The results of last weekend's themed competition are on my web page at
http://www.geocities.com/jandagrahamleigh/

It went very well, despite a couple of players dropping out at the last
minute so that we were down to 14. It was commented that the theme
allowed for historical matchups of wildly different armies. Dave
Morrison scored 59 points out of 60 (15-0 scoring) with his Pergamenes,
winning the competition by a 21 point margin - a brilliant effort.
Generally the small regular armies did as well as or better than the
huge irregular ones.

I've emailed the players about next year, and of the eight who've
replied so far seven are happy to continue with DBM 3.1 (the other one
wants to switch to DBMM). Most players now use either FoG or DBMM as
their primary rules set, but they still want to play in the DBM themed
competitions. The next theme, suggested by Adam Worsdale, will
be "Lords of the Steppes", armies of the Mongol expansion, 1206-1279.

Cheers

John GL
