[19:33] * Aislinn` goes without resistance. She examines Rostov thoughtfully, but keeps a blank expression on her face.

[19:34] <GM|Rostov> *The moogle finishes fiddling with the device, and behind him, an I-D portal opens.  On the other side is White Sands.
[19:35] * Yuki` blinks and immediately tries to stand up.
[19:35] * Aislinn` cocks her head. "Interesting."
[19:35] * Uileam raises an eyebrow. "And this is... ?"
[19:35] * Anika suddenly goes white.
[19:35] <GM|Rostov> *Through this new portal steps Dias Black, in full dress uniform.  With him is a half-dozen marines, armed to the hilt, and then some.  The guards along the walls come to attention.
[19:36] <GM|Rostov> "Welcome to Jord, Captain Black."
[19:36] * Aislinn` immediately snaps to attention.
[19:36] <Yuki`> "...oh, boy..."
[19:36] * Raoul blinks. In a moment, he nods curtly. This is more embarassing than welcome, though not by much.
[19:37] <GM|Rostov> <DiasBlack> "Thank you, Colnel Rostov."  He looks at you, no hint on what he must be thinking on his face.
[19:37] <Aislinn`> (( Yes, I realize his Army, but he's still a superior technically. ))
[19:37] <GM|Rostov> ((Dias reports directly to the POTUS.  Hell yes.))
[19:37] <GM|Rostov> "Your end of the bargin?"
[19:37] * Uileam continues to be blissfully unaware of... everything!
[19:38] * Aislinn` is the very model of a well-trained soldier. She stares straight ahead, keeping her chin up and back straight.
[19:38] <GM|Rostov> *Dias beckons, and another person comes through the portal, this one with a briefcase.  It is handed to Rostov's assistant, who opens it carefully and confirms the contents.  She nods, and Rostov looks at the party.
[19:39] <GM|Rostov> "You are free to leave.  Your warrant has been paid."
[19:39] <Uileam> "... sir?"
[19:39] <GM|Rostov> *Dias looks over the party.  "And where's Aede Keirly?"
[19:39] * Yuki` also looks about for Aede.
[19:40] * Aislinn` . o O (Why do I have the feeling I am going to be doing a lot of running and push-ups in the coming days?)
[19:40] * Uileam looks for his effects. He doesn't feel like owing the city twice the amount he already does.
[19:40] * GM|Rostov looks at Captain Black. "She is an honoured guest of our government, a hostage to your good will, to put it bluntly. You are not getting her back, or her unique talents so easy."
[19:40] * Raoul 's eyebrow goes up a notch.
[19:41] * GM|Rostov nods, and the guards behind you start moving you towards the waiting portal. Looks like there is only one way out for you, and that's through the I-DEMON portal.
[19:41] * Yuki` mutters under her breath "Oh, hell..." as she gets moved.
[19:41] <Uileam> "... our effects, SIR."
[19:42] * Aislinn` ain't moving until she's ordered to. By Dias.
[19:42] * Anika trembles visibly.
[19:42] * Uileam is a stubborn old man, dammit!
[19:42] <GM|Rostov> "Have already been delivered.  Proof of our capacity.  You can retreive them at the leisure of Captain Black.
[19:42] <GM|Rostov> "
[19:42] <GM|Rostov> *Dias sees Aislinn staying put, and roars out "MOVE IT!"
[19:42] <Uileam> "Nice of you to tell us that before hand," he says.  Not sarcastically at all.
[19:42] * Raoul moves along.
[19:43] * Aislinn` is through the portal two seconds after he speaks. . o O (Fuck. I am so screwed.)
[19:43] * Uileam acquiesces to that whole moving thing now.
[19:43] * Anika takes a deep breath, and reluctantly follows everyone else.
[19:44] <GM|Rostov> *As Yuki's escort reaches the person who delivered the briefcase, she hands over the wheelchair, as well as some documentation.  "Medical files for her stay here." she says by way of explanation.
[19:44] * Yuki` raises an eyebrow.
[19:45] <GM|Rostov> *Dias waits for the party to be trundled through before saluting Colnel Rostov.  Rostov returns his own salute.  "You had best be leaving, Captain.  We don't like unwelcome guests."
[19:46] * Aislinn` snaps back to attention once she's on the other side. She simply wills her stomach to remain in place.
[19:46] <GM|Rostov> ((These people aren't evil, and treated Yuki well, for she was obviously sick.  And gave copies of the medical files to the people they were passing her off too.))
[19:46] * Uileam looks around at the unfamiliar surroundings.
[19:47] <Yuki`> ((Oh, okay. Misunderstood that a bit.))
[19:47] <GM|Rostov> *Dias steps through the portal, and is followed by the marines.  The I-D closes behind him, leaving only White Sands AFB, Nevada, Earth.

[19:47] * Raoul breathes a quick puff of relief. That could have gone much, much worse.
[19:47] * Aislinn` is trying to hide a smile. She knows she's likely in deep shit, but it's good to be back on American soil.
[19:48] * Yuki` keeps a good deal away from the wheelchair on the other side. She is not getting in that thing again if she can help it.
[19:48] * GM|DiasBlack looks at the party. "Does anyone need medical attention before I start?"
[19:49] * Yuki` shakes her head. "No, I'm feeling better now."
[19:49] * Anika looks at Yuki, now that she is safely on the other side, clearly concerned. "Are you alright?"
[19:50] <GM|DiasBlack> *Seeing a lot of negatives, Dias looks at all of you.  He points at Uileam.  "You.  What's your name?"
[19:50] * Yuki` looks at Anika. "It was frightening, but I can breathe okay now, at least."
[19:51] <Uileam> "Everyone seems so friendly around here.  I swear, it would have been much more pleasant to live the rest of my life a hermit."
[19:51] * Anika nods, not looking entirely satisfied with that answer.
[19:51] <Uileam> "Uileam, sir."
[19:52] <GM|DiasBlack> "Well, Uileam, you just found out something that's very secret.  The bad news is, you're in it now.  The good news is, you get to stand somewhere else."
[19:53] * GM|DiasBlack looks at the rest of you. His voice take that tone that indicates that he's *very* angry with the lot of you. "Congraduations. You got caught as spies. We are down one UAV, one portable I-D generator, and one of our most experienced field agents. I hope you have a *very* good explanation."
[19:53] * Aislinn` . o O (Maybe they'll keep me stateside this time. <.<)
[19:54] * Aislinn` , in a rare moment of self-control, stops herself from making a smart remark.
[19:55] <Raoul> "There may be worse news than even our failure."
[19:55] <GM|DiasBlack> "Go on."
[19:56] <Raoul> "The area we were sent to investigate was, in many ways, less than normal. Especially the one 'living' creature we encountered inside the facility there."
[19:56] * GM|DiasBlack waits for you to continue
[19:57] <Yuki`> "It was a teleporting bear... sort of thing.  We ended up having to kill it before it killed us."
[19:57] <Raoul> "Forgive my lack of technical expertise on this subject, but it looked to have appeared through a portal that none of us initiated."
[19:57] * Raoul nods.
[19:57] * Aislinn` did not witness any of this, and thus keeps her trap shut.
[19:58] * GM|DiasBlack looks at Yuki, a slightly confused expression crossing his face, before returning to the subject at hand. "What else did you find?"
[19:58] * Uileam has no idea what he's in the middle of. He lets the other people blather on.
[19:59] * Anika remains quiet, and lets the adults do the talking. They don't tell her nothin'.
[20:00] <Yuki`> "Some of the stuff in there was in some language I hadn't seen before."  Yuki looks to the others.  "What did you call it, again?"
[20:00] <GM|DiasBlack> <Nikolai> "It was written in Russian."

[20:02] * GM|DiasBlack nods. "English, Fench, Russian. Languages keep matching up."

[20:03] * Yuki` thinks...

[20:07] <Yuki`> "The stuff inside seemed kind of wierd.  I'd never seen it before."
[20:07] * Yuki` looks down. "But then again, I'd never seen much of that kind of thing."
[20:08] <GM|DiasBlack> "And why is it I'm getting most of my information, such as it is, from the woman who was in the hospital, and technically doesn't work for me?"
[20:09] * Uileam mentally smirks.
[20:10] <Aislinn`> "Sir, I had only made contact with the party when we were detained by Rostov, sir."
[20:10] * Raoul could come up with excuses. He won't. "If you would like some opinion - which is now all I can offer - I give this: the devestation around the facility is what worries me the most, not the bear and its transportation. But I do not know how it compares to Earth's ability to destroy, so I did not bring it up immediately."
[20:10] <Uileam> (( Did not address an officer by the proper rank! Twenty push-ups! ))
[20:11] <GM|DiasBlack> "What do you mean?"
[20:11] * GM|DiasBlack ignores the marine.
[20:12] <Raoul> "Partially, I do not know which possibility worries me more: that it is greater than what you can produce, or lesser."
[20:12] <Raoul> "But to truly answer your question? Trees flattened, life eliminated. The earth was scrubbed clean."
[20:13] <Raoul> ((the above, IIRC. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not gonna go log-diving right now.))
[20:13] * GM|DiasBlack rolls his hands. "I was looking for an answer more on how big."
[20:13] <GM|DiasBlack> ((Think Tunguska, only smaller.))
[20:13] <Raoul> ((Okay, so I'm not too off.))
[20:13] * Raoul almost raises an eyebrow, but stops himself even of that. That... says a lot of how Earth looks upon destructive technology.

[20:15] <Raoul> ((Raoul is used to explosive destruction, cannons or magic. Tunguska would be more impressive than that in its effectiveness, scale be damned.))
[20:15] * GM|DiasBlack nods. "From what he have been able to tell, and with Mr. Brown's help, we figure they were trying to build an I-D portal of somesort, and it exploded. Not pleasent."
[20:16] <GM|DiasBlack> "Now, before I dismiss you, I'm gonna tell you something."
[20:16] * Anika shakes her head. She knows from personal experience.
[20:17] <GM|DiasBlack> "Colnel Rostov contacted us, and told us of your capture.  Your ransom was I-D specifications so an accident like the one that drew our attention didn't happen again, as well as other... promises.  And it seems Ms. Keirly as well."
[20:18] * Yuki` especially frowns at the last part.
[20:19] <GM|DiasBlack> "And now, I'm going to give you a job while we take you to the hospital for checkups.  You all get to introduce Uileam here to the I-DEMON project."
[20:20] * Yuki` looks a bit confused, but nods slightly. It's not like she'll be able to do much of anything with that.
[20:20] * Uileam returns his attention to the matters at hand at the mention of his name.
[20:21] * Aislinn` . o O (Great, maybe someone will explain a bit to me instead of just pushing me off some place...)
[20:21] <GM|DiasBlack> *Several ambluances appear, and you are loaded in.  Time for tests, to make sure nothing untoward happened to you during your last mission!

[20:26] <Uileam> "And how do they travel between worlds?  I assume that little device back in the prison had something to do with it."
[20:26] * Aislinn` sighs and shakes her head. "I should educate you people. Give you some culture."
[20:27] <Raoul> "Yes. That opens the... door?"
[20:27] * Raoul shrugs the detail off. "In any case, it is the key."
[20:27] <Uileam> "And those machines are the only way to go between the two worlds?"

[20:39] <Aislinn`> "Perhaps they encountered visitors?"
[20:40] <Anika> "It seems to me that the governments of Earth are in possession of most of the tech. If people are experimenting with it here, well, that could be messy."
[20:42] <Anika> "At least Jord knows how, now. But where they got the idea in the first place still interests me."
[20:42] <Aislinn`> "...wouldn't be the first time, but I'd like to think we'd learned from our mistakes.  At least, in America.  Other places, like North Korea or China?  Not so sure."
[20:43] <Raoul> "There are no perfectly wise nations. Only those who have made more mistakes, and lived."
[20:43] <Anika> "I don't think the project is widely known about on Thera, is it?"
[20:43] <Aislinn`> "Why do we assume there's only two worlds?  What if there's a third place that started it all?  Some advanced place, like that species that spread its DNA everywhere in Star Trek and started most of the races...nevermind."
[20:44] <Aislinn`> "Anyway, say there's a third place and they visited each of our worlds?  Or maybe someone just stumbled onto it by accident and got teleported to the other place.  There are plenty of myths of strange creatures appearing from nowhere."

[21:00] * Raoul is considering implications, along lines he hasn't thought heavily on in weeks. He looks up now, though. "Ms. Kierly is more than she seems, and more than I can guess at. But I can say that about many of the people I've met in the past month."
