Fellow Troglodytes,
I just picked up this "Adventuring Accessories II" pack at a local
hobby store:
http://www.reapermini.com/store/customer/search.php?substring=2963
I plan to use the bonfire for prehistorics and the other accessories
for my other 16th century interests.
It's funny how we can see useful pieces in entirely different ranges.
Dan
I added one more .gif that I'd missed earlier. I put it in the
Migrations file folder with the others. This shows the suggested
outline of Florida with the sea level 300' below current level.
I'm interested in what other people have found. I'm especially
interested in the coastlines and extent of the ice sheets circa 18,000
BCE. Topography would be great, too.
Bruce B.
So, for my Cave Wars collection I have the following animals:
4 Lions (2 Reaper Dark Heaven and 2 Reaper Warlord)
9 Wolves (Reaper)
1 Woolly Rhino (Reaper Warlord)
6 Hyenas (BTD)
3 Saber Tooth Cats (1 Reaper, 2 Pulp Figures)
2 Brown Bears (Pulp Figures)
1 Cave Bear ("Dire Bear" from Reaper)
Looks like my 30+ Neanderthals (Pulp Figures and Reaper) and my 35+
Cromagnons (Copplestones and Foundry savage Germans) are going to
have fun fighting each other and a bunch of interesting critters too!
All I need is to get home so I can paint all of these!
I also have bought 3 BBC books:
Monsters We Met
Prehistoric America
Walking With Cavemen
What do you all have (painted and unpainted figures, books, etc.)?
Dan
Bruce,
Fantastic files. I have moved them to the Files/Migrations and Maps
folder.
Keep them coming!

I like the new home photo; looks a little like me on a particularly bad
day. I no longer have that much hair, though. Hah!
I've gotten *no* painting done so far during my holiday break. When I
do, I'll post some photos. I'd really like to get some of my megafauna
painted up, if nothing else.
Jeff
Great list, Dan, and I love that you included pictures with it. Makes
it easy to see the similarities/differences in each line.
There are some Ral Partha animals you might want to add. They're
modern animals, but most are relatively unchanged over the last
10,000 years or so:
31-024 Greater Animals. Cougar, Bear & Hyena 2 each (6)
31-025 Lesser Animals. Fox, Bobcat, Stag, Badger, Rattlesnake,
Wolverine & Warthog (7)
31-031 Lion Pride. 3 Adults & 2 Cubs (4)
31-032 Veldt Animals. Wildebeest x2, Giraffe & Gemsbak (4)
31-033 River Denizens. Crocodile & Hippo, in & Out of Water (4)
31-034 African Elephant
You can see photos on the RP Europe site:
https://www.connectstores.com/ralpartha/sp_27241.html
They're also available packaged in larger boxed sets:
10-401 Animals of Africa Boxed Set. Elephant, Giraffe, Lion, Hippo,
Hippo in water (just the head), Gemsbak, Wildebeest, Cheetah,
Lioness, Warthog, Hyena, Lion Cubs, Croc, Croc in Water (just the
head)
10-402 Animals of North America Boxed Set. Brown Bear, Black Bear,
Brown & Cream Bear, Stag, Cougar, Wolverine, Bobcat, Fox, Badger,
Rattle Snake
RP also did a dozen or so prehistoric mammals in its Beastmasters
line. I'll look for them online, and if I can't find them, I'll take
photos of mine and upload them.
The Links "Rules" folder has two rule sets I was able to find online.
I hope to add more in the future.
If you write your own and would like to share them with the group,
please add them to either the Files or Links.
Thanks a million.

Fellow Troglodytes,
How do you like the new picture on the Cave Wars home page?
There are also a few new links and one file that was added tonight in
the Miniatures folder. When I finally get home next Friday, I will try
to add some photos as well.
This is your discussion group. So, if you have links, photos and files
to share and submit, I look forward to seeing them here.
Let me know what you think. Thanks.
Dan
I love the mammoth and the cavemen! I think that they are going to
be on my next shopping list.
As soon as I get a chance to visit home next Friday, I will start
adding links and photos.
Thanks.

YES! IN CHAIN REACTION THEIR ARE INDIVIDUAL REPS, WHICH ARE USED FOR
INDIVIDAL MORALE TESTS, AND A LEADER'S REP, WHICH CAN BE USED INSTEAD
-IF THE GROUP IS CLOSE ENOUGH TOGETHER.
ALL LIVING THINGS HAVE REPS.

Very true, I'm sure.
On a related topic, should each caveman (and possibly living thing) be
given its own personal 'morale'?
LOL! well, to be honest, i thinki that NEANDERTHAL and CRO-MAGNON would speak
more

<:O)
GLAD y'all liked it! it was a fun little hunting trip, played out in less than
2 hours, in a

That way I'm guaranteed to get a set I enjoy. To me that's part of
the fun along with the modeling and painting aspects.

Guys,
Check out www.toysoldierhq.com They have just listed a large
collection of Marx dinosaurs, cavemen etc. I definitely saw Mammoths
and Sabertooth Tigers in the mix for $3.00 each! They are listed as
being 1/32 scale, but I am fairly certain that they would look fine
with 28mm figures. The company also offers the Processed Plastic
buckets, which include a Pre-Historic set with lots of cavemen.

Hello
I think developing our own could be interesting.
Hi everybody,
I'm really glad to see Prehistoric gaming finally picking up some
steam since I have had a desire for a long while to do some. I am
hoping that next year the High school I teach at finally adds
anthropology to our electives, that way I can write off my minis on my
taxes. =) I find that each year our history curriculum slowly cuts out
a bit more of the prehistory period.
What rule sets are everybody using and what are the pros & cons of
each set of rules?
This site owes much to the Editor (Bill Armintrout) and the many
members of The Minatures Page, where many Prehistoric subjects have
been discussed through the years and where, recently, a Prehistoric
Board was created for sharing ideas and tips on these subjects:

Many thanks for all the wonderful input. I hope this site facilitates
the sharing of photos and other files that could not be exchanged on
TMP.

Welcome to Cave Wars, the group "dedicated to the discussion of
scenarios, wargaming rules, figures, conversions and terrain for
prehistoric themes, particularly those of early man."
I am personally working on a project using Copplestone and Foundry
figures to represent Cro-Magnons and Pulp Figures and Reaper cavemen to
represent Neanderthals. However, this group is open to discussion
about other prehistoric periods and even lost world scenarios.
I hope to soon be able to post photos and links to other useful
manufacturer and terrain sites.
