Spoke to Andy, and he's up for it. We'll squeeze you all in somehow, but I
warn you now, it's gonna be mostly standing room only.
Directions:
Get off at junction 12 for the M3 and make sure you get in the correct lane
on the slip road so you're heading north towards Sunbury.
Head down the M3 for 5 miles until you get to to Junction1, and come off
there.
At the roundabout, take the first left signposted towards Staines.
Go through several sets of lights, and I think it's the 4th set has a pub on
either side of the road - the Spelthorne on the left and the Black Dog on
the right. I mention this because it's a good landmark.
Go through that set, go through the next set (with a petrol station on the
right), and about a mile further along you'll come to a roundabout.
Turn right (signposted for Ashford), and keep going until you come to a
T-Junction (with more traffic lights).
Turn left into Church Road (the Hight St), and about 100 yards down on the
left hand side is a free multi-story car park to park in.
About 20 yards beyond the car park entrance is Cyberdyne, next to the HSBC
bank
Any questions, just shout.
***One last thing to keep you all on your toes - Andy thinks he's going to
get Revelations by Friday. It's been shipped out to him, and he's got
permission to sell it, so as long as it arrives in time...***

i have to say that i am not a fan of WotC and probably never will be. the
releasing of doomtown products seems to have shuned by them, especially in the
UK. how can they expect to get a growing interest in the game if they hold back
expansions and never run pre-releases or showcases? WotC seem to be placing all
their energy into games like pokemon
because they think it will sell better than doomtown, which is fair enough but
it doesnt mean they should ignore the other games aswell.

annoyed to miss the Miss Mes? is that somthing from RoS or have i just
completely managed to evade a whole topic? like i said before, i dont have much
RoS. i agree about the lower fear lvl... i like the whateleys but starting at 7
is a bit extreme. i can see the whateleys making some nice control decks, but
honestly they arent much of gunfighters
until a bit later in the game.
i built a deck which managed to beat the stupidly fast, flock combat deck (dont
worry... i wont give away its dreadful secrets :-), just by being even faster.
believe me... those were some interesting games we had. hats off to kit though -
that IS a lovely deck - in a bad way, and probably not as evil as his old one.
i played rangers at the MMS tournie... the only one there i think. i played Kit
2nd turn and someone else with a hurrendeous blackjacks deck afterwards... i did
ok after that but not enough to get into the finals. i'm not particularly
bothered about it, but this time i want to take my best deck and really see how
well i can perform.

I'm currently playing Deadlands RPG with Keith Anderson, the dude who
handles all this at Wizards. Unfortunately he's been away all last week at
GaelCon in Ireland, and doesn't land until this evening, by which time it's
all a bit too late. We spoke about it last week, but he's heard nothing from
the States about an early release, so has done nothing about it.
Communications?...we ain't got no steenking communications here...
So I'm a Revelations-free zone too I'm afraid...

It's not impossible to get hold of Revelations cards. I

You can't be sure who's going to turn up at these
tournaments and with what cards and so they should stick to
the advertised rules. The same goes for the Fear Level.
Note that Reaping of Souls cards were not legal in the Most
Wanted event at GenCon but the Fear Level still went up to
5. I was a bit surprised at this but nobody grumbled.

Is there not somewhere nearby that we can use if there is an overspill on
Friday??
I cant make Saturday as I have other commitments and it would be a shame to
restrict this event.
Perhaps next time an tournament is announced, an indication of places
available might be helpful.

Official release date for Revealtions in the UK is November 5th. Wizards UK
reckon it'd clash with Pokemon and the cards will definately not be
avaliable until after KC.

Ok, I've just had word from Sy that he's planning to come to
Ashford, and is bringing Team SELWG with him. This creates
problems.
Pop quiz - How many people are coming to Ashford because it's
nearer than Aldershot, and how many because it's on the Friday and
they prefer that to Saturday.
The reason I ask is that if you're coming clockwise round the M25,
which Dave, Paul, and Team SELWG will presumably be doing,
Aldershot is no more than 5-10 minutes further than Ashford in
travelling time, because it's straight down the M3 - I know,
because I do both regularly.
Andy, the manager of Cyberdyne, wasn't in today but he's back

It'll be a nightmare if I have to restrict it, but it's a distinct

Yuit and I stoked up with a fine English breakfast and then
we raced along the M40 to High Wycombe. The Reggie Groves
centre proved fairly easy to find and was quite a good venue
- bright, clean and airy with good tables and no smoking.
There were lots of magic players already going hard at it
for the Chicago PTQ but, unfortunately, only one other
Doomtown player - Darren Edwards. When it became clear that
we weren't easily going to find a fourth - we played a
3-player game:
Yuit - Blackjacks - a strong shootout deck
Andrew - Sweetrock - a multi-player deck built
for No End in Sight - complex
Darren - Coalition - shootout/events/deeds
Yuit started with a gang of Blackjacks while I started with
Howard and a Wisp. Darren started with The Ghost, Camille
and Sister Mary. Darren started with a bang by drawing a
straight flush for his first lowball! It was a shame that
he could never match this again in his shootouts no matter
how many studs he used.
I played Miss Greene's Room and discovered an odd thing
about it - it's not a saloon and so you can't play Cassidy
there for free. Darren played the Old Moon and the Green
Eye Saloons and sent The Ghost to take over my deed too.
There was fair amount of skirmishing between the three of us
over these early deeds and the early shootouts were
dominated by Death's Head Jokers - the others each had two
and they all came out fairly early.
Darren was using lots of events - Major Earthquake, Long Arm
of the Law, Founder's Day and Coach Comes to Town. We were
not using the Headline rule and so these all worked well for
him. He made the early running and, after a while, we
reached a stage where his 6 CP was beating my 5 influence.
I'd explained the victory condition issue to Yuit and Darren
and they were content to accept my recommendation that we
use the new version. This worked fine in this case as the
game still took about 2 hours to complete.
An amusing standoff then developed in Miss Greene's Room -
Spike and Father Juan on one side vs Windows and Sister Mary
on the other. Neither side felt like risking a showdown and
so I maintained control and the game was kept going on this
tenuous basis for several turns.
Eventually there was decisive shootout though and Yuit won
this with a clean four-of-a-kind to Darren's full house.
This turned the tide for the Blackjacks and they then
overwhelmed us with a swarm of influential dudes. So well
done Yuit.
We were cheated of any ghost rock though as Richard said we
needed 4 players to be sanctioned. We played some Brawl
while we waited to see if another player would be eliminated
from the PTQ but our most likely prospect made the top 8.
I'd given Darren a spare copy of Epitaph #3 and thought that
it would be interesting for him to see my Ghost Town deck in
action. It only drew one event on the first turn so the
Headline rule didn't matter but then won by playing LGM and
the Courthouse. Darren then took on Yuit's Blackjacks in a
duel and won in much the same way. He made money with an
early coach and then Long Arm of the Law booted most of
Yuit's dudes on turn 2. He then played the Old Town Hall to
overtop Yuit's influence and so won this game. With one
game each, honour was satisfied and we then retired home for
tea and crumpets.
While the turnout was disappointing, we at least did better
than the Netrunner which only attracted 2 players. The
venue is so good that I will encourage other players to come
for the next tourney and hope that we can build this into a
significant regular event.
Thanks to Richard to starting this off and thanks to Darren
for providing us with some tough opposition.

Thank the lord (Grimley) that I'm playing in Manchester. There seem
to be huge differences in playing style around the country. In
London I came up against heavy cheaters, TYWM turtles and Andrew D's
Ghost town(TM) deck. Whereas in Manchester people seem to be
event-lite and cheese free. In fact the decks that gave me most
trouble at the last tournament were a Blackjacks cowardy custard deck
(sit at home, make money and play Lord Grimleys) and a horrible New
Front deck that played loads of CP deeds. All in all the scene in
Manchester seems to be very amiable, making for enjoyable games.

Liam was talking about the use of "broken, slap u about decks" in the tournament
and how dull they r. i agree with him. of course i played a normal, fun deck at
the MMS tournie and died at the hands of many a "broken, slap u about deck" -
now i'm tempted to play with my own slap u about deck, as i recon its the only
chance i have of survival -
and i'm sick of seeing the same decks winning over and over again with no
challenge. the one i have in mind has beaten the infamous broken flock combat
deck so i have high hopes or at least lasting a bit longer in KC. i dont have
many RoS cards, so that could be a problem, but i at want to be able to try
fending off the overpowered combos that will
undoubtly be thrown at me.

Howdy pardners.
Just been in touch with my local games shop and KC organisers.
Unless I get a pleasant surprise by the end of this week we're
unlikely to see Revelations for another 1-2 weeks since they
reckon..."It's released at the end of this month". So barring a
pleasant surprise it's safe to say that it is unlikely that Stoker's
Alliance, the Sioux Warparty or Landed Rats will take Manchester.
It's a shame since I was already planning on modifying my Rangers
deck to a Coalition deck using some of the new cards. I might just
plump for playing for the dark side now.

Yeah I made the same assumption myself about attendance for the Friday one.
Turns out just about every man and his dog wants to come along, which may be
a problem. Here's the story.
Cyberdyne's a small computer games store in Ashford that also sell a select
range of CCG's. I did a demo in there after the release of Pine Box and got
them all into DT, although their main interest is B5. That said, at least 4
have said they'll play this Friday.
I also have the following down to play
Dave & Paul from Maidstone
Steve Bailey, and probably Dave Martin from Finchley
Mark Perry (a local)
Steve thought some SELWG might come too, and I have a feeling Sy said he
might come
That makes at least 9, not including SELWG or anyone who hasn't told me.
The store currently has playing space for 6, although we should be able to
squeeze 8 on the table. I'm gonna try to get a fold-down table in there, but
I need to talk to Andy about exactly where we're gonna put it!
The amount of interest for a Friday tournament has caught me on the
hop...haven't you boys got any work to do??? If I'd known in advance I could
have arranged more space...a lesson for next time.
Is anyone planning to go to Aldershot on Saturday - we can fit a life size
replica of Gomorra in there...

9 CP. You get an extra 2 from Grimeleys. I've done it, it's horrendous,
and I'm not saying any more about it because I don't want to give people
ideas. I'll not be using one in KC because Liam'll be playing under RoS
rules. The only effective counter I've seen is Termite Infestation, and even
that is temporary. Arson and BO are too easily countered- you should be able
to work out how yourself, but I'll not post how.
So anyway, I'll not be packing to counter it, but frankly I'm not
convinced that there is an effective counter. You can get a deck to the
point where if you get the right cards, and the Fear player doesn't, you can
win. But that's a lot to ask for. The Agency/Coalition have two possible
counters, Boom Boom and Ben Dean. Dropping the fear is a big problem for
such decks.

I doubt you'll have to turn players away on Friday but it
will be a tragedy if you must. I dislike the feast or
famine effect of these storyline weekends - think how much
better it would be if the same number of tournaments were
spread across a month.
If I'm in the country (50-50) I'd like to come to Cyberdyne
myself but don't want to make a booking I can't be sure of
honouring.
And does anyone know if entering more than one KC tournament
helps your faction proportionately? In MMS, I played
Sweetrock and then Blackjacks. It's clear at last that the
Blackjacks won and experienced Humphrey Walters seems quite
a useful asset for them.

Hi Guys,
Just to confirm, I'm running the following two KC tournies
Friday 29th, 1.00pm
Cyberdyne
Ashford,
Middlesex
Saturday, 11.00am
Esdevium Games
Aldershot
Hants
If you want to go to the Friday one at Cyberdyne, *please let me
know*. Both time and space are limited, and I may need to restrict
it.

Hi everyone
I was wondering about the kind of decks people will face in Kingdom Come.
With the fear level jacked up to 7, do you think Whately decks will
dominate? - they start with 1 CP.
Then with Grimleys they get 4CP and if the fear level hits 10, they get
7CP's - perhaps on first turn.
Is anyone stacking their decks to combat this???

O'Connor, Shurely? Or perhaps I'm under some bizarre confusion ;)
Anyway, just in case Liam's not on here yet, he can be reached through me
pretty easily. If you are, loud boy, then post something ;)
Isn't it annoying thsat most are on the same day? I'd have loved to play in
Edinburgh on one day, then bus to glasgow the next. Sigh.

The message archives don't seem to be working yet - probably
takes some time. Here's the key details that I posted
earlier - apologies to those that have already seen it but
this is the purpose of the list. Note that there is a

It's a shame that there isn't an event in London proper. I
made some effort to book a hall in central London but my
choice of venue was fully booked and I found it difficult to
do more from the US. Gerry has managed to arrange two
events but the closest one is on Friday afternoon. Still, a
low attendance should give you good winning chances. And
remember, you just need to show up to help your outfit
survive.
Gerry's event at Esdevium in Aldershot looks like the best
bet for S.E. players on the Saturday while Scottish players
are spoilt for choice. And if you want to play on Sunday,
it looks like Berlin is your best bet.
We shouldn't be discouraged if this isn't as perfect as we
might have wished. My experience of the tournament scene in
the US is that it is fairly patchy and it's only the major
conventions that draw large numbers of players. England has
put on a better show for this than for Madman's Secret -
it's now only second to the US.
My main regret is that WotC didn't arrange a Revelations
pre-release tournament at Pro Tour London. Did anyone go to
this? I didn't bother because it seemed to be Magic only
and that was my experience of Pro Tour New York too.

My deck tends to mutate as time goes by but I don't see why
I should tie my hands - it's bad enough dealing with the
regular handicaps that Sweetrock gets saddled with. Of
course, for a small friendly tournament, I wouldn't
necessarily play my cheesiest deck. Horses for courses ...
The Headline rule wasn't much of a problem but I'm more
concerned that the Fear level has gone up to 7. This makes
Ghost Infestation even more of a two-edged sword and makes
the Whateley's tough to beat. They are the team to watch
now and it's the Fear/LGM combo which you really need to be
worrying about. Mind you, there was some grumbling that I
cleaned out one of the dealer's LGMs at Gencon UK - perhaps
I did the non-Whateley players here a big favour ...
I don't see too many cards in Revelations which are going to
change matters so far as Sweetrock is concerned. Maybe one
could start with WCO and then switch to the original outfit
but this sounds tricky in practise. Still thinking ...

I don't think these would be welcome but others should feel
free to comment. If you search the Onelist site you'll find
that there's already a doomtowntrades mailing list with 44
members. Maybe you could try subscribing to this or start
another list for this purpose.

Well, a big thanks to Andrew for starting the list to give us an ongoing insight
to the game in the UK.
Hopefully we can stay in contact with one another and start to increase the UK
tournament scene.
Andrew, does the recent issue of the Epitaph mean that your championship winning
deck is retiring????
Will we be allowed to post trades on this list?
Here's hoping this gets popular!!!!
