A MOO I'm on uses a nice dividing line. There are PCs (obvious), NPCs, and
unPCs.

NPCs are "owned" by a player, and controlled by them somewhat exclusively,
sort of as second PCs.

unPCs are *intended* as filler, but in cases become as developed as PCs or
NPCs. Nonetheless, they remain community-owned.

If a player joins a game and takes over an existing NPC, doesn't that NPC by definition cease to be an NPC? Or, if it remains an NPC, doesn't that imply that...
