[19:09] * Nikolai is smiling earnestly.
[19:10] <GM|DiasBlack> "The nations of Thera, that being Reufelgo, Azure Islands and Etoile, have all decided to try and open Jord's borders diplomatically."
[19:10] * Raoul nods quietly.
[19:10] <GM|DiasBlack> "They have declined offers of help from Earth governements, but have requested you all specifically to come with them."
[19:11] <GM|DiasBlack> "As none of you are technically official representatives of the United States government, we can't really object."
[19:11] <Yuki`> "..."
[19:11] <GM|DiasBlack> *The Ambassador stands.  "Thank you, Captain Black."
[19:12] <GM|DiasBlack> <Ambassador> "We have asked you all to come, as you have already been to Jord, and we hope that by showing your faces in a positive light, we can overcome the initial distrust that has accrued."
[19:12] * Uileam looks a bit surprised at the news, but manages to keep quiet.
[19:13] <GM|DiasBlack> <Ambassador> "Madame Yuki, we would graciously invite you along on this journey.  As you have aided our Lord Raoul in some small degree, we hope you would accepta our hospitality in this regard."
[19:13] * Yuki` nods silently.
[19:14] <GM|DiasBlack> <Ambassador> "And as for you, Master Uileam, we do regret the necessity of your forced removal from your quest, and wish to aid you in returning to your chosen path.  If you choose to come with us, that is."
[19:14] <Nikolai> "Capital idea. I, for one, would be happy to participate."
[19:14] <GM|DiasBlack> "And I'll asume that Anikia will go as well.  Lovely."
[19:15] <Uileam> "Well, I don't think I'd be far off in calling this whole escapade a kidnapping, but if you're willing to leave me where I left off, I guess all can be forgiven."
[19:16] <GM|DiasBlack> *The Ambassador bows in way of apology.  "We do hope that can be the case.  We do regret our actions, or inactions as the case may be."
[19:17] <Uileam> "Can't do much but agree to go along, otherwise I'd just be lost over here and unable to do anything for my old friends on Thera."
[19:17] <Uileam> "So what an old man is saying is yes, he'll go along."
[19:17] * GM|DiasBlack accepts all this. "Now, the presensce of the Earth contigent is... limited. We can send observers, but no official representatives. That's where you come in."
[19:18] <GM|DiasBlack> "Officialy, you are to provide a pubic face of apology for our actions.  Unofficially, you are there to apologize."
[19:19] * Raoul raises an eyebrow. No second unofficial mission?
[19:19] <Yuki`> "...apologize how?  I think they might not just take words."
[19:19] <GM|DiasBlack> "If this goes well, the United States would like to establish Embassy with Jord, as we have done with the other nations.  We are hoping you can pave the ground for that."
[19:20] <GM|DiasBlack> *The Ambassador steps up again.  "Well, that is in the future, Captain."
[19:20] * Nikolai nods. "I think we can do this. Though, if I may, one question?"
[19:21] <GM|DiasBlack> "Yes?"
[19:21] <Nikolai> "The matter of Ms. Aide Keirley?"
[19:21] * GM|DiasBlack breathes deeply.
[19:22] <GM|DiasBlack> "Aede Keirley can take care of herself.  Officially, she is a Prisoner of a foreign nation.  You won't be told anything more than that."
[19:23] <GM|DiasBlack> <Ambassador> "Putting that aside, there is part of this mission that we would like to task you all with."
[19:23] * Nikolai saves further discussion for later.
[19:25] <GM|DiasBlack> <Ambassador> "When we return to Thera, I would like you to take this message to the leader of the Paladin's Order; one Luthien, Son of Angels."
[19:25] <GM|DiasBlack> *The Ambassador produces a sealed scroll case, and puts it down on the table.
[19:26] * Yuki` tries to remain extremely still at the mention of that name.
[19:26] <GM|DiasBlack> "It is a request for a small contingent of Paladins suitable to the task to meet with the diplomatic fleet in a certain harbour, to represent a non-government power seeking peaceful relations.
[19:26] * Uileam la la remains completely unaware of anything he doesn't know what Paladins are.
[19:26] <GM|DiasBlack> "You can see why this would be important to us."
[19:26] <Nikolai> "Not a problem."
[19:26] <Raoul> "Intriguing. The Paladins were certainly helpful in Azure's little war with Refulgo..."
[19:26] <GM|DiasBlack> ((YOu know what Paladins are.  Your nation is home to Dark Knights.))
[19:27] <Nikolai> "Where are these Paladins located?"
[19:27] <Yuki`> "So I heard.  Although I've also heard some... less charitable descriptions of a few."
[19:27] * GM|DiasBlack pipes up. "The Paladins are headquartered in the Paladin's Temple in the capital of Reufelgo."

[20:05] <Uileam> "As I'm sure you couldn't fathom, you become less choosy about your foods when living in the mountains.  I trust your food here is leagues above what I normally eat, and so it is always welcome."
[20:05] <GM|Ghaznavids> *Supper proceedes, with various small talks.  About an hour in, the Ambassador puts down his plate.  "I am sure you have some concerns over this embassy.  I would like to assuage your fears and answer your questions if I am capable.  I would like there to be trust between us, that we may better represent ourselves to the peoples of Jord."

[20:13] <GM|Ghaznavids> "We have confirmed a dozen vessels.  The Flagship, 6 cargo ships, 3 ships for the various personages we bring with us, and a couple ships in case of an impolite response."
[20:14] <GM|Ghaznavids> "And yes, Madame, we have considered that they may attempt to rebuff us, but this is not a case where we can leave empty handed."
[20:14] <Yuki`> "And how would our apology fit into this plan?  As a way to soothe matters after the first contact?"

[20:15] <GM|Ghaznavids> "Have any of you experience with major diplomacy?"

[20:19] <Raoul> "It is something of a sticking point, yes."
[20:19] <GM|Ghaznavids> "One of our goals is to discern her location and condition.  That information, as well as what it takes to get it, is a point we wish to explore."

[20:19] <Nikolai> "If possible, I would like to negotiate terms for her release among other concessions from Jord."

[20:21] <GM|Ghaznavids> "I am certain that you would like to take as direct an action as possible in that regard."

[20:22] <Yuki`> "The obvious start would be having them acknowledge her status as a prisoner of their nation.  But even that may be tough, depending."

[20:36] <Nikolai> "I assure you, I will do all in my power."
[20:37] <GM|Ghaznavids> "Their numbers, we can assure you, will number no more than a half-dozen."

[21:07] * Yuki` keeps frowning. "I don't think this is going to go well. We all need to be prepared for the worst."

[21:08] <GM|> *The train pulls out, and the conductor marks your tickets soon after the train leaves town.  It will be about three days before the train reaches the capital, with many stops along the way.
[21:08] <Uileam> "Sleeping in plate mail isn't exactly comfortable."
[21:09] <Raoul> "True. It makes for a slightly better pillow, though."
[21:10] <Uileam> "If you truly think so, you can sleep on it the first night."
[21:10] <GM|> *A few hours later, the train pulls into Anshan.
[21:10] <GM|> *There is quite a bustle as people get on and off.
[21:11] * Nikolai is calm, but alert, aware of his surroundings.
[21:12] <Uileam> "Hopefully it's calmer at night."
[21:13] <GM|> *After about an hour as the train switches cars, it pulls out again.  It is now dusk.
[21:14] <Yuki`> "...right.  I guess we should think about what to do in the worst case while we wait."
[21:14] <GM|> *And the next cubicle over is quite noisy.  Sounds noisy, like someone is moving around a lot.
[21:15] <Uileam> "Yes, well, I'll think about that in my dreams.  If you'll excuse me, I at least need a nap.  It's been a long, long time since I've had a good rest."
[21:15] * Uileam tries to find a comfortable sitting position in his plate to appease the others, though that's rather difficult, to say the least.
[21:15] <Yuki`> "...right."  She looks in the direction of the other cubicle.  "We'll save it for another time, then."
[21:16] <Nikolai> "Indeed."
[21:17] <Uileam> (( Only a madman would attack at night! ))
[21:17] <Uileam> (( Or a vampire. I'll brb, drink ))
[21:17] * Raoul decides to take a stretch outside, in the hall. Just to move some.
[21:17] <GM|> *A crash comes from next door, and very quickly, the door to the next cubicle is thrown open, and you hear the sounds of someone running out into the corridor.  A moment later, you can hear a woman's voice call out.  "Get back here!"
[21:17] <Nikolai> "Taking a walk, Raoul? I'll join you... Hmm?"
[21:18] * Nikolai steps out into the hall.
[21:18] <GM|> *A small mithra runs headlong into Raoul, narrowly missing Nikolai in the process.
[21:18] <GM|> <Young Mithra> "I wanna see it again!"
[21:18] * Yuki` stands up and makes sure her knife is close by before leaving to see what's going on.
[21:18] * Raoul would be watching, but he's just been plowed into by a Mithra. "...Buh?"
[21:19] <Nikolai> "What?"
[21:19] <GM|> *From the door, an older mithran woman, still in her prime, crawls out, trailing an open suitcase.  "ILA!  GET BACK HERE THIS INSTANT!"
[21:19] * Uileam wakes with a start and grumbles to himself, standing up as fast as he can. "Stupid kids and their antics..."
[21:19] <GM|> <Ila> "But I saw it, and I wanna see it again, Kade!"
[21:20] <Raoul> ((o.o))
[21:20] <GM|> <Kade> "Ack!  Ila!  Apologize to that man at once!"
[21:20] * Yuki` raises an eyebrow.
[21:20] <GM|> *Ila looks up at Raoul, noticing him for the first time.  "Sorry mister, but I saw a flying boat, and I want to see it again!"
[21:21] <Raoul> "A... flying boat?"
[21:21] * Nikolai looks to Kade. "Ah. An airship? Where?"
[21:21] <GM|> *Kade sighs, and manages to disentangle herself from the clothes and comes for Ila.  She bops the younger girl on the head.  "There are no flying boats here.  You should know that."
[21:22] <GM|> *Ila looks at Nikolai, "Back in the city!  It was small, and OW, Kade!  I want to see it again!"
[21:23] <Nikolai> "Ah. How interesting..."
[21:24] <GM|> *Kade reaches, and grabs Ila firmly.  "I do apologize.  She has an overactive imagination."  She whispers something into the girls ear.
[21:24] <GM|> <Ila> "Awww, Kade..  But I don't wanna go to sleep!"
[21:24] * Raoul is pretty mystified. He expected another crack-assault team, not, uh... this.
[21:25] <GM|> <Kade> "No choice, Ila.  We have a long trip ahead of us."  She looks to Raoul.  "Sorry about this, sir.  Really.  ILA!  BED!  Now!"
[21:25] * Nikolai heads back to his cabin.
[21:25] <GM|> *With this, the mithra enter their room again, and more sounds emerge, like that of any young child fighting going to bed.
[21:26] * Yuki` sighs as she sits down in their cabin again. "I'm glad it was just that, although we might need to look into that mini-airship thing."
[21:27] <Uileam> "well, that certainly was the worst that could happen.  Good thing we planned for it."
[21:27] <Raoul>  "Um. Yes. Yes, investigating that small airship would be a good idea..."
[21:27] * Raoul shakes it off.
