snowkiting: V19 and g2-22 tested back to back   Message List

Yesterday, Rachael and I had our first session on the Venoms 16 and
19 at the Sandbar on Lake Champlain, Vermont. I weigh 220lbs
I used my G2-22 and Venom 19 and switched back and forth. Wind was 8-
11knts with perfectly edgable hard snow.
I had the internal strap fully on, wow the v19 has grunt, way more
than the g22.
V19 feels vey solid( g22 feels very soft in comparison), translates
in to way more line tension. Its much heavier on bar pressure than
the G22. V19 is much faster thru air and in turn, constant pull in
all places of stroke, bar sheeting does not effect the speed.
Well to the important matters, jumping g22 has more float, very soft
landing, but the v19 rips you off ground and its your choice if you
want to go long and flat jump, or high. Its got plenty of float, but
because it turns so fast you come down a bit hotter than g22(acts
more like parachute, as cant get the kite back forward in time for
landing). Theg22 takes alot of physical effort to jump, v19 yu just
load pull on back hand, and explode off snow.
Although the wind was light because the snow was fast and totally
edgeable big jumps were easy. The snow was untracked to easy to go
back and see how far you jumped from where the tracks stopped and
started. one of the long ones approaching 100ft.
G22 seemed to fly slighly further forward in window, but this may
have been that v19 just has so much more power, which made it a bit
more of a leg work out to cruise upwind. Dont get me wrong v's
definatly cruise upwind, just comparing it to the ultimate upwind
cruiser g22.
Rachael used the v16, she loved it, said its super fast tuning and
great spped thu window. She was definatly getting big jumps with it
yeaterday. She also commented on the solid feel of the kite in the
air and constant power.
Conclusion:Venoms quantum leap from any previous arc. The v19 has
all the low end you could want. Anybody want a cheap G2-22
North west 10-15knts, same great snow today, will report more.
Conditions are looking great for the Kitestorm next weekend, big
dump forecast on monday.
cheers James
