And this is your DREAM TEAM?
Look what you got: Krush and Shahade are against Goletiani, all of
them are against Hahn, illegally squeezed in Zatonskih is hiding,
Polgar is screaming.
It sounds more like girls in a Bordello are fighting over a client,
rather than an Olympic Team preparing to win a medal.
Why did we let Polgar come in the picture in the first place? Just to
ruin women chess in America and cut deals behind the scenes?
If you look at list of participants of 2002 OLYMPIAD in Bled,
Slovenia: http://www.35chessolympiad.com/show.php?
template=5700_00_000.html
you will clearly see that Zatonskih was registered for Ukraine:
453 ZATONSKIH, ANNA 17.07.1978 WGM 2421 UKR PLAYER
Now read FIDE rules
07. Regulations for the Chess Olympiad
6.3.8.2 A player who HAS RESIDED FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS in a
country of which he or she is not a citizen AFTER THE DATE ON WHICH
FIDE SHALL HAVE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF CHANGE OF FEDERATION and who
proves that he or she has applied for citizenship in that country or
intends to do so as soon as the legal requirements are fulfilled may
become a team member of a Federation after a thorough examination and
clearance of the case by the FIDE President.
New USCF rules (revised August 2003:
RESIDENCY
IF A QUESTION ARISES AS TO USCF VERSUS FIDE REQUIREMENTS, USCF's
criteria shall be used for national events and FIDE'S CRITERIA WILL
BE USED FOR INTERNATIONAL EVENTS. Before becoming eligible for USCF
invitations, non-United States citizens who have FIDE ratings or have
represented another country in a chess competition must fulfill the
following residency requirements:
2. A player who has a green card or other acceptable proof of
permanent U.S. residency must complete one continuous year (12
months) of United States residency, with a U.S. address, immediately
prior to the event in question. In addition, for FIDE team
competition (Olympiad, World Team, etc.), candidates may be required
to provide a written promise that they will apply for U.S.
citizenship as soon as legally possible.
As you can see, new USCF rules have changed residency requirements to
1 year instead of 3 (in the February 2002 version: "Complete three
continuous years (36 months) of United States residency, with a U.S.
address, immediately prior to the event in question.), yet THEY STILL
FAIL TO PROVE LeGALITTY OF Zatonskih's participation for the US Team.
(If someone needs a copy of the old rules for legal purposes – I have
it.)
Regarding the proposed tournament:
As I noticed on forwarded to me Confidential (AGAIN!!!) E-mail from
Bill Goichberg my name is on the list of 8 possible participants.
Well, nobody called or even e-mailed to me, asking my opinion. It is
one more deal, cut by Polgar and Co. This tournament is a JOKE, as I
strongly suspect that Susan already started to fill most of the score
sheets.
I would suggest her to try herself in a role of a Madam and leave
American Chess scene for good.
In this case 2004 Olympic Team will have:
Irina Krush, Rusa Goletiani, Jennifer Shahade (if they are the first
three by rating… someone please confirm) and Anna Khan.
This will be a fair solution, given the circumstances.

Anjelina

Subject: Re: nothing confidential in my email
Dear all,
I will summarize the questions I would like addressed.
1) As I already wrote, I am interested to hear from Rusa or her
representatives why they thought Venezuela should be rated.
2) According to Bill Goichberg, USCF first heard about Venezuela in
mid-February from Mr.Khodorkovsky. Why is it unfortunate that
Venezuela was rated at the last minute, Susan? Only a miracle from
God would have rated this tournament if Mr.Khodorkovsky would not
have made an effort to call USCF. USCF rated it as quickly as they
could once they heard about it in mid-February (tournament was in
September)
3) I would like to know Rusa and her representatives' position on the
idea of calling in to rate a tournament after the tournament was
played. Was Rusa going to submit this tournament to USCF if she had
lost 30 points? I also would like to go to the Marshall, lose 30
points, and tell USCF not to rate it. I would love to choose which
tournaments I could have rated, especially after I have played them.
This issue is about integrity and intentions. I would not waste your
time if it was only about rating points.
Sincerely yours,
Irina Krush
