Could this be a battle with YOUR armymen?
'
pEEgEE

I got to do another phase of my battle, too.
the Pz.Gren. company w/ the 2 Pz. platoons whacked that line of semi-prepared
positions and 4 KV-1 tanks. They only suffered 1 damaged Panther, 16 KIA, 20
WIA.
The entire Soviet company was decimated and the 4 tanks destroyed. They took 12
uninjured prisoners and about 30 wounded ones. The tanks advanced to secure the
area around the village to seal it off. As they moved they were struck in the
flank by the rest of the KV-1 company and the 3rd infantry company of the Bn. 3
of the 4 Tiger I's were destroyed but as soon as the Panthers maneuvered around,
the KV-1's were picked off. The accompanying infantry company was swooped up w/o
much of a fight.
Only the village remained and it was now known that the Bn HQ was in there. The
Hvy mortar platoon was captured, so there was no significant indirect fire
capability available.
The SD company (black MB figs.) moved up by truck to release points and march
into porition around the village. The armored cars from the Pz.Gren. recon
platoon were attached to assist with the assault. It was about a 30 minute
fight. The SD took about 30% casaulties and they lost an armored car to a
Molotov cocktail. The Russkies surrendered in small pockets. 6 unwounded men and
about 25 wounded. The Bn HQ fought to the last. Omly a radio operator and a
staff officer was taken as a wounded prisoner.
The Germans are now in a position to turn a flank, but w/o fuel to do so. The
Pz.Gren. company is at about 70% strength, but there are only 5 tanks available
(4 Panther, 1 Tiger I). They would be striking into the flank of another Guard's
In. Bn. and a Tank Bn (T-34/76's). If timed with an attack from the LW Feld
Einheit, it could put enough pressure on them to cause a withdrawl, but they are
not strong enough to eliminate the enemy. The LW unit is not very well suited to
rapid assault, either. The equipment is better in the defence and the soldier's
tng is not adequate for a well executed assault. They now DO have the Pzkw IV
company available to lead the assault, though. That's 12 tanks that are fairly
the equal of the T-34/76.
