Here is a brief history of the area in regards to Zhodani Core Route.

The Zhodani are a race of humans that were transplanted from earth to
Zhdant, the Zhodani home world, by the Ancients. There they survived the
final war of the Ancients and eventually became a major race after
developing jump drive. Eventually they found the Zhodani Map Device.

Zhodani Map Device: In the Ruins of the old Ancient Site on Zhdant, the
Zhodani found a small device which could project a 3D starmap which
covered a corridor 8.000 parsecs long and 30 parsecs wide aimed coreward.
The artifact also proved to be a strong psionic focus for only the most
talented psions (less than 1/10.000) managed to have it reveal more
accurate data, such as clearer visions of ships and star constellations
somewhere the mapped route. When these visions proved to be true
reflections of reality, the device was made a state-secret overnight, to
be used only under very strictly controlled circumstances. This device
has been one of the main reasons for the Zhodani to launch their Core
Expeditions.

> Like...what's this region of Barren Worlds?

A region of space that did not naturally develop intelligent life.

> And why is the Galactic Core all red-zoned?

Radiation levels of the Galactic Core are higher than any ships shielding
can protect the crew from. It does not mean that you can't go to the
worlds in question. But it is good to have a death wish if you do.

> And how come the Zhodani Core Route seems to take such...illogical

> there somewhere that stood in their way so they had to go around them?

In reality there are many alien races on the core path. The description
and anything else about the races has been left blank for the individual
Game Master to place anything he/she chooses on the core path.

If you wish to justify a large detour of the core path as going around an
interstellar empire that the Zho's wanted to avoid, do so.

You are free to justify how and why the core path wanders as it does in
your own fashion.

There is very little information, until my project, about the core route.
The most information that I have, I don't have all of the Classic
Traveller reprints yet, is found in GURPS Traveller: Alien Races 1.

Hey, Clifford,

I had done so about a year ago and emailed the sar to Jim Vassilakos. :)
Guess Traveller GMs think alike. BTW, nice work on the Zhodani Core sectors.

Enjoy,

The basics are...

1. The delphi.sar file should be in your Galactic directory.

2. Run Galactic and then enter Starmaps.

3. Choose which Galaxy you want to update and then press I (for import),
when you are positioned over the relevant sector. (In your case Delphi).

4. A list of available Sar files should appear, type in delphi.sar.

Hope this helps.

I just uploaded this, & well it is majorly incomplete, but then I am
running from the UWP file, as I cannot find most of my Traveller stuff, so
if a kind soul wants to help me out, I would love it.

You might want to drop by my site, www.crosswinds.net/~erisr and
grab the SAR I've got of the Reavers Deep sector. I've got a lot,
almost all in fact, of the data from the Sector Book already
keyed in. I've been working on sectors neighboring RD lately, I
have Daibei and Dark Nebula too, but they aren't up on the site
yet. Planning that for next week.

Also find Jimmy Simpson's site. He has the RD data in a web
searchable format.

     Very nice, Eris.

Rude Word !!, I have been working been working on the Delphi Sector for over a
year. There is also a Delphi working group on JTAS, but they have decided to go
their own way and ignore my work.

I have named all of the planets and worked up most of the history and stars for
Subsector B. It is still not in a workable state yet though because I am mostly
working on a High Guard Battle Simulator, and at odd times looking at a Windows
based Gal. If I succeed in the latter I will ensure that it will run on Linux
as
well as I now have a copy of Kylix. I will try to write my Delphi code to be
compatible. This could be difficult as my current thinking requires the use of
Windows API calls that won't work under Linux.

Mr. Essery,

	 I apologize.

As you can see from the entry above, that also appears on my web page, I
have removed my entry of Delphi Sector from my web page.

It was never my intention to devalue your efforts and work on Delphi.
Had I known of your efforts I would have picked another sector. I shall
be more careful in the future.

I offer the following proposal to you.
	 1. You complete your work on Delphi Sector.
	 2. Send your data in some sort of text format to me.
	 3. I will enter it into Galactic and make it available on my web site.
	 4. Or I will send it to you for your web site where I can link to it.

	 Again, I apologize.

It looks to me that the JTAS Delphi project is a dead. I doubt it will come to
much. Its the problem with working with a committee, too much discussion, and
not enough writing. I thought there were some good ideas, but it kind of fell
apart.

That's OK Clifford. I was a little T'd off because the JTAS team have decided
to
work that Sector as well and aren't in the slightest interested in any of the
concepts that I have come up with.

The work that I have done to date are:

Assigned names to all of the unnamed stars.
Worked up a very small number of systems outside Sub-sector B. These can safely
be
thrown away, I have no huge interest in any of them yet, it was just some ideas
that
sprang into my mind seeing the oddball stats.
Subsector B is very well worked up with stats for most of the systems, and a
short
history of the last century or two - I haven't worked out quite how long it
would
take to set up the Pocket Empires yet.

The History of Subsector B is that it was originally populated some time ago by
some
unknown group with near humans that could exist on the mainly poor atmosphere
planets. In more recent times an expedition led by a mad computer science
professor
(Esworthy) and his Geneticist wife entered the subsector and set up a Pocket
Empire
in the east. They had at the time been fleeing Imperial control.

Later another group of humans (calling themselves the En-Ri) fleeing the
expanding
Imperium set up there own Pocket Empire in the west. When the two empires
collide a
war breaks out that lasts for three years, having rapidly become stalemated.

At this point the Imperium arrive in the subsector. They meet the En-Ri first
who
destroy the scout ships. A Light CruRon that searches for the lost scouts is
also
destroyed, but not before a ship returns to the nearest Imperium forces. The
BatRon
that reaches En-Ri space destroys two of the four En-Ri Battle Fleets, breaking
the
stalemate. The Esworthy clan, seeing the destruction caused by a single BatRon,
decides to swear allegiance to the Imperium and is given control of the
subsector by
the Imperium forces, including the defeated En-Ri.

I have a lot of the data in the Gal system already, which could be archived and
uploaded, but the High Guard Data for the two fleets and the history of the war
is
mostly stored in Excel and Word.

True, I haven't even bothered to check back on any progress in the last two
months. I wasn't convinced about some of their ideas - too many changes without
attempting to use the original stats. I will admit I have changed the original
stats slightly - what I did was to move one number from one system to a very
nearby
system, thus making more reasonable systems out of them, such as a high
population
planet with some air and water. I think there was originally a planet with 10
Billion population at TL 3 on a planet with no water or air!

I just moved the numbers around a bit to make things seem more reasonable.

The JTAS project replaced most of the stats on most of the systems completely.

The problem is that delphi sector has a problem with duplicate UWPs
(Zarushagar has the same problem). There are 17 UWPs that occur twice,
and 5 that occur 3 times. If you only consider the middle digits (exclude
port and tl) we see the following duplicate sets:
29 *100433-*
23 *525677-*
16 *331721-*
15 *100434-*
11 *527587-*
and multiple smaller patterns. 47% of the worlds in the sector are
duplicates if you ignore the port and TL; 27% are part of sets of more than
ten duplicates. This is an admitted problem with the program which did the
original data generation. What the delphi project did was run a scrambler
over the files which detected and mildly tweaked all duplicate UWPs.

ok...with regard to sector workups, i assume someone must have seen
"Anthonys maps sites" by now....as a relative newcomer to this (and
hence not privy to the heyday of my own particular bent-TNE), ive
found the place to be an ideal central reference to work from....and
by the sector source acknowledgements, it seems he draws his data

In general, the degrees of canonicity are as follows:
Spinward Marches, Solomani Rim: classic traveller stuff.
7x5 area with corners at Spinward Marches, Empty Quarter, Spica, Staihaia-yo:
based on various Genii files, or on work indirectly based on those files. To
the best of my knowledge, UWPs are accurate per Atlas of the Imperium, as are
the names of HiPop worlds. Alliegance codes should be considered suspect,
the original files were Megatraveller-era alliegances, which I converted
back to CT-era mostly by guess. Names of small worlds should be considered
dubious canon.
Gvurrdon Sector: I believe this was published in V&V.
Other sectors: usually highly non-canonical, use at your own risk. In
particular, I'd sort of recommend discarding all of the maps rimward of
the Imperium, there's some _very_ suspect data. I try to indicate my
sources in the sector data files.

For example the Canopus data is from the Core site. It seems to be based on an
early version of the Canopus sector that I did (found in Galactic), judging by
the Subsector names. Closer comparison suggests that it's the version before I
altered two subsectors so that they'd actually have something left in then in
TNE after collapsing.

I used a scan of the dot map from Cats 'n' Rats to place the systems (and the
Core version is the same or very nearly so), and they weren't the clearest. I
found about two system names in canon, which I can't remember right now, but
should be in the data somewhere. I think one had a UWP, which I also used.

Aside from that the data was made from whole cloth, using Galactic, so aside
from world placement and two system names and one UWP the only relation to
canon is that I used the official system generation method to manufacture the
UWPs.

Gvurrdon was published in GDW's Alien Module 3: Vargr.

I can't speak to Anthony's map site, or to the data in Galactic, but the
two DGP alien books - V&V and S&A - provided some dot maps for positions of
stars. I tend to want to consider those to be essentially canonical, and
any data that doesn't match positions to be questionable at best. There
was some area rimward of the Aslan, Solomani, and Hiver that was mapped
this way; also mapped were the entire Extents and the entire Hierate.
