[19:07] * Raoul listens to the devotionals as he gets his de-shined armor on. It's not music, but it's enchanting nonetheless. He wonders how much in bad taste it would be to ask if they had a phonograph recording of them...
[19:07] * Nikolai pulls himself from sleep, mentally recounting what he's doing here.
[19:09] <GM|Cadfael> "Ah, Lord Raoul.  Those who will accompay you will be available once they too are refreshed.  We do not have any of your cuisine here, so I am afeared that fresh fruits and bread will have to suffice.
[19:10] <Raoul> "Not to worry. Simple food before travel is better, anyhow, in my opinion."
[19:10] <Nikolai> "Practical."
[19:11] * Anika is used to a more simple fare, and doesn't complain.

[19:12] <GM|Cadfael> *After breakfast, Cadfael asks you to meet your companions by the front gate.  Your carriage has been prepared and stocked up.

[19:16] * Raoul neither dawdles nor rushes. He takes an apple to go.
[19:17] <GM|Cadfael> *At the front gate, three people wait with Cadfael.  One Elvann and a pair of Humes.  They each have thier own chocobos, and gear undergoing last minute packing.

[19:20] * Yuki` curtsies slightly in return.

[19:20] * Raoul nods, taking them in. "We are most glad to have your assistance."
[19:21] <GM|> *Rhaiva steps forward.  "We are pleased to accompany you.  This is a good chance to stretch our legs."
[19:22] <Nikolai> "That's one way to look at it."
[19:22] * Nikolai smiles warmly.
[19:22] <GM|> *He continues, "I will be in charge of the Order's contingent, so I look forward to learning more from you about this assignment."
[19:23] <GM|> *Cadfael steps aside as the carriage arrives.  "I trust your journey will be safe."
[19:24] <Yuki`> "Hopefully, your trust will be verified during our trip."
[19:25] <GM|> "Indeed.  May the Grace of Light go with you on your travels."
[19:26] * Yuki` looks into the carriage, then steps inside.
[19:27] <GM|> *Cadfael helps Yuki into the carriage.
[19:27] * Raoul hopes the Paladins are better at handling carriages than he is. He'll drive if no one else is able, but y'know.
[19:27] * Yuki` allows the help. Slightly. >_>
[19:29] * Anika hoists herself into the carriage after Yuki.
[19:29] <GM|> Once the party is ready, the three Paladins lead the carriage out of the monastary, and out onto the road, quickly taking up positions around the vehicle.
[19:31] <GM|> *After about an hour, Mair notices that Raoul isn't exactly the best person with the reigns.  She moves closer.  "Should I take over for you?"
[19:31] * Yuki` closes her eyes during the ride, focusing on... something. The others around may or may not feel the occasional slight twinge. >_>
[19:32] <Raoul> "I would appreciate it. I will get my practice in when time nor safety are of the essence."
[19:33] * Raoul hands them off, with just a hint of sheepishness.
[19:33] <GM|> *Mair quickly calls a halt, dismounts, and ties her chocobo to the carriage with a long rope, then takes over the driving.
[19:34] <GM|> "So, where are all you from, anyways?" Mair comments as the road twists around a large hill.
[19:35] * Anika gestures to herself and Yuki. "Hinodeumei."
[19:35] * GM| looks surprised at that. "Far from home."
[19:35] <GM|> *Mair looks surprised...
[19:35] * Yuki` opens her eyes in surprise, then nods. "Yes... it is. But we are getting used to it."
[19:36] <GM|> "Truth be told, this would be the first time I've gone so far."
[19:37] * Raoul looks up from the road ahead. "From the monastery, you mean?"
[19:37] <GM|> "Yes.  From home as well.  I was born around here."
[19:39] <GM|> *She adds after a few moments; "Does leaving get any easier?"
[19:39] * Raoul nods. "Yes. But it depends more on your intentions, your travels. When I leave with my friends to sail, it is easy, and so is coming home. When I leave for an important purpose, leaving is difficult..."
[19:40] <GM|> "What about the rest of you?  What do you think?"
[19:41] <Yuki`> "...it does get easier, in time.  But it's harder when you have an actual home to return to."
[19:43] <GM|> *Macus rides a bit closer.  "Forgive my sister, please.  She has always been of the 'home and hearth' type of person.  No sense of adventure."

[19:48] <GM|> *Marcus returns the glare with a smile of his own.  "Let them!  I'm ready!"
[19:52] <GM|> *Rhaiva snorts.  "Then be so."
[19:52] * Yuki` sighs a bit to herself and gets back to those... exercises or whatever she's doing.
[19:52] <Raoul> "...Curiosity requires me to ask, Marcus - what has prepared you so?"
[19:53] <GM|> "Oh, this and that.  Sometimes a belligerent monster will roam the country side, and we get to go deal with it.  I like to volunteer."
[19:55] <GM|> "What have you done?"
[19:56] <Raoul> "Many things I cannot talk of, for modesty or decency's sake. But I have traveled, by bird and sail, and met many interesting people and seen a few interesting things. Fortunately, only a small few of them have had to be introduced to my sword."

[19:57] <GM|> "Heh.  And the rest of you?"
[19:58] * Nikolai raises one hand. "This is my first real adventure, I suppose."
[19:58] * Yuki` keeps her eyes closed, focusing on something else. "...too much, I fear. I'd rather not say more."
[19:59] <GM|> Marcus looks at Yuki.  "I was told by a mentor that those who are aged deserve our respect, for they have survived."

[20:01] <Anika> "This is my first big adventure as well."
[20:04] <GM|> "Ah!  Then I shall take care you then!"  At this, Mair's fist lashes out, hitting her brother square in the upper arm.  "Don't."
[20:06] <GM|> *There is a stop for lunch at a walled inn, where the bo's are watered, and everyone can stretch.
[20:07] * Yuki` is definitely going to take the chance for some extra food.
[20:08] <GM|> *During this stop, Rhaiva talks to the innkeep to pay for the food.  And Mair takes Anika aside.
[20:08] * Nikolai heads in to the inn, looking for a sandwhich to-go.
[20:08] <GM|> "Sorry about my brother.  He gets ahead of himself, and if he tries anything on you, just hit him."
[20:12] <GM|> *The chocobo's are switched about, and loads distributed.  Rhaiva comes back.  "They haven't been seen in the area lately, although rumors of them on the other side of the border are not scarce. We should check at the border post, Marcus."
[20:15] <GM|> *When everyone is ready, the Paladins are ready to keep going.
[20:15] * Raoul is good to go, having stretched and walked a bit.
[20:16] <Raoul> ((speaking of which, brb))
[20:16] * Nikolai has a sandwhich, containing something like barbecued beef.
[20:16] * Yuki` gets back on the carriage, and starts those exercises a bit more. Eventually, she'll stop and finally relax.

[20:19] <GM|> *The party sets off into the afternoon, heading north-westerly towards the border with Etoile.
[20:21] <GM|> *Rhaiva falls back to the coach, while Marcus acts as an outrider.  "We shouldn't have any problems with the border guards.  I was given papers by Brother Cadfael.  Have any of you been there before?"

[20:22] <Yuki`> "Etoile?"  Yuki thinks for a moment...
[20:22] * Anika looks confused. "Tries anything?"

[20:22] <Raoul> "Yes, but it has been a while. And I never arrived by land."
[20:23] <Yuki`> "Oh, yes.  Anika and I were there for a short time on our trip from Hinodeumei."

[20:29] * Yuki` nods and keeps a lookout.

[20:35] * Yuki` breathes a sigh of relief to herself.
[20:36] * Anika has become restless, and fidgets boredly.
[20:36] <GM|> "Ah, Fort Crow.  We shall spend the evening there, and sally forth in the morning."
[20:36] <GM|> *Marcus looks dissapointed.
[20:38] * Yuki` looks at MArcus. "I'm sure you'll have all the time you need to battle later, when we aren't on potentially time-sensitive matters."
[20:39] <GM|> *The gates to the fort are open, and as you appraoch, you can see guards partolling the walls, as well as cannon ports.
[20:42] * Raoul looks at the cannons some, but that was never his forte. But he is glad to have arrived in Etoile, and to (hopefully) be done with the wagon for a while.
[20:42] <GM|> *As you enter, Rhaiva nodds at the guards at the gate, who let you pass without trouble.  "Bonjour." they say to you as you pass.
[20:42] * Yuki` returns the "Bonjour".
[20:43] * Nikolai offers a "Lovely afternoon, gentlemen." in fluent French.
[20:44] <GM|> *The guards accept your greetings, and return to their duties.
[20:46] * Yuki` gives a quick look and slight smirk to Nikolai.
[20:46] * Nikolai looks unassuming.
[20:46] <GM|> *Rhaiva turns his 'bo around inside the common area of the fort.  "There is an inn and tavern over there," he gestures to the left, "and I shall deal with the fees and such with the fort Capitan."
[20:48] <GM|> He adds; "Please rest yourselves, we have a long days travel tomorrow."
[20:48] <Nikolai> "Yes, sir."
[20:49] <Yuki`> "Right."
[20:51] * Raoul hasn't much to say, but he's definately ready to rest. Sitting in a carriage all day is surprisingly hard.
[20:52] * Yuki` will go ahead and head to the inn, thn.
[20:52] * Nikolai departs from the cart.
[20:53] * Uileam heads to the inn first to deposit his armor, then aims to find a small arms store to find a personal dagger to carry on his person while unarmored.
[20:55] <GM|> *Mair and Marcus take the bo's to the side to deal with them.
[20:56] <GM|> *Uileam can find a blacksmith who sells such things.
[20:56] * Uileam then heads to the tavern for a drink or two, a new dagger secured. [Any gil cost?]
