I'm definatly looking forward to d20modern. It has some area's that are a bit

new doors for companies to work with.

We need to keep a little conversation going on this list or it isn't doing any
of us any good.
What is everyone's favorite Campaign setting with D20?
What new D20 products are you looking forward to?
Anyone on the list of any significance to the D20 world(ie Editor in Chief of

What I have noticed is that the quality of the artwork and quality of the
books looks are directly porpotionate to the quality of information inside.
This is definatly true. I have noticed quite a few books with dissapointing
artwork, that have truly been a waste of time to look through.
My theory

This is an interesting way to think of it. And for some companies that have
really grasped the feel and touch of the OGL, they are in ways rising the bar
for WOTC. Such as Sword & Sorcery, Green Ronin's Freeport products, and Atlas
Games Products. All three of the companies are pumping out some really great
stuff in my opinion. Although I'm not much of a fan for S&S's scarred lands
setting, the creatures, spells, ritual magic and such is really interesting.
And with sub divisions like Malhavoc Press, they are definatly making an
impact on WOTC!
My only complaint is that everything seems geared towards a younger
audience.

True enough. But then again look at how much $$ they made of the whole
Pokemon CCG. Although Pokemon itself is dying out rather quickly, the whole
Anime scene is pounding forth stronger than ever. I have the feeling we will
start seeing some official products for these setting soon enough. If not
from Wizards then from other companies. Yu-Gi-Oh, Cowboy Bebob, and a whole
shlew of others are hitting the charts now. My little brother basically lives
to watch those TV shows.
Elbryan let me get a little info on what
> kind of columns you are wanting written.
Basically I am looking for anything d20 and OGC. Whether it be PrC's, new
magic, rules, ideas, DM help articles, Player help articles, or whatever
really. If you head over to the site and download the first issue of TL, that
will give you some ideas. The first issue has some kinks in it, such as not
being totally OGL complient. But the second one is pretty set. For the most
part though we are looking to assemble a stead group of writers. The forum
has quite a bit more info to find out if your interested as well. Let me know
if you have any specific questions and I will answer them.

I like the open gaming license idea. The d20 system in itself seems both more
simplified and at the same time adds a new demension to game play. There are a
lot of products coming out, and yes some (maybe most) are crap. What I have
noticed is that the quality of the artwork and quality of the books looks are
directly porpotionate to the quality of information inside. Wheel of Time RPG
seemed very well done and had art work to match. My theory is that WOTC has
decided to allow the competition in on their system knowing that no other
publisher will put out the quality of authentic Dungeons and Dragons (TSR/WOTC)
products, and I think they have raised the bar somewhat.
My only complaint is that everything seems geared towards a younger audience.
They seem to be trying to get the pokemon hype started for Role Playing Gamers.
Those are two worlds that shouldnt mix.
Elbryan let me get a little info on what kind of columns you are wanting
written.

I just got the prophecies of the dragon for the wheel of time rpg. I
will let you all know what I think after I give it a read. I am
currently catching up on The wheel of time Rpg. I skimmed it through
when It came out in october, but I never sat down and gave it a solid
read. I am doing that now, and I like it so far. It is written
better than starwars was. The designers have put a lot of effort into
making it have the wheel of time feel. They are also much clearer
on newer elements such as the defense rating and the dr works for
multiclassing than star wars was.
The game as the equvalent classes for fighter, rangers, and rouges.
The noble is carried over almost excatly from star wars, but it seems
to work here. The channeling/ magic system is good. I wish my d&d
wizards could overchannel(basicly, being able to cast more spells
than they normal can). The only drawback is that the number of
weaves/spells is seriously low.
The combat is straight d20. The experince system is simular to the
one described in star wars, though written better.
I would like to here what you have to say on any d20 system. Reviews
of systems and adventures are one of the things that will help this
group out alot. Thanks.
Ive been gaming for a long time now, I once had a GM who changed game
systems as often as he changed his underwear...so Ive played a little
of everything.
I havent heard alot about Chainmail, and its use of the D20 system,
so if anyone out there has an opinion, or is familiar with the rules
Id like about it.
Im currently running a Star Wars game in the Baltimore area with 2 or
3 players and could use at least 1 to 2 more. We play a loose
schedule maybe once every 2 months, and Ive been with the same group
for over 10 years. I think some new blood would energize my creative
side. Maybe increase game time.
Good to see you online Mythify, its been a while.
With all the interest in alternate game settings, I would think that
there would be more information available on the D20 basics...maybe a
hard copy instead of just the online stuff......There might be a
market for a book that just provided rules for combat, magic, and
Character types, and leave all the world stuff blank, to be adjusted
to fit your mood.... Now thats something I would buy.
Currently all that I am running is a small Star Wars group that I
have just kicked off. I am undecided on how I feel about the Star
Wars game though. My group is okay, but Wizards is about to stick me
for another $40 for a "revised" edition. It sounds more like a
complete overhaul.
I grant that the current version is lacking in a lot of areas. If the
revised edition is a marked improvement, it will be worth the cash.
Oriental adventure realy impressed me. The Legend of the five rings
books that followed it though were even better. I have always wanted
to run an asian type game, but have had trouble finding players.
Dragonstar looks promising...but is taking forever to arrive. I paid
for all three books late lst year, and so far only the first book has
come out.
I enjoyed Wheel of time. It was a solid book. Of particular intrest
is the magic system for casting weaves. I feel that it did a good job
of capturing the feel of the books, while being similar to D&D
mechanics.
I am a big fan of Deadlands...but have not picked up the d20
version. Has anyone?
I read on the wizards home page that Marget Wies and her husband have
bought the rights to do a Dragonlance d20 book. That should be good!
Hello all. As the owner of the d20 gamers group that you all belong
to, I wpold like to apologize for the long period of inactivity. I
tend to manage the site on a daily basis, as much as possible.
Please consider d20 gamers as an open and active site. As a gm
myself, I know how useful it is to be able to bounce ideas off of
others.
If anybody has any ideas to improve the group, or would be intersted
in moderating, please let me know. I can be reached at
mythtify@....
Thanks, and good gaming
Hey everybody,
I have been DM/GM ing games for the last 10 years. With the advent of
D20 I am putting together a new play group(s). If you are interested
in playing in the Knoxville area, or if you would be willing to meet
online to play a couple days a week (at least) email me.
(isyoursoul4sale@... or cantrelld@...)
I am fairly easy going as a DM. If your interested or want more
details hit me with an email.
Thanks,
D.

I'm new here, been roleplaying for the last 20

some of the monsters seem to have been made into
"Diablo: The Tabletop RPG"<br>I'd like to see a Cyberpunk

making Ravenloft), a generic superhero setting for d20,

i'd modify the rogue. give them all knowledge
skills as class skills. special abilities? bonus to
listen and spot checks as levels go up. maybe an ability
called "leap of logic" that gives them some insight to
their current situation, again they can use it more
often and it gets better as levels go up. special bonus
to hit with weapons that require tehnical knowledge,
hand guns or crossbows, etc. "reverse engineer",
ability to figur out how something works and duplicate
it. depends on how much tech there is in the
game.<br><br>does anybody know of some good steam punk resources

i am an old time gamer and i am thinking of making my own RPG system. but what
is this about OPEN D20 system? where do i find more info on the use of it?
thanks in advance
I bought the Foundation didn't think to much of
it. The rules were a little vague and the updated
rules they let you download for free are to
complicated, to many prerequisites for powers. I believe that
a compromise could be worked out between the two.
<br><br>I the latter version Brick, Energy Blasters and
Mentalists are all prestige classes. The Brick is just a
rip-off on the Barbarian and gain the base attack as
equal to their Martial Artist class. It might just be
me but I don't think the Hulk (a brick) should have
a base attack equal to say a Captain America or
Spiderman.<br><br>I think that you could make a good low powered
super-hero game with D20. Wouldn't be on par with Hero

I got a promo copy--it's a very nice little
product. I especially like the handouts & the "slightly
more unique than average" plot. I'll definitely check
out your products as they become available. I'm the
"DM who's got everything" archetype, but I really
enjoy new product that is somewhat unique. If you
REALLY wanna get my dollars, publish some stuff for
not-so-generic fantasy settings. If I never see another
adventure with goblins in it, it'll be too soon. Also, I
have TONS of low-level adventures and there are
companies cranking out 1st level stuff in lame generic
fantasy settings all over. I'd kill for some high-level
stuff set in REALLY unique places (i.e. not just mixing
two earth cultures like fantasy snapple). I'm big on
maps, too. If it has nice maps but the plot sucks, I
might just buy it anyway. I tend to buy just about
anything that has stuff for use with miniatures or
counters to help players visualize the action (gridded
maps for use w/ 25mm minis, etc...) As far as plot, I
do enjoy a unique plot but I don't like stuff that's
too wordy. I can embellish on my own. In general, I
LOATHE boxed text. Give me a sketch and let me paint it.
If you get right down to it, what I want out of a
gaming product is for someone to do all the boring crap
I don't want to do for me. I like weaving the plot,
telling the story. What I want from any game supplement
is STATS, MAPS, PROPS (cut outs to use w/ minis,
illustration books, documents--especially stuff I can re-use),
& mid to high level NPCs that are WELL thought out
(written with the same level of detail & strategic
thinking as players are wont to use) & have quick to
reference notes on their spells, tactics, etc...
<br>Anyway, that's just my point of view. I hope it helps.
NeMoren's Vault was good, but there's always room for more
innovation.<br>MtbDM
I'd like to see some rules for CyberPunk /
Shadowrun type stuff in the D20 system. Unfortunately, FASA
collapsed, so I'll probably have to adapt somebody's
home-brewed system off the web. Anyone seen a good
one?<br>MtbDM

Well, I think I'm going to dive right in with
this post. This club is about 'Systems' for the d20
game rules. So far this has included D&D and I'm sure
everyone has heard about the upcoming Star Wars game as
well. I've also seen a number of on-line write ups that
are basically just D&D with some new races and
classes added in for flavor.<br><br>But d20 is open for a
reason. Here are two ideas dancing through my head. 1>
"Creatures of the Night".. along the lines of White-Wolf's
World of Darkness but obviously not cloning it.
Personally, I was thinking something more in line with the
WB's tripple threat Buffy/Angel/Charmed series..
Demons, Witches, Vampires, Fallen Angels, Werewolves,
etc. Probably a little darker...<br><br>2>
"Metahumans": A working title of course. But your basic
superhero stuff worked in there. With X-men out and a good
number of the marvel stuff going to theaters, Comic
books are going to be a big source of
inspiration.<br><br>So those are my thoughts. Eventually I'm going to
put up my own web page and try compiling this stuff a
little so we can use it. I'm sure there are pleanty of
creative people out there interested.<br>-Ego
