hi thare fellow auto duelers
i have bean playing the new car wars of late , haveing invested in a
cupel of the starter packs and the div 5 book ,i am wondering if
thare is a way to get hold of the stat sheats fore the uther cars
whithout shelling out of the full set?
ps
sory bout the spelling
i am a bit dislexik
I like the bits of complexities like the damages system... i was
wounder like simplifications on firing modifiers.. take it down to 1
sheet instead of 2 and colitions
We are going to be working on a miniatures game called Hex Command:
Streets that makes the game more like a wargame and not so much like a
role playing game. It will use a hexagon system and be much easier to
play.

Not exactly. I haven't designed anything new, just started figuring
out the basic statistics such as price-per-component, a rough estimate
of space taken and weight to allow customization of the existing
designs, such as switching out weapons and armor for different loadouts.
An unofficial Vehicle Design Rules, if you will, since the official
one seems perpetually delayed currently. =^.^= And I thought I'd post
it here, but first I wanted to check if such was okay as first and
foremost I don't want to fracture the community or impact SJGames
plans negatively for one of my favorite products of theirs. :-)
I have no say-so, but I'm intrigued. What exactly have you done? Design new
cars using the cars as printed guidelines?

Erf... good grief. Rolls from 6 months past to 18 months past? That's
starting to sound like some computer programs I could name by other
companies. :-)
I wish everyone luck with hammering that stuff out, and it looks like
I'll work more on figuring out the stats for the existing gear in the

Sure did. SJG currently has no playtest for the VDR due to a dislike in the
rules by
several people SJ being one of them, for the last round of playtests. I am
anxious to
see what they are going to do, but am not holding my breath for anything in the

And I hate to state the obvious, but a large amount of the 'basic'
rules for design can be determined from the existing designs if one is
willing to invest the time and effort. Spaces and those rules being
the one major exception. :-)
Of course, all that may go out the window depending on the final
design rules if they 'invalidate' some existing designs by a buck or
pound or two. =^.^=
But yes, I'm anxious to see the design kit as well. :-)

Any Starter Kit, Page 7, left-side column just above 'Attacking' in
the large font, the last sentence:
You may also answer a ram with return fire, if you have a firing
action left and a weapon that can hit the rammer.
In this case, it doesn't answer the original question of does a
minelayer serve for a return fire during a ram, but it does answer
that a ram DOES draw return fire.
Our Club ran for many years and we had a great time with it [sighs all
nastoligly]...anyway, we just ran events using the Corporate dueling
rules, or we just took turns "hosting" events. "Lee, your hosting next
week, what is the event?" "Arena duel, Division 30, nothing bigger than
Luxury, in the Aladin's Castle."
It isn't hard to do, but if you want to be a little more formal, I suggest
the corporate dueling rules. You can get them from the car wars website
or from ADQ 4/1
Hope that helps!

As long as the collision results place the two vehicles _apart_, a second ram is
possible.

Your reasoning is correct, but the answer isn't. Most of the time, the results
of a Tbone will separate the vehicles enough for a second ram.

If the vehicles are _overlapping_, then the counters are moved apart. When
moving the counters apart, it is only fair to move them as little as possible,
and as equally as possible.

No idea, unfortunately. I'm surprised that they haven't at least
updated the news - having the VDS in playtest ought to be a big deal
and publicized heavily.

I have been reading the rules again [preping for an up comming game] and
have run into a few questions about the game. Here we go:
1] Flamethrowers can be mounted front now? Does the firing car take
damage from them if it moving forward?
2] Durring a T-Bone, If I hit a car and the randome direction pivot moves
me to line up with the rammed car again and I have enough movement left
[after speed reduction for the ram], can I ram twice in one round?
3] When are the design rules out? I am hoping next month, but will wait
anouther one or two before I get testy. ;)
4] When can we expect to see more on the Car Wars site? Autoduel Times?
AADA?, Links, or maybe an arena design or 2?
Thanks in advance.

Denver Area Caw Wars players, I am needing to playtest an arena i have
designed for an event I am going to run at next years BenCon [June 2003].
The event will be a super scale event, but the playtest is going to be
normal scale. Can I have all you Denverites contact me so I can get a
playtest date set up with you all and get a good game going? I need up to
12 players for this and only have 4 or 5 people so far. Please contact me
off list and let me know if you are interested. The playtest will use the
Division 15 cars from the books currently out.
The actual event at the con will be run in a 24' x 24' arena and will
involve players bringing their own 1:25th scale Car built to look like the
vehicle they bring to play. There will be a painting contest for the best
looking car as well as a prize for the winner of the event.

Ah so there is hope, good, car Wars has such a interesting back story to it it
would be a shame to ignore it in this edtion, but from now it looks like the

Thanks for taking the time to read this, but after reading Excerpts from the
Road atlas from the web arctives of the old " Autoduel quarterly" magazine I've
been wounder if there are any plans to release a new edtion of the book that
the newest edition of Car Wars is up and running.
And from some of the stuff i've read aboutt CW before it was release sugested
some changes in the car Wars world so a new Road atlas sounds like the oerfect
way to bring playersd both old and new(like my self) up to speed.
So is there going to be a new edtion of the Road atlas and surival Guide or
ever a re-release of thre old one?
ThanK You
P.S I've have both the car Wars Card game as well as all three division 5 set
and I'm enjoying them both, thanks to every one at Steave Jackson games for
putting out such a great game
By my reading of the rules, you may return fire when fired upon, and a ram, though it does damage, is not being fired upon...

A better solution would be to contact orders@... with a list of what
components you did receive. They should be able to replace the missing elements.
Scanning such materials violates SJG's copyright, so please don't do it, and
don't ask others to do it.
