Hi gang,
I just want to say thank you to all of you in the community that
supported ConQuest VEGAS this year with your presence at the show.
Whether you were running games, or playing them, or just hanging out
with your pals, you were essential to the success of Las Vegas' real
Wargaming conference featuring "Just Pure Gaming"!
We could not do this show if not for the support and hard work of Jason
Coffey. As this show grows through the years, and evolves into an
important wargaming conference, it will be Jason who gets the main
credit for sharing a vision with me of a terrific show. Thanks, Jason
for everything you do for the community all year round.
And thanks to Tom and the LVWargamers...some of the finest gentlemen
gamers I have had the pleasure of knowing in my journeys. Mucho thanks
to every one of you! Also, thanks to Bob Woodson and John Wootress who
hold down the board game fort. We had an exceptional rise in board game
activity at ConQuest VEGAS this year.
Hugh and his Star Fleet Battle guys have managed to host a 2nd straight
16 man sanctioned Rated Ace "Silver Hat Captain's" tournament. We are
grateful to Hugh and all his hard work and his tireless support of the
community. Join us next year as we build upon this success and step up
our prize support.
John Jones stepped up and flew in (on his own nickle) from the San
Francisco area to run a table of RPGA for the entire show. John has some
plans to rebuild our gutted RPGA program from last year, and others
sound excited to help as well. Thanks to John and his friend Neil who
rescued our RPGA program.
And Rick Loomis from Flying Buffalo Games was in attendance for a second
year as a vendor, and was quite pleased with the amount he sold. So
thank you for supporting him...he will most certainly be returning next
year.
Our vendor strategy will be two fold. We will be approaching
manufacturers planning to attend the GAMA Trade Show and offer them the
opportunity to sell their newest, perhaps even pre-released, items at
ConQuest VEGAS. That's right! You might get to buy things that have not
even arrived at the local stores yet! Doesn't that rock? And we will be
bringing in a vendor to sell most of your regular gaming needs...at a
substantial discount! (In fact, you can make orders throughout the year
via this vendor and get these discounts...more on that later!)
We had Anthony Gallela from Bucephalus Games, the fellows from Smirk and
Dagger Games, multiple Origins Award designer James Ernest, Green Ronin
Publishing Owner Nicole Lindroos, and many other luminaries from the
community including the new Executive Director of GAMA, Mr. John Ward,
who stopped by to say hello.
Next year, we are planning some seminars with these designers. Stay
tuned!
So, in spite of the space snafu with the hotel, everything went fairly
smoothly with ConQuest VEGAS. Remember, next year we are a week earlier,
and still right after the GAMA Trade Show, the weekend of April 9-11,
2010.
Also - beginning next year, we will institute...Stay for Two, Play for
Free! And a loyalty program for our attendees who've come to the show
before! We'll pass on these exciting details as they become available.
So, we'll be signing off for now. But if you have a question, just post
it here, and we'll get back to you soon.
Take care, and good gaming!
