A war is raging in Aquantas. The dark mages and demons have allied themselves and formed a massive army behind the walls of the Shadow Fortress. They are preparing to go into an all out battle with those who study magic to help the races of Aquantas live in peace. They are the mages of the Crystal Castle led by the Crystal Council.

These mages study elemental magic, and most of them have grown up in the castle's walls after learning of their magical talents. Each of them was born with an elemental power. Those who have been born with the power to control plants and earth study under the Amber Council. Some mages born with the power to harness lightning study under the Beryl Council. Others can manipulate the wind to their will and study in the Quartz Council. Those who can control fire study under the Ruby Council, and those with the power to control water study under the Sapphire Council.

They are led by the Crystal Council, an order of fifteen elite mages, three chosen from each sub-council, who have been fighting the war against Shadow Realm for years and have mastered their magics.

Just when the Crystal Council thought they were pushing the Shadow Realm back in defeat, their leader read of a magical artifact that could literally destroy the world. The Talismans of Byxanthi consist of six rune-like pieces of an apocalyptic puzzle. When joined together, the pieces channel the power of Aquantas' three suns creating an annihilating force that would destroy all life.

Now, it's up to the Crystal Council and the mages of the Crystal Castle to head off the Shadow Realm in finding the six pieces of Byxanthi.
