LA-LA- LAND RECORDS ENTERS THE SUMMER OF LOVE WITH THE ORIGINAL SCORE FOR GREEN LANTERN: FIRST FLIGHTâ„¢

Composer Robert J. Kral Recruited to Join the Green Lantern Corpsâ„¢

(Sept 28, 2009- Burbank, CA) – La-La Land Records will release the GREEN LANTERN: FIRST FLIGHTâ„¢ soundtrack on October 6, 2009.  The animated film features original score by Robert J. Kral (Batman: Gotham Knight, Superman/Doomsday).

Robert J. Kral is no stranger to writing themes for characters battling evil.  For five seasons, Kral created the score for the TV series Angel.  The Australian film and TV composer also composed the scores for the TV series The Dresden Files, Jake 2.0 and Miracles.  He earned an Annie Award for Best Music in an Animated Television Production for his work on Duck Dodgers.  The soundtracks for Batman: Gotham Knight and Superman/Doomsday, both animated films made for DVD, were recently released by La-La Land Records.

"For a composer, part of the overall challenge of writing for a new project is to somehow musically encapsulate the essence of the story and characters into sounds and themes," said Kral. 

Kral describes "Whilst Hal Jordanâ„¢ is from Earth, the large majority of this story takes place not only in space but on several planets with many different species of alien races. With this in mind, we experimented with a hint of retro sounding "Sci-Fi" synth elements in various degrees."   He continues, "For example, Hal Jordanâ„¢'s Lantern theme is comprised of a building motif that suggests a rising of strength and skill, and is finished by an additional thematic section that is clearly heroic. We knew throughout the story I'd need to draw upon these elements, according to the stages of the unfolding adventure."

GREEN LANTERN: FIRST FLIGHTâ„¢ finds Hal Jordanâ„¢ recruited to join the Green Lantern Corpsâ„¢ and placed under the supervision of respected senior Lantern Sinestroâ„¢.  The earthling soon discovers his mentor is actually the central figure in a secret conspiracy that threatens the philosophies, traditions and hierarchy of the entire Green Lantern Corpsâ„¢.

Hal must quickly hone his newfound powers and combat the treasonous Lanterns within the ranks to maintain order in the universe.
