Re: [Games@Six] Crokinole Boards?

Yes they are usually available at Millennium. Also there seems to be
another source for expensive wood versions of the game. Check out Mr.
Crokinole at http://www.crokinole.com/ The expensive wooden versions
seem like excellent gift ideas.

However if you want a set for yourself or a gift for kids and you don't
want to spend a lot try the board from Mad hatter toys and games. We
bought this set and we love it. When I bought it, it was about $25.00,
well I just checked and the price seems to have dropped to $14.98 on
Amazon. for 15 bucks this is a steal. It's made of real cheep
material, but the synthetic surface is real smooth and slippery,
perfect for the game. Also the wooden pucks that come with it are too
small. (They are small so they will work with the checker board on the
flip side.) I went and purchased a set of real Crokinole disks from
Millennium. (You can buy the disk separate from the boards there)
The Millennium disks fit in the center hole just perfectly by the way
and they are bigger and feel better when you flick them. Millennium
also has four different colors so I bought all four and we have wild 3
and 4 player games at our house.

By the way children seem to love this game. One problem I have noticed
with kids and games is that the concept of "losing" does not always go
over well. (especially ages 5-8) Crokinole seems to defy this
problem, the kids just get a kick out of flicking the disks around and
they often don't care what the score is. Actually a losing shot in
Crokinole is often the most fun as the disk shoots clear off the board
bouncing wildly and maybe even taking flight. woo hoo. So I highly
recommend this game for kids.
