeve
has become Superman for real." Sadly of course Christopher passed
away a few years ago. Note he had a great small part in the TV
series Smallville. He also directed a movie and at least one episode
of TV. I know this likely won't help anyones super hero game. But I
think it was about time I typed something about a hero in the real
world. I invite others to pick out real people who have done
something heroic and add them to this message board.
