Description

Divorce, the loss of a job, a death, injury- any number of these incidences can shatter even the most beautiful dreams, the pieces falling away to an ugly reality with which nobody's prepared to deal. These pitfalls in life don't define us. They help shape us, yes, but it's how we negotiate them and either overcome or succumb to them that does.

BelleReve is an unassuming small town in Kentucky, near the Lexington/Louisville area. Emerald pastures sprawl lazily between smooth white fences and craggy limestone walls. It's serene misty mornings and peaceful goldspun sunsets have a balmy allure to the wounded soul. It's home to many people from many walks of life- some dreamers, some doers, even slackers, too. The quiet countryside welcomes them all 'home', and tries to soothe and ease the sore, raw burdens wrought upon tortured egos, damaged bodies, and frail beings by life. The downtown district holds many storefronts and public gathering places to distract and entice the visitor, and the occupations necessary to sustain such economic and cultural vitality are held by an eclectic number of people.

Belle Reve was a dream conceived by someone who wanted to make it a reality to share with others nearly a hundred years ago. It was a reprieve from the crude, dirty developmentally urban areas and the stark, harsh farms where people labored in the Burley fields from dawn til dusk- then collapsed into dirty beds, too tired to dream. Dreaming for some isn't a luxury, it's a necessity. Are you a dreamer, too?

We don't discourage themes conservatively mislabeled "adult" out of naivete or misunderstanding, but if you're going to do a smalltown soap RP, try to avoid paraphrasing ideas already in use by an active one, or by just 2.0-ing a buddy's.

Phrase for the day: "You scorch my boxers!" brought to you by Topper and his wicced pals.
