AS it seems others are coming around to this chain of reasoning, I
thought I'd throw out what I have been able to put together about the
possibility of Evan's employer killing him. I will just list the
facts and then draw my conclusions. Sorry this is so massive.
DONUTECH enjoyed sustained growth during the second half of 2141,
particularly in the fourth quarter, even though earnings from the
Indian Ocean project are not expected to feed through to the bottom
line until third-quarter 2142. (from the Message from the Chairman
link)
2142 already looks to be another excellent year, given the contracts
in hand, the others under negotiation and--most significantly--the
Indian Ocean revenues anticipated in the second half. (Chairman's
Message)
What does Donu-Tech do? They "concentrate on Wildlife Impact studies
and the ecological data that can be determined through geothermal,
radiothermal and biothermal data."
The Thermal Studies department at Donu-Tech covers the fields of
geothermal, radiothermal and biothermal imaging and analysis, either
separately or in combination. Its clients include both sides of the
WaterWorks-Green Microtech merger. ((Fields of Activies page)
Thermal imaging and analysis is vital to today's environmental impact
studies. ... On a less exalted level, thermal imaging has proved
crucial in understanding not only macro-processes like the effect of
subtle shifts in the earth's magnetic field on thousands of cubic
miles of fish populations, but much smaller and perhaps mundane
things. Like disease, viral dissemination, fever incubation periods
and most infectious stages of any number of viral and bacterial
illnesses. Or the slightly different life cycles of all the various
strains of malaria parasites. (Thermal Studies page)
What is Evan working on? Waterworks due diligence team (Evan's
Calendar)
March 9th - The date for the WaterWorks-Green Microtech merger has
been moved up two weeks, to May 3rd. As a result, we will have to go
flat-out to finish our report in time for the inspection during the
due diligence process. (letter from Ibrim Hoxa to staff)
March 9th - "A Djinn class Instant Genius has met with your office
familiar to discuss the results of your search request on the terms:
Indian Ocean+/thermovariance+/mutant strainsORbiot
This instant genius will be available for direct conversation in
billable hours until 3.16.2142. Thank you for using Instant Genius."
(repsonse from Instant Genius sent to Evan)
March 8th - Had some more ideas about that problem-what about gene
swapping with bacteria? Need more data to go any further (letter from
Jeanine to Evan)
March 7th - "Mel Green says everything's on track, all it is is just
an equipment artifact. Promised will send along figures day after
tomorrow at latest. (Letter from Ibrim to Evan)
March 7th - "Hey, this is Mel! I think Ibrim has already told you
this; it was just an equipment artifact. You'll have the data
tomorrow. (Letter from Mel Green to Evan)
March 4th - Holconf Musil, Tamil Pride. Equip. fine (Evan's calendar)
Feb. 26th - Bought graphs! 1 more wk. Help! Call J. again (E's cal)
Feb 22nd - 3:30 overdue work meet w/Carter. Bring graphs! (E's cal)
Feb 14th thru 16th - Sri Lanka - Tamil Pride (E's cal)
Feb 13th - BWA - 2375 Sri Lanka 9:45 PM (E's cal)
Feb 7th - Djinn search, eff. Degradation Cf. Arctic? (E's cal)
Feb 6th - Carter says book tx, go see for myself. Call J? (E's cal)
Feb 5th - WW Results equip malf? (E's cal)

Jan 17th - Check with Stennis, make sure boat's ready
"Vid w/J re: TP firing. Neural wave? Did I already ask her about
cicadas?" (Notes to self on E's work page)
While many are eager to steal credit for our current meteorological
stability, objective historians of science agree that the seminal
idea for what would become the thermo-plankton web originated from
BWU's Dunedin campus. BWU engineers, programmers, chemists, and nano-
technicians were in the vanguard of the TP deployment, and continue
to monitor and maintain this crucial global thermostat to this day.
(from the Bangalore University Climate Control department)
And now for my thoughts. Donu-Tech has a lot riding on their
deal with the WaterWorks - Green Microtech merger. The nature of the
work they are doing is not stated, but it involves thermal scans in
the Indian Ocean region; specifically near Sri Lanka. As stated on
the Donu-Tech site, they perform thermal imaging and analysis to
assess the environmental impact of large projects. Evan is performing
thermal scans for the WaterWorks due diligence project and he gets
back odd results that make him think the equipment is
malfunctioning.
Donu-Tech's CEO, Carter Swem, tells Evan to go to Sri Lanka to
check it out. That same week, Evan submits a request to a search
Djinn about the effect of degradation Cf. arctic. I am not sure what
Cf. stands for, but it could be shorthand for clorofluorocarbons,
gases responsible for destroying the ozone layer above the arctic.
Evan then boards a BWA (Bangalore World Airways)flight to Sri Lanka
and spends several days aboard the survey ship, Tamil Pride. When
Evan returns, he still hasn't rectified his data. We know this
because his report is late to Carter Swem and Evan writes, "Bought
graphs! 1 more wk. Help!" It looks like Evan made up some data to
show to Carter so that he could have another week to solve the
problem.
In the first week of March, Evan had a conference call with
Musil in Sri Lanka who said that the Tamil Pride's equipment was not
malfunctioning. Three days later, Evan gets e-Mails from Mel Green,
the owner of Green Microtech, and Ibrim Hoxa. Both e-mails tell Evan
that the funny data he got from the survey was due to an equipment
artifact. Evan dies the next norning.
What did Evan uncover? We have some clues. He requested a search
on the degradation of the Arctic. He also ran a search on the terms
Indian Ocean+/thermovariance+/mutant strainsORbiot. The e-mail from
Jeanine shows that he was interested in a problem that involved gene
swapping with bacteria. From his notes to himself, he says, " Vid w/J
re: TP firing. Neural wave? Did I already ask her about cicadas?" I
think the cicada question is a reference to a theory that the
hibernation cycles of cicadas can predict global changes in climate.
TP stands for the thermo-plankton web, a bio-engineered global
thermostat developed by BYU. I am thinking that the WaterWorks
project is causing, or will cause, the thermo-plankton web to die
off, thus destroying the one thing that keeps the Earth's climate
habitable for humans. Of course, the bots will not have a problem
living in harsh UV and sweltering heat.
