Great minds must think alike! :)
I'm currently trying to get the setting for my Fudge-based game,
called "Lost Heroes", into a form I can put on-line. It's something I
have been "quietly" working on for a number of years, originally
planning to get someone else to publish it but (only recently) settled
on the idea of doing it myself, mostly for free. I never felt the old
FudgeList was the proper place to announce it.
The idea is very similar: modern day where PCs play the "chosen" of
the gods but it is divergent enough from your original concept. I find
it hard to summaries it currently without starting to splurg out large
pieces of concepts and ideas as in I can't "separate the wood from the
trees" being knee deep in writing this version up. I've already done
research (or rather made a stab at research) and chosen and converted
the pantheons to include: the Gaelic Tuatha De Danann and the Fomorii,
the Angelic Choirs and the Infernal Legions, the Greek Olympians and
the monsters of Typhon and the Norse Aesir and children of Loki. It's
also not about holy wars per say but focuses on choice (and also lack
of choice) of the characters, the big picture versus the small, real
heroism (as opposed to the "super" type of heroism), humanity and to a
lesser degree war but as a function of conflict and clash of
differences. (I don't know if I have achieved that rather pretentious
sounding vision, but I hope I'm close). I'll try and write up and post
a more concise summary of the setting and some notes about the system
this week or next week if anyone is interested.
I don't want to stop any fledgling Fudge projects, but I felt I'd be
doing myself a disservice if I didn't mention my own similar project
because I had hoped to get some support from the community as well in
the near-ish future. :) Certainly during my exploring of mythology
revealed the great scope of material that is available for plunder in
roleplaying, so there is room for multiple interpretations.
