Hi loco neko,
Sorry for the long delay and thanks for the positive comments. The
GUI is built into the Borland C++ builder compiler that I used.
Version 1.0 (yeah its old, but gets the job done!) I haven't been
able to count the lines of code yet because the compiler counts all
the system headers included too, so the number isn't accurate. I did
count it a few years back and I'm sure it was over 10,000 lines,
including comments. I could probably send someone some of the code
if needed, or discuss how some things work. I'm kind of worn out
from working on it for years though. I can't tell you how many
hours, but I started it around 1998. Having a couple kids and
playing other games slowed things down, but helped me from a total
burn out.
The most difficult thing was the AI by far. It seemed endless. How
to create an AI that makes good decisions under endless possible
conditions is a huge challenge. At some point I just had to
say "good enough...".
I checked out your 3D world map a while back. It looked excellent!
Maybe you could give some more details on your wargame project. I
just had a request for the other scenario files. I only did the
Poland one. If you or anyone else wants to try to create them, I
could help out. Just need to edit the x/y of the units in the
poland.sce file and a few other things.
Thanks again!
Blair
