What is Astate? Well Astate or Ahuian [Wilderness] as the Romulans call it is a class M planet located within the Neutral Zone. It was first colonized in 2376 by Romulan settlers and then Federation colonist arrived a year later. For decades the two sides did not interact, but as the populations grew, conflict between the two sides occurred over territory on the planet.



Recently, the conflict between the two sides threatened to spill over into surrounding systems and throw the neutral zone into chaos. Because of this, both the Federation, and Romulan Governments decided to intervene to keep the situation from escalating further. Coming into mutual agreement the Federation established a Starfleet outpost on the planet and the Romulan Empire established a Star Navy outpost. Both governments have begun disarming the local populations in an effort to find a peaceful solution to the conflict before it draws both of them into a full scale war.
