I remember when I first found this file, I thought I'd find the holy grail that
might make CT/Striker more attractive to play. There are a lot of great ideas
in it - like adding the first player stationary fire phase before the non-moving
player gets to target your stands (allows for covering fire - real tactics!),
like adding diceless spotting, like simplifying the initiative and morale
determination process (less pre-game prep work required), etc.
But I couldn't grok the combat resolution system as being any advance over
CT/Striker - if anything it is more convoluted and with more look-ups (equals
slower and more prone to error). You still have the problem of a fireteam stand
game where the players are trying to track individual trooper wound states,
ammunition use, etc (in many respects, the existing MegaTrav Refs Companion
large-scale combat system is a more elegant solution for combat resolution
IMHO). The morale rules still have the issue of weight of incoming fire not
causing suppression (you only check morale for casualties).
And, the file doesn't include any vehicle rules, missile rules, artillery rules,
air support rules, engineering rules, EW, etc , etc.
