Mark,

I tend to use the forum for most posts about the game now. It's easier to keep
track of
instead of multiple Yahoo groups.

In response to your question, yes there is new stuff coming up.

In March we will be releasing the first Thrilling Expeditions Quarterly. This
will be a book
with the look and feel of a magazine. It will cover all the game systems like
the initial
Thrilling Expeditions book but will be run about 50+ pages and retail for just
$9.00.

TEQ Vol. 1 No. 1 will have a great Gloire multi-part scenario for The Beast of
Gevaudan by
Mark Costello. There is also a short piece written by Pete on the history of the
Beast
legend.

What also may be of interest is a color tutorial on building jungle bases from
Markus
Kaufmann (Grimm on the Lead Adventures forum).

The second volume (due out in June) will have some great stuff on Gloire in the
Time of
Zorro.

Rich

Evenin' all!

Forgive my lack of etiquette, but I assume this is the place to
ask...are there any players in Los Angeles?

I have the rules, I even have some painted figs... but aside from the
one demo game I played at Historicon last year, I have yet to find
another interested party.

Anyone know of a group that plays Gloire? Or what about Strategicon
next weekend - anyone playing/demoing there?

All assistance gratefully received.

Cheers,

All,
I have been repeatedly tempted by the gorgeous Conquest FIW minis, but
have yet to find
a rules set that give same the kind of game I enjoy. My problem is that more
and more I am
gaming solo. Will Among the War Parties work solo? How do the rules play? How
many
figures per player?

There's been some discussion of this at the "Lead Adventures Forums."
I would suggest going there and doing a search for "Solomon Kane":

http://www.lead-adventure.de/

Also, I saw a roleplaying book at a local gamestore. I think the title
was something like, "The Savage Worlds of Solomon Kane." In fact, it
might even be from the Savage Worlds line of roleplaying campaign
books. You might find something like that if you Google that title.
Hope I remembered it right. It was a pretty big book, which would
have had a lot of great artwork and a lot of campaign ideas. Most of
it could be translated into the Gloire rule system.

Well, Historicon is now behind us, I hope you all had as much fun as
I did! I am almost caught back up on my sleep!

Now it is time to turn our thoughts towards FALL-IN! This year's
convention will be held in Gettysburg PA, from November 7th thru the
9th. http://www.fall-in.org Event registration is now open, and we
need your games to make the show a success! Please get your games in
sooner rather than later, as this helps us to get you the starting
time and table size that you desire, and also assists us in
advertising your events to the gamers at large. Also, please keep in
mind that to receive the waived admittance fee as a GM, your game
must be submitted in time to be included in the PEL. If your game is
not in the PEL, you will have to pay for your admittance like
everyone else.

Important dates for your reference:

GM and Exhibitor Registration: Already Open!
PEL Deadline: August 30th
PEL Published: September 13th
Attendee Registration Opens: September 13th
Exhibitor Deadline: September 19th
GM Registration for Program Deadline: September 19th
GM Registration for Addendum Deadline: October 10th
Attendee Registration Deadline: October 23rd

Once you have submitted your game via the online form, I will send
you an e-mail giving you an event number. Normally I do this the
same day that the game is submitted, except for some weekends. This
e-mail is the only way you will know that there was no problem with
your game submission. If you do not hear back from me in three days
time, please e-mail me, as I may not have received your submission.
You may contact me at events@... or

Almost all rules for miniatures that involve firing guns are written
for 28mm minis or less. As good as 54mm looks on the table,
when 2" = 5ft the ranges for rifles requires at least two 8 ft table lengths
to be realistic. It's a little easier to "fudge" ranges when the minis
are smaller. As Jim and I were discussing, 54mm in "Gloire" wouldn't
be too bad because ranges with muskets and other firearms of that
period were *considerably* shorter than with rifles. Anyway, I'm sure
that Pete and Rich will agree that using your own knowledge of the
period you can do whatever "mod" that you want to the rules that
will allow you to recreate or invent conflicts and have a good time
doing it.

Ed,

That's pretty much what I've done with my Britains, Conte, and King & Country AWI figs.  I doubled the ranges and movement and used a 4' x 4' table for some nice skirmishes.  I've run a bunch of games that way and the system works smoothly plus the players love pushing the big figs around - brings out the kid in everybody!  (And your right, an unloaded musket makes for a great club in close-in fightin'!)

Let me jump in here with a completely unbiased opinion.

Rules in the 45A/Gloire world are for 28mm minis and rules for a
transition to 54mm aren't given, but since 54mm is *about* twice
as long as 28mm it stands to reason that doubling all ranges and
movement should work fine. And since "Gloire" features a *lot* of
"hand-to-hand" as reloading a musket in a close skirmish can be
hazardous to your health, and since much of the fighting will be
done in a wooded setting, at a fort or blockhouse, or on a farm,
the ranges will be short either way, so doubling the range using
54mm figures shouldn't be a problem.

In fact, I might try using my 54mm Barszo "Roger's Rangers" set,
or my Marx "Revolutionary War" set and do just that.

I don't own any of these maps, but they seem to fit what I have planned. They
are done in
basically the same style. I would limit your choices to the obviously
Gloire-useful ones.
Then, maybe pick up some of the downloadable PDF ones and cover over areas like
"Druid
Shrine or Spooky Cave" on the forest one.

Hello all,

So, I have decided to brush off my dusty set of rules, and have a go
at playing Gloire. I even started painting up any figs I had lying
around that were vaguely applicable, but the one thing I am lacking is
terrain.

So, I understand that pre-printed maps/tiles are a viable option for
playing, but does anyone have any suggestions?

I thought the Paizo "Gamesmastery" sets looked interesting, but I have
never seen them "in the flesh" as it were.

Does anyone else use maps? All advise gratefully received.

Cheers,

The PDF version of our latest title is now available. The PDF sells for $12 and
can be purchased from our store.

http://rattrapproductions.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id\
=39

Thrilling Expeditions: Valley of the Thunder Lizard allows players to play big
game hunters in a lost valley populated with creatures from before the rise of
man, or have their pirates going ashore on an island where Neanderthals battle
Saurians, or time traveling tourists suddenly stranded in Earth’s distant
past.

This title will add dinosaurs not only to the .45 Adventure system, but to
Gloire and Fantastic Worlds. In addition, the book will provide a Big Game
Hunter archetype for each of the three game systems. This release will allow
players who may enjoy more than one of our games, the chance to get one book to
cover all three.

There are four multi-part scenarios as well as stats for over 20 different
dinosaurs and megafauna. Plus, there are rules to add new dinosaurs not covered
in this book. There are also archetypes for early man and a race of dinosaur-men
called Saurians.

The Valley of the Thunder Lizard is the first of the Thrilling Expeditions
series of supplements. These supplements will be heavy on scenarios with at
least one scenario for each game system. These scenarios should provide you with
plenty of ideas for your own games.

So grab your hunting rifle and prepare for Thrilling Expeditions!

Al,
I live west of Hartford (Canton) so we aren't near, alas. There
is a group in Rhode Island who plays a couple of different ancients
rules. Also, the Time Machine in Manchester is something of a gaming
center. Along with War Machine etc, there are active groups playing
ancients and Flames of War (World War 2). I don't know how far
Manchester would be-at least it's east of Hartford.
I just bought Gloire and some figures because the figures looked
good and the 17th century is a favorite period. Now to play it....
       Take care

I am not planning to come to NJCon.

Your second question is a conditional statement: IF Pete attends THEN
Pete will run a game. The "if" component is false (I am not attending
NJCon) but I will run a game if I attend. The "yes" is true, but
vacuously so.

I hereby order you to a semester of propositional calculus at the
institute of higher education of your choice.
