If you want to play a character who can raise an army of shuffling
zombies, you might want to investigate playing a Vodoun houngan ("Book
of Crafts") or a sorceror ("World of Darkness: Sorceror", edition one
or two). If you want to play a Hollow One, Euthanatos or other
Tradition mage who specializes in such things, then you might want to
think about playing a character who is *apprenticed* to someone who
can reanimate corpses and is well on the way to learning the trick.
No, your character won't be able to raise the dead at the beginning of
the campaign, but perhaps when s/he finally does earn the power,
you'll value it more because you earned it well and true, rather than
just built up your Sphere ratings for that particular application.
And who knows? Your character might, through the course of the game,
find that his/her talents lie in related but different areas.

In case anyone is interested in some Online RPing, if you read my
first post you know i have a Message forum where my game does online
RPing.
Here is rules for creation
http://www.theita.net/mage/charactercreation.htm
You can get house rules for online and live action play here
http://www.theita.net/mage/houserules.htm
the forum if you did not see my first post is here
http://www.theita.net/itaforum
If you are interested in playing please contact me so we can set up a
character before you post. because there are some ground rules when
interacting with the vampires when they are on ;-)
My e-mail is public but you can also send an e-mail to this one
asteroth666@... and i will be sure to get it. Right now we are
a tradition mage game. If you have experiance and would like to play
Technocract or somethign else PLEASE talk to me first so i can get an
idea of what you want to do with your character before it starts to
destroy the world. haha.
Anyway if you are interested let me know. I am online often.
Phil
I will give you the BEST resource for World of Darkness stuff online.
Does not give explanations but gives point values and where you can
find the books. http://www.pen-paper.net/wod.php
has everything you could want to find. As for creation rules that
varies between games here is a link to the rules for creation in MY
game. http://www.theita.net/mage/charactercreation.htm
if you are interested it has a MS Excel document at the bottom that i
made for character creation. Just add the X's and put in the point
values when needed and you are good to go. does all the math for you.
Without knowing that concept you want to play that is about all that i
can give you for now.
Phil
Hey Hey, just giving a quick intro. Name is Phil i am from well i am
sure you know that already form the subject line. My mage game is
rather new, about 4-5 months now. I am part of a shared universe with
a vampire game who is part of a universe with other vampire games. We
are all part of the Imaginary Theater Association. Together we
encompas Mississauga, Oakville, Oshawa, Kitchener/Waterloo,
Peterborough in Ontario. Not only do we run LARPs we also have an
Online version of our universe that people can play if they are not
able to attend the games themselvs.
Here is My mage site. Still under construction mind you some the
Residents section is incomplete, then i need refining.
http://www.theita.net/mage
Here is our Online world.
http://www.theita.net/itaforum
i have also been playing a vampire LARP for over a year now. Got into
STing cuz i wanted to expand my horizons and because there was no mage
game near me that i could find. I am still trying to increase my pool.
i have about 6-8 players in LARP form. they all play online too.
Anyway that is enough about me. ttyl
Phil
Hey there. Well, I don't know a lot of places where the LARP rules
are. Can't you borrow a copy of the book from someone? Or even visit
a bookstore that has a copy?
Merits and Flaws aren't too hard to find, but if you're a new player,
I don't recommend using them a whole lot. Phys/Ment/Soc descriptive
Traits really don't vary a lot between LARP books. Same with
Abilities.
As for places, you could try this:
http://www.darknexus.com/WWLarp/
Or hit Google.

Hi, name's Todd. Was hoping could find some assistance in creating a
Mage character for LARP. Wont have Law of the Ascension for another
few weeks but need character before then. Could someone tell me where
I could find the rules for character creation? I cant find a list of
Merits/Flaws or Phys/Ment/Soc traits or Abilities. Thanks in

The group is now set up:

Basically, the premise is that contact was lost with the Chantry
there, the residents disappeared, and you would be the 'replacements'.

However, you will have to negotiate with the spirit and the corpse
will continue to decay.
Forces3/ Life2 you control the corpse like a puppet. Requires your
direct control to operate.
Spirit2/matter1/mind3 (or higher) you can implant subliminal messages
in the spirit animating the corpse.
Throw in some matter2 with Prime2 and the corpse would stop rotting.
Of course all of this would bring you more paradox than jhor.
The higher the sphere level the less direct control you will have to
exert on the "zombie".

No, Entropy is... Entropy!
You're getting confused over with the traditions, I think. Because
Entropy is the sphere of election of the Euthanatos Tradition who
are the most prone to give the "Good Death" to anyone who disagrees
with them... Er, now I'm being a little to extremist.
I would sugest you pick up the base book or a copy of it. Study the
spheres. Think of what kind of effects you want and how you want
them to manifest. Think of what your character's paradigm is and how
it influences its magic. And after that choose your main sphere(s).
Because the truth is that all the spheres overlap in a way or
another. So you can make the same effect with two different spheres.
Study them and see which fits better to what you want and how you
want, and then choose!
Good gaming,
Ric
I agree with the person who said spirit. Though it
depends on the kind of necro you want to play. If you
want to communicate with the dead, or infuse corpses
with spirits, then spirit magic all the way. If you
just want to control a mass of zombies, then Life and
Mind is all you need, perhaps Prime 2 if you want to
make them at all permanent.
As far as tradition goes, Necro is suited to nephandi,
if you want to be really evil, but it also works
easily as a Verbena, Euthanatos, or Hollow One if you
don't mind their drawbacks. I'd recommend Verbena
personally, since they already fit the witch
archetype. Necromancer is hardly a stretch from
there.
Hope that helps!

I'm surely not the best person to answer you this as my understanding
of Mage is not all that deep. But here is point of view.
First thing you want a necro. Seems like handling with the spirit of
the dead (that means you'll be needing dots in the Spirit sphere).
You say you want to reanimate dead corpses, skeletons and such...
Hmmm, Life 5 for sure. But then again you might get a workaround on
this and get it a little bit earlier, maybe... You may be wanting to
reconstruct dead bodies or lost body parts. Life again or maybe
Matter, as the body is dead and it may be viewed at as dead matter.
But that is another discussion (Life/Matter, what hits vampires?).
IMHO Spirit is definitely a must, and Life may be of some help too.
I know, I was to vague and you wanted something a little less vague.
Sorry, haven't played Mage for some time now and even then my
understanding wasn't all it should be.
Hope, even then, I was of, at least a _little_ , assistance.
