Hi
I had the oportunity to try the 13m on snow it was back to back
too my 18Phantom winds were completely squirly, amazingly it was
pretty easy holding the P18 in 20 knot gusts totally impressed, but
I wanted to share the 13v experience.
Completely different to the phantom it was solid and held its shape
apears to fly flatter and turns on a dime, more grunt than the
Phantoms softer feel, which will be great on the water. It was great
in the gusts but too small in the lulls for me, others on skiis were
finding it the right size and getting ok jumps for the conditions,
for my 240 lbs on a snowboard I would like a little more.
It is a definate step forard for the PL line I think these kites are
gonna be great on the water or snow, I didn't really get the feeling
of extra power when pulling in the bar but that could just be me
used to the Phantoms, one thing I learned last week the Phantoms
will jump best when flying on the knot with the strap out full power
rear lines tight. This might be the same for venoms as I didn't
really have the same feeling when trying to get air with the venom
as a result my jumps were Lame. It is a learning game.
Hardest thing to get used too is how much wind these kites can
control coming from a flat foil background and s arcs I have to tell
myself before every launch its gonna be Ok its the right size I see
everyone else looking at me I know they think I'm going way too big
for the conditions, they even look at me seriously and say are you
sure? Its gonna take some getting used too but is worth it in the
end. They haven't let me down yet.the PL line is the best yet and I
think how much better can it get?, keep it comming I'll be here.
I was introduced to the Phantom 6m by a buddy last summer It
impressed the hell out of me, Another friend got a 15P i used it for
1 hour on the water I liked it soo much I decided to sell all my
other kites and switch to just Phantoms every one said Are you sure,
man your nuts after spending the last 4 years building a quiver of
flat foils and sarcs you wanna sell it all and switch to just 2
kites,Your crazy!!! It was the best decision I've made no regrets.
Now I think I'll need a 19V for the water,we'll see when the snow is
gone. Good work PL crew get em hooked and just keep reeling us in
with even better products. As a side comment its great that PL is
getting the gear to fly right out of the bag its important that they
display a sense of confidence right off the start people don't want
to fiddle with a bunch of things to fly thier new kites both my
Phantoms flew right the first time no adjustments needed. Remember
when the Sarcs came with bars with no safety and would fall apart
with knots slipping and velcro sliding, they sure have come along
way in 2 years. Even PL,s biggest critics seem to be climbing on
board, all must be right in the arc world.
Cheers
Jim
