The Blue Max/Canvas Eagles discussion group. Blue Max/Canvas Eagles is a fast paced multi-player World War I (1914 - 1918) aerial combat game that is played on a hex gridded game mat. Each game depicts a single dogfight in which the player controls a single aircraft, and attempts to shoot down as many enemy planes as possible without being shot down themselves. There is no limit to the number of players in a single game.
The game is played on a hex grid game mat, with the players, using a maneuver chart from which, every turn, decide which maneuver their aircraft will perform on the following move. After every player have decided their move, all the planes are moved simultaneously on the game board. Players can fire at another plane only if it is within their fire arc at a maximum distance of 3 hexes. The rules are simple with most of these rules contained within the components used during play. Referencing the rule manual is rarely necessary during game play. After playing some games, you can start use the campaign rules, which add another level of fun to the game.
Canvas Eagles/Blue Max is a fast, simple, extremely fun and highly addictive game to play.
