Lists of Smaug monsters, their danger factor, and xp / treasure yie   Message List

I hope that I'm not posting off-topic on a list that should only be about
finished areas, but I'm hoping that you guys can help me. If questions like
mine don't belong on your list, perhaps you could direct me to a more
appropriate list.

I've been playing around on the Smaug utility Area Creator 132. I find it
a very useful program and I've thrown a few rooms together as an experiment.
However, while the program gives me advice as to the hit points and armor
class that my mobs should have, I don't know how much damage they should
inflict, how much experience they should yield, and how much treasure to
hand out (magical and otherwise). My years of experience playing AD&D
aren't really helpful there.

It's a low powered area. Most of my mobs are 2nd or third level with one
4th, two 5ths, and a 7th. I do have up to six 2nd level mobs in a room, but
I'm thinking that even that shouldn't be too tough for a pc who has
graduated from the usual low-level training area. (Besides, those mobs
aren't aggressive)

Is there a list anywhere of common Smaug mobs so that I can see the usual
sort of damage they inflict, and the experience and cash rewards they yield?
I am well aware that there is no substitute for spending huge amounts of
time playing muds to learn the ecology, but I just haven't got the time.
Even when I used to spend time levelling up on muds, I was too busy
exploring to pay too much attention to the numbers.

Thanks,
Adam

I have now actually built a little 11 room area with the area creator (very, very small cigars all around). However, while it looks alright on "walkthrough"...

I've already had two people kindly offer to look at my Smaug area, so that's taken care of. Thanks! Adam ...

Well, assuming you've compiled the smaug code and got all that together, then all you do is go to the area directory, look for area.lst (or areas.lst,...
