[19:02] * GM|Gaia turns around slowly. "You awake." It's not a question, but a statement of fact.

[19:03] <GM|Gaia> ((Yes, that's all of you, even the KO'd ones.))
[19:03] * Yuki` looks to see if Gaia or that Golem are still ready to attack.
[19:04] <GM|Gaia> *The golem has vanished, and Gaia seems content to wait for you all to take some sort of initiative.
[19:04] * Aislinn opens her eyes and slowly moves into a sitting position. She says nothing, but if looks could kill...
[19:04] <Raoul> "Oof. Yes. So do all my nerves."
[19:04] * Yuki` looks for her rifle.
[19:04] <GM|Gaia> *Your gear is all present and undamaged.
[19:05] * Yuki` is keeping it close, looking injured and quite annoyed.
[19:05] <GM|Gaia> "Good.  You asked for battle, and it would be given.  And I promised to give you what you came here for."
[19:06] <GM|Gaia> "There will be two things that you did yet request.  Both have been made, and not yet made."

[19:07] * Yuki` just sighs to herself.
[19:07] <Aislinn> "Enough with the goddamn riddles."
[19:08] * GM|Gaia dips a hand into the pool, sending ripples across the still water. Hir withdraws it, to reveal a reddish brown crystal, 8 sides to it. "Secondly, the essense of the world."
[19:08] <GM|Gaia> "I belive you will call it 'the Earth Crystal'."
[19:08] <Yuki`> "...a Crystal."
[19:08] * Raoul stands up slowly, his everything hurting. He stops halfway up when he sees the crystal. "Is that..."
[19:09] <Aislinn> "Woo, the shiny rock is the door prize."
[19:09] * Aislinn gets to her feet, trying not to let her pain show in her expression.
[19:09] * GM|Gaia slowly moves back towards the party, stopping in front of Yuki. "My child still sleeping, so I give this to you, one of and not of my children."
[19:09] * Yuki` stands up slowly, using the gun to help herself up. "Well, admittedly, it's a really powerful rock."
[19:10] * GM|Gaia waits for Yuki to take, or decline the gift.
[19:10] * Yuki` will slowly take and hide it deep in her backpack. "...eh, why not?"
[19:11] * GM|Gaia nods. "I know you will return it to those who are its proper owners."
[19:11] <GM|Gaia> "Now, the first.  You came for my child.  A moment taken."
[19:11] <Raoul> "...If is is so powerful, we still have the problem of our acquaintances outside, waiting for us... But perhaps that bridge will light when we come to it."

[19:18] * GM|Gaia looks at everyone. "I believe I shall taste of this place called Earth."
[19:18] * Raoul blinks. "...Will you be getting there on your own?"
[19:18] * GM|Gaia crosses hir arms in front of hir, and quickly slides into the ground, leaving no trace of hir passage once hir is gone.

[19:23] <GM|> *Uileam will do so, unless Raoul volunteers?
[19:24] * Raoul wades in. "I will carry her."
[19:24] <GM|> *As Raoul moves to pick Aede up, her eyes flutter, and she awakes.

[19:26] * GM|Aede rolls over, and tries getting to her feet, the mud slowly dripping off. She holds a hand to her head. "Oooh. That feels.... ow."

[19:26] * GM|Aede looks around, identifying each of you. "Hey. Um." She looks down, then with a look of horror, turns around and hunches over!
[19:27] <GM|Aede> "WHICH ONE OF YOU THOUGHT I DIDN'T NEED CLOTHES?"
[19:27] <Yuki`> "... you don't?"  Yuki looks a bit confused.  "You were like that, covered in mud, when we found you."
[19:28] * Raoul blushes, stands up, backs away, averts eyes.
[19:28] <GM|Aede> "Well great!  But before we go any farther, could you spend less time talking, and more time finding something for me to wear?"
[19:28] * Yuki` doesn't have any extra clothes, onfortunately, so she'll look around for some random fabric.
[19:29] <Raoul> ((I don't have anything that'd work, either.))
[19:29] <GM|Aede> *Aislinn produces a spare pare of military fatigues, and combat vest, offering them to Aede.
[19:30] * GM|Aede puts them on, before standing up and turning back around. "There. Much better. I suppose Gaia is finally out of here?"
[19:31] <Yuki`> "It looks like it... what the heck was it, anyway?"
[19:32] * GM|Aede bends down to the pool, and scoops up some water to start wiping off mud. "Gaia? A Qu. I should have expected to find hir down here, but I forgot."
[19:33] <Yuki`> "Well, yeah, it was a Qu, but... it was insanely powerful."
[19:33] <Raoul> "It summoned rock-people from the mountain, and defeated us all handily."
[19:33] <GM|Aede> "Well, duh.  You'd have better luck beating hir by firing the Death Star at hir."
[19:34] * GM|Aede looks at you questioningly. "And why were you involved in a fight with Gaia?"
[19:34] <Raoul> "A what?"
[19:34] <Yuki`> "I, uh, think it wanted it.  I honestly couldn't understand a thing it was ever talking about."
[19:34] * GM|Aede pauses for a moment, before settling with a basic answer. "It's from a piece of Earth fiction, called 'Star Wars'. You should watch it sometime.

[19:35] <GM|Aede> "Well, Gaia isn't exaclty stable by your standards."
[19:36] <GM|Aede> "Well, actually, I still have to answer your first question, don't I, Yuki?  Short of it is, I came down here, and Gaia captured me, and we waited for someone to come get me."
[19:37] <Raoul> "It captured you? It did not sound as if it were holding you entirely against your will."
[19:38] * GM|Aede scratches the back of her head. "Well, maybe." She tries to change the subject. "I was asked to come down here to try and find the Earth Crystal. Any of you see it around? Reddish brown thing, 8 sides. Likes to float maybe?"
[19:39] * Raoul looks to Yuki.
[19:39] * Yuki` takes it out of the backpack. "It gave it to me before leaving. But we're not going to be giving it to the other nation that sent us both down here, I think."
[19:40] <GM|Aede> "You mean Jord?  Why?  It's theirs, I would think.  Being on their land and all."  Her eyes narrow.  "Unless you plan of trying to smuggle it out."
[19:40] <Yuki`> "If we can... yes.  I suspect these Crystals are too dangerous of a device for any one nation to have."
[19:41] * GM|Aede glares. "Like Reufelgo? Or the US? Or Russia? Which 'one nation' can't have a crystal?"
[19:43] * Raoul sighs. "I agree with the sentiment, but I can imagine nations other than Jord I would trust *more* with a powerful item. Though I admit some bias in the matter."
[19:43] <Yuki`> "Any one nation.  I'm sure there's at least a few people who can protect them without being tempted to use them."
[19:44] <GM|Aede> "Alright.  Let's back up for one second.  Why are you guys here?  We are kinda in the middle of Jord."
[19:46] <Raoul> "A very long story." ((And one I'd have to read some logs to remember fully.))
[19:47] <GM|Aede> ((You can always say you explain, and Aede will read the logs.))
[19:48] <Yuki`> ((Sounds good, because my memory is kind of spotty, too.))

[19:50] <Yuki`> "But can they be trusted with the Earth Crystal, either?  The Qu told me to take the Crystal to its proper owners."
[19:51] <GM|Aede> "And you would happen to know who said owners are?  What if it's the people of Jord?"
[19:51] <Raoul> "The Qu was exceedingly vague."
[19:51] <Yuki`> "The Qu was always horribly vague."
[19:52] * GM|Aede sighs, and rubs her temples. "Argh!"
[19:52] * Yuki` frowns. "...I guess if we want peace, we don't have a choice, huh?"
[19:52] <GM|Aede> "Fine!  We can settle this later.  But I'll tell you this.  Rostov knew it was down here, and that's why I agreed to try and get it for him.  If we leave, and they think it's still here, they'll keep looking for it here."
[19:53] <Raoul> "Even if we do not want them to have it, right now we have little choice - they outnumber us severely, and I doubt we can hide such an object."
[19:56] <Yuki`> "...right, then.  So, I guess I might as well hold it until they take it at the surface, then.  ...unless someone else wants to hold the thing."
[19:56] <GM|Aede> "Don't look at me!  I have no idea how I'll react to it!"
[19:56] * Raoul is quite fine with not holding the ancient powerful relic that nations would go to war over, thank you.
[19:57] * GM|Aede gestures at the entrance to the cavern. "Well, thankfully, the exit is right up there. Long trip in, Short trip out."
[19:57] * Yuki` raises an eyebrow, but just puts it back in the backpack. "Okay, then... but why would you end up reacting to it? It's not like it's doing a thing to me... if it can actually do things to people."

[20:16] * GM|Aede claps her hands together. "Excellent. If our cheery band of misfits can get going then? I've arranged things so we can return to the base level just by going up those stairs", she points to the way you came in.
[20:16] * Yuki` quickly starts disassembling the rifle and putting it away before she starts moving.
[20:17] * GM|Aede waits at the bottom for the rest of you to come along.
[20:17] * Raoul looks up. "Hm. I assume there are no other interesting rooms in this mountain we may need to visit on the way up? Because I would not mind taking the direct route, myself, either."
[20:17] * Aislinn heads after Aede, figuring she's got some questions to ask Yuki later.
[20:18] * Yuki` will follow Aislinn.
[20:18] <GM|Aede> "Nope!  The traps and stuff are to stop people from coming in.  Getting out is much easier."
[20:20] * Raoul heads up the stairs, then.
[20:20] <GM|Aede> *The party ascends the stairs, and finds themselves on the first floor, the same door by which you began your descent earlier.  Although the trio of Jord soldiers that bid you good luck are no where to be seen.
[20:21] <Yuki`> "That's... not so good."
[20:21] * GM|Aede looks around. "That's odd. Did I miss?"
[20:22] <Raoul> "No, this looks to be the same room as before. Just... there are no soldiers."
[20:22] <GM|Aede> "There were supposed to be?"
[20:23] <Yuki`> "There were when we first went in here."
[20:23] <Aislinn> "Maybe they're outside?"
[20:23] <Yuki`> "It's worth a check, at least."
[20:23] * Aislinn puts a hand on the hilt of one of her knives and goes outside to look.
[20:24] * GM|Aede walks nonchalantly amidst the party as they advance towards the exit. There is no sign of anyone in the entrance halls, no sign that anyone ever was.

[20:25] <Aislinn> "OK, now I'll say this is really bad."
[20:25] * Yuki` nods, and keeps a hand near her own knife. "Seconded."
[20:25] <GM|Aede> "Why?  There's plenty of people outside.  Although I didn't come in this way, so I think I may have connected with the wrong exit."
[20:26] <Yuki`> "...you can tell there's people out there?"
[20:26] <GM|Aede> "Yes.  Apparently.  Odd, now that I think of it.  Shall we go meet them?"
[20:27] <Yuki`> "I... guess so."
[20:27] <Raoul> "I doubt we have much choice. And at the least, I am curious as to why they pulled their soldiers out."
[20:28] <Aislinn> "Well, seeing as we're low on supplies, I don't see where we have a choice.  Let's go."
[20:29] <Yuki`> "Yeah, you're right, Aislinn."  yuki starts heading out.
[20:29] * Aislinn heads out as well.
[20:30] * Raoul also goes out into the sunlight. Only one way to see what to do next...
[20:30] <GM|Aede> *You find the door to the outside closed very shut.
[20:30] * Yuki` tries to open the door.
[20:31] <GM|Aede> *The door doesn't pull inwards, but it does swing outwards.
[20:32] * Aislinn grips her knife and waits to see who or what is on the other side.
[20:34] <GM|Aede> *The door opens, and there are some very surprised people on the other side, one of whom takes one look at all of you, and then runs away.  The other pulls a sword, and points it at you, trying to guard himself.  He starts yelling at you in Jord.

[20:34] <Aislinn> "Uh, translator, please?"
[20:35] * Yuki` keeps her hands where the soldier can see them. "So, anyone who knows Jord, this'd be a good time to start speaking it."

[20:36] * Raoul doesn't. He could ask in Etoile, though.

[20:39] * Aislinn would facepalm, but she's too busy keeping an eye on the people with the weapons.
[20:40] <GM|Aede> *It takes a few minutes as people try different languages before the one who ran away comes back, with a dozen or so man at his side.  Only a couple of them are armed.  And someone you recognize is with them.
[20:40] * GM|Aede cheerfully waves. "Rostov!"
[20:42] <GM|Aede> *The Jord Kommandant looks at Aede, and the rest of you.  "Oh, now what?"

[20:50] <Raoul> "We arrived in a diplomatic envoy. You specifically requested our assistance in bringing Ms. Kierly out of the mountain. We complied, as a show of good faith."
[20:52] <Aislinn> "...you don't remember requesting us to come and fetch her?"
[20:52] <Aislinn> "What's today's date?"
[20:54] * GM| rubs his fingers on the bridge of his nose. "Why am I not surprised?"
[20:54] <Yuki`> "Surprised about what, exactly?"
[20:55] <GM|> *The Kommandant gets up.  "Please give me a moment."
[20:56] * Aislinn sighs and leans back in her seat. "Sure, take your time."
[20:56] <GM|> *Rostov leaves in an orderly rush, then comes back in a couple minutes with a large book.
[20:57] <Yuki`> "At least he's more direct-"  Yuki quiets back up when Rostov comes back.
[20:57] <GM|> *He sets it down on the table, and opens it up, flipping it to a series of sketches that show the outline of the mountain, along with some circles, and Jord script over them.
[20:58] <GM|> *He tells you today's date, and it is two days earlier that what you know it to be.

[20:59] <GM|> *Aede snaps her fingers, then buries her head in her arms.  "I did miss!"

[21:01] <GM|> *Rostov looks around at you all.  "Now, please tell me exactly how you came to be here.  My nation has certain - contingencies for these things.  And as the head of Unspecified Services, it's my duty to deal with them."

[21:18] * Yuki` doesn't dare look at Aede and potentially give anything away. She starts thinking about that question...

[21:19] * Raoul shakes his head. "I did not."
[21:19] * Aislinn looks distracted.
[21:19] <Yuki`> "Hrm... doesn't ring a bell."
[21:20] <GM|> *Rostov leans back, and thinks.  "Alright, I suppose you'll have some questions for me then?"
[21:22] <GM|> "I am waiting on a response from my second before making any further decisions."
[21:22] <Raoul> "First that comes to mind: You mentioned that this is not the first time something like this has occurred. Can you perhaps speculate why, or how?"
[21:24] <GM|> "I am not at liberty to discuss previous events that Unspecified Services has dealt with.  Or will deal with. But this is not something outside the realm of possibility."
[21:25] <Yuki`> "I see... so my next question is, what will happen with Aede?  Is she allowed to leave?"

[21:33] * Yuki` takes out the one Elixir. "Only the one."
[21:35] * Raoul pulls his Elixir out. "And I have mine."

[21:36] <GM|> *Rostov picks it up, and examines the bottle.  He puts it back down with one hand, and reaches into his jacket with the other - removing a pair of similar bottles from the jacket.  They are all the same.

[21:37] <GM|> "Well, It will be hard to part with them.  I can ask for the one that remains back.  If you are willing to part with it."
[21:39] * Yuki` shrugs. "...may as well take it."
[21:39] * Raoul looks at his, and hands it over. "Try not to find a reason to use it."
[21:41] <GM|> *Rostov takes the 'older' elixer and puts it to one side, replacing the two younger ones in his pockets.  "So, is there anything else I should know?"

[21:41] * Yuki` shakes her head. "I can't think of much of anything, either."

[21:48] <GM|> *You all head for the train depot, a reverse of your journey in.  Aede at some point is given some better clothes, and returns the fatigues and vest to Aislinn, only slightly muddy for the wear.  Most of it can be brushed off.
[21:50] * Yuki` is not going to talk about what they saw until they are out of Jord territory and positive nobody else is around.
[21:51] <GM|> *The party boards the train, and you all take your seats as the same train that did (will?) bring you here and it pulls out of the station, chugging back towards the port city.

[21:52] * Raoul sits back and dozes. He doesn't sleep, but he lets the train go by under him. The non-linearity makes more sense there.
