Can't say I'm too chuffed, my results so far this season feature a poor performance in the major at Torbay, so I was hoping to go down a few points. This would have allowed me to play in the major at the East Devon Congress (which now has only 3 sections). But inexpliciably it has gone up a few points (and from B to C, so I don't think it is really comparing like with like), and now I'll have to play in the open. That's about 1.5 sections above where I feel I belong :-(

I'm not sure they are. I can imagine in grading limited leagues it will
create (a) more confusion (b) force captains to change teams mid-season
(c) lead to the odd case where a small club can no longer field a team
mid-season.
Several County Chess Associations have either proposed, or accepted that
the grade in use at the start of the season be used as the eligibility
criteria for grading limited events and competitions through-out that
season. Which seems a sensible move, but if enough counties do this why
publish a six monthly grade (although several propose to use the new
grade for board order, and the old grade for eligibility).
