That is certainly one way to go, but there is still an expense. The point really is about being forced to pay a fee that others can reasonably avoid. I did receive a reply from Katie Harris at the ADO office and she has forwarded it to the Executive Board. Perhaps an arrangement can be made with the airlines to waive the fee for the first bag for those that do not have the option of carrying on all of their luggage.
Oh, it appears that US Airways has also adopted this same policy. Expect others to follow as well.

Hi David,
I've found that sending my darts to the hotel, 2-day Fed-Ex for usually about $11 is the way to go. They hold them at the front desk until I check in to the hotel.
I had my checked bag held up by TSA on the way to a tournament recently, I didn't get my bag until well after midnight on Friday night. I will never forget to Fed-Ex my darts again!
Yes, it may cost me $11 or $12 to send my darts, but at least I know they'll be there when I get to the hotel. And I don't have to pay $25-$30 to the airline for the inconvenience of checking a bag.
Rose
P.S. Maybe the ADO can make an agreement with FedEx that gets us a discount!
