You have hit on one of my biggest annoyances with Civ3. The level of
corruption--especially under democracy--is simply ridiculous. How is
having the bulk of your production being consumed by
corruption "merely a nuisance"? It's ridiculous.

I would guess there would be. I would start at
http://www.civfanatics.com and check out their mods - the list is
quite extensive.

Guys,
I have a very basic question.
I want to find my old saved games that are on my computer, but I do not known
its extention. How could I identify the saved games directory?
Obs: The directory "programfiles/infogrames interactive/ Civilization III/
Saves" do not appear on my windows explorer.
Tanks,
Aldo
i have some questions for civ conquests. i have done this in previous civ's
but i cant seem to do it in conquests. when i make a custom map with custom
rules, 1. how do i make the helicopters transport units, and be able to load
the helicopter onto a carrier to use to transport units and helicopter on the
carrier?
2 how can i make my cruise missles load onto a regular submarine and transport
to bombard coastal cities?
i did this in previous civ games but cant seem to find the right options for it
to work in my custom games on conquests.
another question. in the feudal japan scenarios, there is a ninja unit,
invisible, is there anyway i can bring this unit into a custom game of my own?
i want to make a regular game, but i want to add this unit to the game. is
there a way i can do this?
thanks for any and all help anyone can give me on these matters.

hi
any World War 1 and Napoleonic Scenarios?
__________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
I am trying to load Civ III on a new computer with Windows 7 and get an error
message. Data error (cylic redundancy check). It loads the first 16% and then
stops. Anybody have any ideas?
I am having the same issue with Windows 7. Windows is recognizing the program
as a 32 bit application and saving in in (86) but still getting the errors. I
did find one post anonymously made online that said they were running it fine on
windows 7 but am doubting that considering what I am reading here. Any ideas?
Have a good one,
Tim
I am having the problem with CIV III, Conquests. I am using a CD from 2000. It worked on XP but won't on W 7. Ideas? Is there someplace to buy a download of CIV III Conquests? Direct2Drive doesn't offer it.

Not sure that this helps, but according to this article Civ 3 works just fine on
Win7.

I'll install it on my Win7 x64 system and let you know how I fare.

Hi gays
My computer has XP HP Home edition and since then(NO PROBLEMS WITH wINDOWS 98),
movements get delayed. May be you know some patches can solve this problem?
I hope other people got same difficulty so I am not the only one
Thank you foR any help
Armando
Do you have the latest patches for the game? They are listed here
http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=64
The other things I would check, make sure you are running service pack 3 of
Windows XP, the latest directX version, and check for updated video card
drivers.

Experiment with the Science and Luxury Slider at the top left of the economic
adviser screen (Press F1 to get there).
When Science is 100%, you will get no gold at all (unless some citizens are tax
collectors) Try lowering the science rate. Also, the luxury bar in early game
should be zero. Increase to 10% once you can afford it so that your score
(happy citizens) will increase.
By the way, mines are not for gold at all. They are for shields (production
units). However, you will have the ability to convert shields to gold at a
certain ratio later in the game. (I think it's 8-to-1, then later 4-to-1)
Good luck, and when you are ready for a great civ3 experience - download the
Rise and Rule mod which nearly doubles the features of the game.

Corruption is the game design feature that is intended to maintain balance so
that one super-power civ will still have difficulty dominating the planet.
Keep in mind that there is an internal optimal # of cities (not obvious to the
player) before corruption becomes very strong. You can combat this little by
spreading out your cities. In other words, destroy or abandon cities that are
too close to other cities. (I think the abandon command only works with
Conquests, though)
If this, along with courthouses, and police stations doesn't help then increase
your luxury slider! Many people forget or ignore this important tool. When
your cities are having a "We Love the King" day, corruption is reduced.
Lastly, if all else fails, go to Communism government. It seems to work best
with huge Civs that are spread all over the map.

Hey I'm new to playing Civ iii online. Looking for someone to play online with,
I have been having difficulty locating a game that does not require a password
to join.
Check out this group. http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/C3PBEML-List/
It's a group of people who enjoy playing Civ. There are ladders, tournaments
for Civ 3, Civ 4, and soon Civ 5.
The webpage is http://www.civpbeml.org/

I need some advise on using Civ 4 on Mac. In one of the forums it was suggested
bringing anti-aliasing down to 0 and then playing the game. Well it works fine
for most of the scenarios except when I installed the World War 1 scenario, the
same graphics problems came back. I made no changes to the settings. Also the
unit animations appear frozen when I play the game which I am unable to fix.
Apart from this, I'd also like to know if there's any way of playing mods which
have gamecore .dll files on Mac.
There's a really good Napoleon scenario for Civ 4 on the BTS version. Not
anything for Vanilla though.
